The UK is a wonderful place to live

The sun is shining, the birds are singing, why would anyone want to be anywhere else. In fact the 1000s of migrants arriving everyday are a clear indication of how wonderful the UK is under the stewardship of the wise and entertaining Boris Johnson. Just think how awful it would be if Jeremy Corbyn was PM wearing cardigans and still searching for the magic money tree.
Everything is great, the UK is wonderful.

Is that you lily?

Spidey66 · 10/10/2021 09:31

I'm on strong painkillers atm fo a broken arm. Within about 20 minutes of taking them I'm off My face. Have you been nicking them OP?

Changednamehere56 · 10/10/2021 09:32

Is circling, not are. Both murder and flock are singular nouns.

Spidey66 · 10/10/2021 09:33

Sorry for typos

Well I would have to know who you were to know if that were true.

Isn't it amazing that you were able to obtained such wonderful painkillers, what a wonderful country we live in.

I get that you're probably reacting to all the hyperbolic 'UK is shit' threads and agree that we are extremely lucky yo living here compared to many places around the globe. The majority of us have a good life here and I am very grateful to live in a stable, democratic, affluent, peaceful country.

But your reasoning is a bit off - it's not good because we've got some half decent weather and a pretty awful PM who may or may not be any worse than some other pretty awful options.

Wagglerock · 10/10/2021 09:34

It's great isn't it? I went the supermarket yesterday and about a third of the shelves were empty and there was barely any fresh fruit and veg, other people might think that's bad but I heartily thanked Boris for making me get my steps in as I walked to another shop to buy formula and nappies for my baby.

What a time to be alive.

I can now report that the crows is no longer circling within my view.

There is a beautiful fluffy cloud drifting across an otherwise blue sky instead.

About two thirds of the shelves were full of amazing products.

What a time it is to be alive.

So super that you were able to do that. How lucky we are in this country.
MrsSkylerWhite · 10/10/2021 09:36

Well the NHS is clearly in trouble: is your prescription late?

blameitonthecaffeine · 10/10/2021 09:37

This thread is like the Glad Game from Pollyanna!

@RandomLondoner

Yes I'm pretty happy with it, more or less as happy as I've been for all of the 35 years since I arrived. The most annoying thing about it as the whiny vocal minority who think it's the job of politicians to make their life better, instead of relying on themselves.

I hear the same complaints about conservative politicians now as I did 35 years ago, but funnily enough, nothing was really very different when the other party was in power. It's almost as if politicians don't have it within their power to solve the problems of the kind of people who expect them to make their lives better.

I completely agree with this view, great way to express it.
Shehasadiamondinthesky · 10/10/2021 09:38

Well everyone in camps over on France seem to think this is the holy land, are they going to be surprised when they get here.
Actually Germany has a lot more opportunities and cash for immigrants than we do, when I lived over there for a few years english people who'd been on benefits in the UK all their lives used to emigrate over there for better benefits and housing.

PlanDeRaccordement · 10/10/2021 09:39

Seriously considering paddling my kayak across the channel to the UK now. What was I thinking moving back to France?

GlitterBiscuits · 10/10/2021 09:39

It will all come tumbling down when we get the gas bills

How lucky are we to have natural resources to keep us warm and toasty and to cook the food we sometimes are able to get hold of and afford

Derrymum123 · 10/10/2021 09:40

Yes. Your Tory party life membership is in the post.
Many non British dancers and judges in Strictly last night. (Not a problem but stop calling them British)
Fuel bills going up, empty shelves, animals being gassed because there is no one to slaughter them, no truck drivers for delivering products & Christmas shortages expected.
Is that you Carrie Johnson?

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 10/10/2021 09:45

I agree op.

I’m looking forward to the times in between power cuts this winter. And my family not having to open any Christmas presents. How wonderful! Glad to be in the U.K.

But we are British we don't need Merkel, or Macron or Kurz, we are so good because we are British that we could have the local clown as our PM and the UK would still be the best place in the world to live.

Have you stopped to consider that there is no one to slaughter the pigs because everyone is so busy enjoying themselves and their leisure time in this wonderful country. Like our illustrious leader Boris who found time last week to give a most entertaining and informative speech before his next holiday.
