My partner users my towels, flannel etc

AIBU to expect to have my own towel, flannel etc? My partner and I have lived together for just over 2 years now and it annoys me that they keep using 'my' towels etc.

I don't mean as in I have my own set, like mine are green ones and yours are the blue ones, but once we start a clean set of towels we should stick to our own set, or am I being too fussy?

Once o saw how vigorously DH polishes his knob and balls when drying I vowed never to share a towel with him.

riotlady · 14/10/2021 18:01

Can’t see the problem sharing towels with someone you’re having sex with. I’ve had his genitals in my mouth, we can dry our bits on the same towel

Lightswitch123 · 14/10/2021 18:01

@Etonmessisyum

My boyfriend and I share everything, towels included. Clean of course. We have sex, to get tetchy about using a clean towel that he has once used is a bit weird imo. What is it you think might happen if you share towels, if you share a bed etc anyway?…
Agreed
Mamamamasaurus · 14/10/2021 18:02

What's the actual issue with sharing towels - maybe that would help to give better answers. Does he not actually wash and just rub a dry flannel over his nethers? Uses a dry towel to remove his athlete's foot? What's the bottom line here?

espressomartiniweeny · 14/10/2021 18:02

Yes that's gross. What if he wipes his arse with your towel and then you end up using it.

Also things like molloscum contagiosum are spread this way.

Can you have a set peg to hang towel behind the bathroom each?

flowery · 14/10/2021 18:03

Doesn’t matter what others do, you don’t want him using your towel and that’s a perfectly reasonable request.

Nidan2Sandan · 14/10/2021 18:04

Surely if they're using a towel they are clean? So i dont really understand the issue Confused

But MN is a weird place when it comes to towels and bedding.

Suzi888 · 14/10/2021 18:04

YANBU get a new towel every time and leave your DP with your sloppy seconds Grin

Suzi888 · 14/10/2021 18:04

Who wants to use a wet towel ?! Confused

icedcoffees · 14/10/2021 18:05

We have our own towels - just have your own "colours" or something.

bellabasset · 14/10/2021 18:07

I understand where you're coming from, I used clean towels everyday, my late dh made them so wet I had to wash them every day anyway!

DeepaBeesKit · 14/10/2021 18:07

Once o saw how vigorously DH polishes his knob and balls when drying I vowed never to share a towel with him.

That water that he is drying off is clean water presumably, if he's just got out of the shower/bath? In our house the towel goes on the heated rail to dry and gets used again. The environment does not need us all washing the towels after every use.

JuneOsborne · 14/10/2021 18:08

Do you mean hand towels or bath towels?

Robin233 · 14/10/2021 18:08

We have our own bath / shower/ dry your own bottom towels but hand towels we share and they are changed regularly.

Glad you said that about not having new towels every day - thought that was just me!!
torquewench · 14/10/2021 18:10

I like my own towel. My ex used to hang his on a hook on the back of the bathroom door and they often had skidmarks on 🤢. Not a chance I'm ever sharing a towel with a bloke.

Matildalamp · 14/10/2021 18:11

I have my own towels and never allow anyone else to use them. But then I have ulcerative colitis, and a fistula, so that is very much for everyone else’s benefit! So I’d say YANBU.

LubaLuca · 14/10/2021 18:11

We all have our own bath towels. DH sheds a remarkable amount of dead skin, and I don't want his body dandruff on freshly washed me.

Notreallyhappy · 14/10/2021 18:11

I wouldn't want to use a towel that's been wiping someone else's arse either.
I hang mine on the door,,the Mr.puts his on the radiator

Inthesameboatatmo · 14/10/2021 18:11

It wouldn't bother me really but I am quite the slattern.
If you have sex with someone and share bodily fluids I can't see the problem.

HPandTheNeverEndingBedtime · 14/10/2021 18:14

It's only Dd and me in our house but we use bathrobes and hair towels only, we used to share all the time, which I wasn't fussed with hygiene wise but grabbing a towel that should be dry to find out its still damp from someone else was annoying for both of us. Using towelling bathrobes prevented that.

Who uses towels to clean their arse?
Marmelace · 14/10/2021 18:19

We stick to our own and face cloths only get used the once anyway.

MoltenLasagne · 14/10/2021 18:20

We use bath towels for a week before washing so we have our own on individual pegs. We share hand towels.

Don't understand how people wash towels after each use - do you have copious piles of towels (and massive storage?) or do you just never stop washing? Or perhaps you only shower/bath once a week?

MajorCarolDanvers · 14/10/2021 18:21

Wouldn't bother me re towels - we share towels.

Only my dh uses a flannel so he gets it to himself.
