To ask why we aren’t talking about the fuel anymore?

We still have all our petrol stations empty, there has been the odd delivery but all the pumps have empty signs very quickly.

It doesn’t seem to be on the news anymore, are we just accepting that this is how we now live?

@idiotfacelicker

On the point about the south voting for Brexit so getting their comeuppance, see attached map. Let's not go there...
The area you point to and call “The North” is several hundred miles south of me.

Empty garages here in Dorset

EmmaGrundyForPM · 04/10/2021 18:56

I've just driven past three garages in Cambridge and the outskirts. All of them were out of fuel.

CoughingInAisle15 · 04/10/2021 19:05

Sorted in the North West, pretty much everywhere I’ve been past recently has fuel.

TheSunIsStillShining · 04/10/2021 19:20

SW London - 4 petrol stations and all ran out mid-last week. Next delivery: mid-next week at the soonest.
It might be old news, but still making our lives harder.

rslsys · 04/10/2021 19:22

Norfolk again. The Morrisons that I visited on Saturday evening (for shopping) had a 2.5+ hour queue for fuel.
In the vicinity again to day with my fuel light on so bit the bullet. 15 minute queue and no limits. Squirted £75 worth of diesel into my tank. Should be good for another 600+ miles. Guy at the pump in front managed less than £5 before his tank was full . . . .

idiotfacelicker · 05/10/2021 09:25

Well managed to get fuel. Got a lift to a further away petrol station, filled a ferry can to put in car to get to back further away petrol station to fill up. It shouldn't be this hard!

Finzi · 05/10/2021 14:24

Yes me too. Restricted to £30 worth @ £1.48/l 😱 (only E5 available) and I queued for an hour. Crazy. I now have 350 ish miles worth - phew!

I've the opposite problem- my car can only take e5 and none available still.
FourTeaFallOut · 05/10/2021 14:37

DH filled up the van yesterday at the first station with no queues. No problems around here, NE. He's stopped side eying my electric car so calm has been restored.

Finzi · 05/10/2021 14:38

@BelleOfTheProvince oh dear - ☹️

FrippEnos · 05/10/2021 17:19

In the south east where I am its definitely easing.

The queue for my local station is now just on the forecourt.
Still busy but not blocking the roundabout and the other garages are also managing to keep a decent level of fuel.

Before it was gone in 8 hrs.

checkedcloth · 05/10/2021 20:32

I’ve had to book annual leave, as I cannot get to work. Absolutely ridiculous

Got fuel at local station today NE London, on the way to work. And for the first time it was still open on the way home from work. It’s usually drained as soon as opened. Plus no one was queued behind me. So possibly easing here for the first time. It’s been totally awful here.
I’m full now and won’t need until Nov thank goodness. Never been so pleased to fill up !!

WhatAShilohPitt · 05/10/2021 22:05

Because we’re all fucking sick of it, probably. It’s not ‘new’ news when it’s the same story for weeks.

BelleOfTheProvince · 06/10/2021 09:15

I have a real dilemma now. Have run completely out of nappies, but only enough petrol for one trip. Worried I am going to run out somewhere unsafe with baby in the car, but can't stall any longer.
(Before anyone goes on about nappies not being eco we started with reusables but had to switch due to physio advice)
Does anyone know if breakdown on my insurance would.cover this?

TheYearOfSmallThings · 06/10/2021 09:18

I think they would rescue you, but many insurers charge if the reason for the call is running out of petrol.

Is there anyone you can borrow a few nappies from?

Gettingusedtothelimelight · 06/10/2021 09:23

@checkedcloth

Which county are you in. I'm Sussex and joined a Facebook Page that shows availability. Some are skating it saying it's causing more problems but it meant I could use the tiny amount of fuel I had left going to a garage that actually had some. Like you I needed it to get to work.

Not in time. I have the one he is in 😓. I have a few mum friends but they are working today. I only realised the nappy situation last night as I thought I had a pack left. In a queue now for the one e5 pump. Hoping the price has put people off and they'll be some left...
nannynick · 09/10/2021 13:53

Came past a Shell petrol station in North Hampshire on way to work this afternoon... closed - no fuel of any type.

The media may not be saying much now but the problem is not solved.

BashfulClam · 09/10/2021 15:33

I’m in Scotland, went at midday today and there were no queues and filled our tank no problem.

There are still some supply problems. However the mass hysteria which caused the panic buying has now subsided. It’s now easy to find fuel in most of the country, even if not always at the first petrol station you try.
LadyTiredWinterBottom2 · 09/10/2021 19:43

The country doesn't revolve around the SE.

Odd that although it's the most population dense it's also got good public transport links

I have got petrol twice without queuing in the past week.

BelleOfTheProvince · 09/10/2021 19:53

The south east is massively varied. London, no you very rarely need a car.
Coastal or rural Kent are very isolated in many areas.

BelleOfTheProvince · 09/10/2021 19:56

I mean we don't even have a path for about a mile in both directions on a national speed limit road.

Not ideal for commuting (or prams!)
