The UK is a wonderful place to live

The sun is shining, the birds are singing, why would anyone want to be anywhere else. In fact the 1000s of migrants arriving everyday are a clear indication of how wonderful the UK is under the stewardship of the wise and entertaining Boris Johnson. Just think how awful it would be if Jeremy Corbyn was PM wearing cardigans and still searching for the magic money tree.
Everything is great, the UK is wonderful.

Altogether now…
“Everything is awesome, everything is cool when you’re part of a team…”

UnshakenNeedsStirring · 10/10/2021 12:46

Arent you ashamed of yourself?!!!

@UnshakenNeedsStirring

Arent you ashamed of yourself?!!!
Confused
EatYourVegetables · 10/10/2021 12:52

Well some of the migrants might be coming because their countries are uninhabitable because we’ve bombed them? Just a thought.

luckylavender · 10/10/2021 12:52

@RandomLondoner - nothing was really different when the other Party was in Power 🤔. Off the very top of my head - I don't remember this many Food Banks, this many people living on the streets, I remember an excellent Sure Start scheme....

@UnshakenNeedsStirring

Arent you ashamed of yourself?!!!
Why should the OP be ashamed?

@Reallyimeanreally2022

My children are happy and healthy Go to wonderful schools I went for a beautiful run this morning in early sun I adore the town I live in in south east. Lots of amenities plus lots of natural beauty And my job is perfect for me My GP surgery is first rate

Life is good in this country

What a short sighted, 'I'm alright, Jack' attitude.

Much wrong in the UK and looks to be getting worse. Yes, the natural world is wonderful but the reality of many peoples daily lives is pretty awful. The cut to Universal credit just one example.

dongke · 10/10/2021 13:04

Its not perfect but my 5 year old regularly likes to tell me "we are very lucky we live in the safest country"...he is talking about the lack of hurricanes, twisters, volcanoes, earthquakes, killer spiders, crocodiles and lions Tbf it's true though, we are pretty lucky natural disaster and animal wise.

We are vv lucky in this aspect!

amusedtodeath1 · 10/10/2021 13:11

Grin I totally agree, in fact I think we should all fuck off on holiday and enjoy the peace and stability.

Innovationstandard · 10/10/2021 13:23

It's a funny thread, lord knows we need a few crumbs right now

Reallyimeanreally2022 · 10/10/2021 13:29

@CastAColdEye

So I can’t be happy and thankful for my lot In life because others have it worse than me?

Grin

@Pinkchocolate

What drugs are you taking OP? Apart from my family and friends there is nothing keeping me in this country and I say that as someone born here. It’s grey and cold and/or wet most of the time. During the pandemic people in other countries came together, in England we fought over toilet paper and covid positive people coughed and spat on innocent/non ill people. People recently stabbed each other while queuing to get petrol. Doctors and nurses have gone above and beyond and worked to the bone, for them and many others I am truly grateful. Overall I think when you compare the lifestyle of the majority in England and abroad, England is not a great place to live.
People came together in the UK as well. Are you forgetting the facebook groups to help people with their shopping, the million who volunteered to support the NHS, the people who volunteered to trial vaccines, etc etc There were bad things happening in other countries during the pandemic eg. www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-53367432 This poor man was beaten to death for simply doing his job www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-52537573 The mafia taking over food distribution in Italy www.euronews.com/2021/07/20/two-convicted-of-setting-fire-to-dutch-covid-19-test-centre Covid test centre burned down by rioters in the Netherlands

There's good and bad in every country. No need to be so negative about this country.and act like everything's perfect elsewhere.

ilovesooty · 10/10/2021 13:43

@Pythonista

And OP's attempt at sarcasm seems to have passed some people by
Probably because it isn't very good.
PickUpAPepper · 10/10/2021 17:05

Or was it pickupapeppers singing?

Oi!
(I mostly hit all the right notes)

FOJN · 10/10/2021 17:18

Yes I'm pretty happy with it, more or less as happy as I've been for all of the 35 years since I arrived. The most annoying thing about it as the whiny vocal minority who think it's the job of politicians to make their life better, instead of relying on themselves.

I hear the same complaints about conservative politicians now as I did 35 years ago, but funnily enough, nothing was really very different when the other party was in power. It's almost as if politicians don't have it within their power to solve the problems of the kind of people who expect them to make their lives better.

I completely agree, so many people seem to think it's someone else's fault that they are incapable of directing their own lives.

jgw1 · 10/10/2021 17:44

@Wroxie

I don't know who is more cringeworthy- OP writing this thick boring satire and thinking how very clever she is, the people who think she's serious and are upset by it, or those who think THEY'RE clever to ignore the satire and agree how great Britain is as if OP was serious.
Maybe the most cringeworthy is the person pointing it all out?

Only in wonderful England.

@arethereanyleftatall

Lol, your post didn't go quite the way you wanted it to, did it op?

Sorry to piss on your parade, but I also, genuinely, love it here.

Life is what you make it.

I'm not sure which way you think I wanted it to go?

I love living here too. Why wouldn't I, the sun is still shining, the birds are still singing.

DroopyClematis · 10/10/2021 18:06

The geese are arriving in massive numbers so I'm thinking that it might not bode well but some amazing formations! Thank goodness I don't live in Siberia as I'd only see the back ends of them.

I'm seriously worried about my mum; 83 , frail and with some serious health issues who lives 200 ish miles away.

But yeah! Strictly is on tv. ( It's effing shite!)
And Tesco is low on fucking Chardonnay!😱

Mynextname · 10/10/2021 18:15

Yep, we all have strictly to watch so all is fine. It doesn't matter that although we are a very rich nation the wealth gap is so huge that many poor people are worse off than in much poorer countries. I mean why should people's lives matter, as long as they have some birds to listen to all is well.

jgw1 · 10/10/2021 18:22

The sun is not shining any more.
Perhaps I was mistaken this morning and the UK is not a wonderful place to live.

I recall you front another thread
Your daughter was in hospital very ill for a very extended period
How did you feel about this country then?

Op

Don't get me started on the underfunding of the NHS and the nonsense that is the NHS internal market.
OP posts:
Reallyimeanreally2022 · 10/10/2021 18:32

So to the clear
She. Your daughter was very ill
In icu
In hospital for a very extended time

You didn’t feel blessed to be in this country
Where not once do you have to stress about how you’re going to pay for it.
