To ask why we aren’t talking about the fuel anymore?

We still have all our petrol stations empty, there has been the odd delivery but all the pumps have empty signs very quickly.

It doesn’t seem to be on the news anymore, are we just accepting that this is how we now live?

I thought it was starting to resolve itself now. I got petrol in Cambridge today, no queue.

Pazuzu · 03/10/2021 18:38

Midlands here. Absolutely no problem getting some a couple of nights ago.

Main issue hasn't been supply, rather it's been the press fuelled panic buying.

checkedcloth · 03/10/2021 18:38

It’s pretty difficult to forget about it when I’m panicking that I don’t have any!

Still absolutely impossible to get fuel where I am (Kent), one local station seems to be getting deliveries but is only allowing customers to buy fuel at night because it was causing terrible traffic in the day.

PippaOwl · 03/10/2021 18:40

@BelleOfTheProvince I'm sure it would be but unfortunately I'm not able to dedicate the time to research and list garages for you as I'm sure you can understand Grin

Oxfordshire is fine

Dragonpox · 03/10/2021 18:40

I'm in se. All garages in my area are shut.

Babymamamama · 03/10/2021 18:40

Good question. I don’t know I’m afraid. Where I am the forecourts are shut off. I’m lucky I don’t need to drive for work so I’m saving my third of a tank for emergencies and hoping this issue sorts itself out.

WhoNeedsaManOfTheWorld · 03/10/2021 18:41

I'm up North and we don't have any. It's a 30 min drive in either direction to get to the next petrol station so a big risk if they don't have any
When they get a delivery the queue blocks the road and they quickly run out

Tealightsandd · 03/10/2021 18:41

@Confiscatedpopit

SE… too much money (for some) and too little worries. More likely to panic buy.

Northerners- not enough £ to stock up and more likely to worry about actual problems.

Horrific generalisation but surely a grain of truth there…

I'll rise to the goad.

You know that's a load of horseshit.

Being homeless is the ultimate in no money.
In London alone, 165,000 people are without a home of their own.

Btw according to your suggestion, how do you explain the reports from last week of petrol station workers being attacked in the NW?

Tealightsandd · 03/10/2021 18:43

Are Insulate Britain still blocking traffic (including fuel deliveries) on the M25?

worrybutterfly · 03/10/2021 18:43

@Confiscatedpopit

SE has higher population density and also the longest average commute distance (by car) of anywhere in the country. Mainly because people are pushed out of the areas they work in by high property prices.

Most petrol stations near us have a £30 limit but still no fuel at all.

ForensicFlossy · 03/10/2021 18:44

East Midlands here, we had a few days of queues but all resolved here now.

MyPatronusIsACat · 03/10/2021 18:45

But everyone IS still gabbling on about it. Confused

WellTidy · 03/10/2021 18:46

Are here too. DH queued for about an hour last night and was able to buy diesel. But no petrol.

Macncheeseballs · 03/10/2021 18:47

Well tidy, has he a dual fuel vehicle?

KatherineJaneway · 03/10/2021 18:51

I'm in London but now things are calmer than they were. People are swapping info on petrol stations with fuel locally.

HouseOfFire · 03/10/2021 18:53

Horrific generalisation?

No shit

Not too much money for most of us, look at housing costs for a start

JADS · 03/10/2021 18:53

Maybe the media isn't as London centric as everyone thinks?

Still issues round here (SE), but you can get fuel if you are happy to queue.

Tealightsandd · 03/10/2021 18:55

Maybe the media isn't as London centric as everyone thinks?.

Well it was certainly never Londoner centric.

ufucoffee · 03/10/2021 18:56

No queues here. All petrol stations have petrol.

StartingGrid · 03/10/2021 18:57

Im just outside the M25, South East, filled up both cars no problem, one this afternoon, one on Thursday... hope those who haven't managed it so far do so soon!

Newnormal99 · 03/10/2021 18:58

Still issues round by me (London outskirts) but I am noticing an increase In People managing to get it in under half hour. I dashed out yesterday as soon as I saw someone post the garage had some and I queues about 10 minutes. I think some of the issue is location of some garages where they don't have big forecourts or are on junctions as these lead ti traffic chaos. However in most cases they are still selling out in a handful of hours after delivery I think.

Roominmyhouse · 03/10/2021 18:59

I’m in Kent, no idea what it’s like around me as I don’t need fuel and won’t for a week or so. Really hoping it’s over by then! But everyone is still talking about it.

Still on bbc news main front page too.

Fuel issues persist in south but 'over' elsewhere www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-58781445

CuckooCall · 03/10/2021 18:59

I'm in the SE. I thought this ridiculous situation would be significantly resolved by the end of last week so I held on rather than succumbing to panic buying, but I've now been trying to get fuel for the last few days but the queues have been ridiculously long and I haven't had the time to waste sitting in hours and hours of queues. Today every petrol station in town was shut. I haven't filled up since 2nd September and I fortunately don't have to use my car everyday, plus I've also avoided certain less necessary trips in the car to conserve fuel, but I am literally down to my last little bit of fuel now and I'm starting to feel quite panicked about being unable to fill up. I just don't know what to do.

Shade17 · 03/10/2021 19:00

Loads of fuel in my part of the midlands, not an issue!
