... that you cant afford to buy your kids anything for xmas, wtf are you doing online?

last i heard, internet cost money, wether you have it at your house or pay to use the library/internet cafe.

Instead of coming Online and bitching about how skint you are... keep the pennies and try spending them on your kids instead!!!

Snowmond · 09/12/2007 10:56

Popcorn anyone, lol.

Internet access at my library is free if you are a member

RubySlippers · 09/12/2007 10:57

wow - who rattled your cage this morning!

lots of people get free internet access through deals or at reduced rates

for some people the internet is a lifeline where they can come for support, to offload etc

DANCESwithHughJackman · 09/12/2007 10:58

What a revolting, mean spirited thing to say. For some people the internet is a lifeline to the outside world. Why don't you bog off back under your bridge.

QuintessentialShadowOfYuleTide · 09/12/2007 10:58

And what prompted this enlightened post?

Popcorn time?

Kathyate6mincepies · 09/12/2007 10:58

Load of twaddle Kaishay.

There are some deals where it costs very little more to have internet from your phone provider than just phone. Do you think people shouldn't have phone either?

collision · 09/12/2007 10:58

my library lets me log on free too!

I have peanuts and pretzels Snowmond if you want to share!!

FrannyandZooey · 09/12/2007 10:58

jeeez

RubySlippers · 09/12/2007 10:58

i think that is one of the nastiest OPs i have read in a while

Brandnewchristmaspyjamasgirl · 09/12/2007 10:58

Did someone got out of bed on the wrong side this morning?

Yabu btw maybe they access the www from work or are going to get cut off shortly or maybe they have a deal for 20.00 a month or something.

It is not your right to judge people anyway they are probably stressed enough without you maiking the feel worse about coming on here for advice.

Maybe you would like all the poor people to go back to the workhouse or something?

RubySlippers · 09/12/2007 10:59

i may even swear, and i never swear

cheeset · 09/12/2007 11:00

Unnecessary post IMO. Internet for me 5 pounds a month. Kids get the use of internet all yr round. I get the impression you really didn't think about this before you posted it.

However, I understand what you mean in general but maybe not the best example.

collision · 09/12/2007 11:01

Hang on though....wonder if her profile explains anything.

and Im NOT judging.

tartanandtired · 09/12/2007 11:01

Och go on Ruby.... you know you want to.

I agree that this is an exceptionally mean thing to say.

Emprexia · 09/12/2007 11:01

ech.. someone on a forum i go on.

she pays for broadband internet, but says she can't afford to buy her children any presents, and is asking if anyone has any toys they don't want and generally moaning.

Lifeline it may be.. and i know it is, but if its the diff between seeing my child smile on xmas morning and spending a few hours online, i know which i'd prefer.

Kaishay, I take it you know how much Broadband internet is?

Snowmond · 09/12/2007 11:03

Ooh collision I will have some pretzels please?

Or if you would rather my DD and I have just made cupcakes with barbie sprinkles!

Kathyate6mincepies · 09/12/2007 11:04

"but if its the diff between seeing my child smile on xmas morning and spending a few hours online, i know which i'd prefer. "

Well, one could argue that that was an irresponsible preference for short-term pleasures at the expense of an important source of information, education and support.

Or one could just say, cool, that's your choice.

cheeset · 09/12/2007 11:05

how much Broadband internet? This is the question we need answering, it all rests on this one thing.

FairyTaleOfNewYork · 09/12/2007 11:06

i would check kaishays profile.

but yes, when money gets tight i do look for cheaper internet options, get rid of sky etc etc.

havent had to do that for a whil.e. i went loopy without internet, would choose it over other 'luxeruies'

QuintessentialShadowOfYuleTide · 09/12/2007 11:06

I have asked for my post below to be removed, as it was mean spirited, but in my defence, OP has really provoked me.

Information and support is more important than anything for me to be able to put a smile on my childrens faces DAILY.

cheeset · 09/12/2007 11:09

QuintessentialShadowOfYuleTide i wasnt offended about your post, it was a reaction to the op.

RubySlippers · 09/12/2007 11:09

thought the OP was much nastier QS

lilacclaire · 09/12/2007 11:09

I think providing the kids with the internet all year round at say a fiver a week outweighs the few hours pleasure on one day of the week.
Please think before you open your mouth.
