The UK is a wonderful place to live

The sun is shining, the birds are singing, why would anyone want to be anywhere else. In fact the 1000s of migrants arriving everyday are a clear indication of how wonderful the UK is under the stewardship of the wise and entertaining Boris Johnson. Just think how awful it would be if Jeremy Corbyn was PM wearing cardigans and still searching for the magic money tree.
Everything is great, the UK is wonderful.

@lazylinguist

Not sure how anyone can read this thread and not see that the OP is on a pisstake tbh.

Of course, it's not really a very effective pisstake though. Because however shit various things are at the moment, the fact is that we are lucky to live here compared with lots of places. And yes, the fact that people are willing to risk life and limb to flee here is an indication of that. That doesn't mean we shouldn't ever complain and protest about the status quo though.

Clearly Lord know it’s a possibility take

And the one that don’t either agree that the Uk is shit and it gives them a chance to wheel out their complaints

Or, like me, they like the chance to highlight all the positives to the country.

So it’s still a decent enough thread

Although the op jumping in every now and then with her comments is just a bit odd really now

Reallyimeanreally2022 · 11/10/2021 08:37

Clearly most know it’s a piss take

Clearly most know it’s a piss take

That's not the impression I got from a lot of posts.

That's not the impression I got from a lot of posts.

But even if they didn’t, gives them a chance to off load their whinges or, as I say like me, to wax lyrical about actually the many wonderful features of this country.

So I don’t really see the problem?

lazylinguist · 11/10/2021 08:48

There's no problem Confused. I was merely making a comment about the topic and about the OP's motivation in posting (like everyone else).

@jgw1

The sun is rising, the birds are singing, another day dawns bright and cheerful in the merry old land of England. What a pleasure it is to be alive.
It certainly is a glorious Monday morning here too - just the icing on the cake in this green and pleasant land.
Mamamia7962 · 11/10/2021 09:02

StoneodDestiny - We have a very large population, over 68 million compared to Portugal which is just over 10 million. If you look at the latest statistics for deaths from covid, we are placed 9th in Europe below countries like Italy and Belgium. So although we have larger numbers of hospital admissions we also have larger numbers of people surviving COVID.

That is good news surely.

I’m going to take a punt that you don’t enjoy your job, don’t have many friends or hobbies and your family isn’t close.

You are incorrect.

@PlanDeRaccordement

Seriously considering paddling my kayak across the channel to the UK now. What was I thinking moving back to France?
Can you drive a lorry? Please paddle fast if so.

Of course there is no problem. There are no problems in this wonderful land we are blessed to call home.

So out of that list what is positive? Because I think anyone would agree

Your unhappiness with your lot in life is abundantly clear. And that’s going to be a lot more about your deeply personal circumstances

Ozanj · 11/10/2021 11:16

I do enjoy living in the UK more than I have in other places around the world.

sashagabadon · 11/10/2021 11:18

I do love Autumn in the U.K. but I also love Spring. Weekend just gone was perfect Autumn weather, if anything too hot.

I think you are confusing me with another poster. I am deeply happy that I get to live in the UK.

Bloody hell that's a bit of a stretch! It's just a funny thread, no need to lash out like that!

Ok you’re happy in the UK.. big laugh. Chuckle. Good one OP.

Doesn’t mean you’re not very unhappy with your personal life

And having read your history and this thread - that’s very clear

I’d forget about politics if I were you. It’s not helping your mental health

Thank you for your kind advice. As it happens I wasn't currently considering a career in politics. Maybe next week.

There's not a war here. We don't get any major disasters. The government doesn't kill/imprison people it doesn't like. If I get ill I get treatment. Children don't have to go to work. Tea is plentiful. It's never THAT hot or cold. No need to regularly bribe officials. Free of kangaroos. Decent safety regulations. The most dangerous animal is a snake that I have only ever properly seen once. It's pretty good here.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 11/10/2021 15:41

Well there are great things about the country itself - it’s a very beautiful place! Lush and green, great geographical variety etc

But I’m not sure that’s what you mean Grin

ConstanceGracy · 11/10/2021 16:31

Cool story bro..

thepastisanothercountry · 11/10/2021 17:15

YANBU at all OP.

Blue sky, blue passports, blue Boris. Singing birds and shining sun.. I can't see why anyone would want to be anywhere else.

thepastisanothercountry · 11/10/2021 17:18

@Mysterian We've got a bounder or two in government - we've no need of kangaroos

Gallowayan · 11/10/2021 17:24

Excuse me while I piss myself you have just invented irony how very clever of you.

Thank you it is very kind of you to say so. It seems that not everyone sees things that way, but that is their right.

The sun is gradually setting on this paradise in which we live.
