to think that the fuel 'issue' is over?

I've been driving around a bit this morning and have passed a few garages that seem to have normal numbers of cars on their forecourts and the queues have gone. AIBU to think that it is over? Or is your area still struggling?

YABU - still problems here
YANBU - all over

(sorry for the poll- like requests, I've been overthinking it and confused myself)

And just realised the bins haven't been emptied yet. I really hope they are just late as we already have an overfull kitchen bin.

ZoBo123 · 30/09/2021 13:30

We have had queues but not ran out at any point and regular deliveries. Seems relatively normal now (Cambridgeshire)

idontlikealdi · 30/09/2021 13:39

Depends where you are doesn't it. A complete shit show here in SE London.

godmum56 · 30/09/2021 13:46

hampshire, seems to be subsiding here

FreddyMercurysCat · 30/09/2021 13:51

Not subsiding in this part of Hampshire - petrol stations either have huge queues or are shut.

I'm on fumes so need to fill up.

FlorallyBankrupt · 30/09/2021 13:53

Rural Lincolnshire, no major issues now, fuel is at all the major petrol stations and some of the little ones and the queues have subsided.

scarpa · 30/09/2021 14:03

None in my bit of Manchester this morning, and a fair few stations in Blackpool empty too.

TempsPerdu · 30/09/2021 14:07

Suburban north London here - still gridlock around all petrol stations, frenzied discussions and rumours on local social media groups about where does/doesn’t have fuel and emptier than usual streets elsewhere as people can’t or are reluctant to use their cars. Situation shows no sign of abating here at the moment.

skodadoda · 30/09/2021 14:16

Sounds as though it’s patchy.

TableFlowerss · 30/09/2021 14:18

Fine here

OhGiveUp · 30/09/2021 14:24

Does anyone know what the fuel situation is in South Wales, around the Cardiff area?

TableFlowerss · 30/09/2021 14:31

And thankfully for the first time in a week, no coverage of it on the nation lunch time news.

Samcro · 30/09/2021 14:32

must tell the guy who just came to so some work at our house. he must have imagined queuing for nearly and hour.

Cuddlyrottweiler · 30/09/2021 14:39

NE. There were three days of big queues now it all looks normal, the station near me had all pumps with fuel and no queue at all.

Finzi · 30/09/2021 14:49

Very little availability round here - Berkshire ☹️

RumHoney · 30/09/2021 14:55

North Leeds. I went past 2 petrol stations at lunchtime - one out of fuel, the other with a £30 limit and a queue (but a fairly short one at least). So not over but not a complete lack of fuel.

LimitIsUp · 30/09/2021 14:57

@dunkaccino

North Yorkshire into East Yorkshire - Scarborough, Bridlington, Driffield areas and then North again.
I know the area well. Scarborough for example - miles from densely populated areas - a good hour away from York, and really only has small towns and villages surrouding. Not surprising that in a more sparsely populated area things have got back to normal quicker.

Good news for me as I may need to travel 600 miles round trip to visit my mother who has just had a stroke and been transferred from Scarboro to York hospital. At least it seems I will be able to get petrol for the return journey.

NautaOcts · 30/09/2021 15:00

Happy for you but not all over here - for diesel anyway. Think it’s been ok yesterday and today for unleaded. My DH went somewhere 5 miles away this morning and they ran out of diesel while he was in the queue. He only just had enough fuel to get back so now we have zero and it’s 4 miles to the nearest petrol station 🙄

thetesdybears · 30/09/2021 15:03

Central Scotland bear Glasgow. Been twice to get petrol and once there were no cars on forecourt because they had run out. Tried a few days later and it was no Pertrol, diesel only. Friend round the corner msgd me to say she had seen the tanker in late at night so my husband went at 7am and got some no bother.

My mum is nearby but another town about 12miles away and she's been unable to get petrol for days too.

I drive past a few yesterday and they had signs on pumps but cldnt read them as I passed I assume probably diesel only again.

Hoping it dies down in Next few days but been like this since Friday here.

Muchtoomuchtodo · 30/09/2021 15:06

Asda Leckwith seem to have been quite reliable. I’m not sure about further into the city though

Muchtoomuchtodo · 30/09/2021 15:07

Sorry, that was in reply to @OhGiveUp

OldTinHat · 30/09/2021 15:07

SE here. No queues at Asda but it was pay at pump only (my card doesn't work in those). Went to Morrison's, no diesel and only two pumps open for unleaded. Queued for five minutes and my very thirsty car is now happy again.

Pinksmyfavoritecolour · 30/09/2021 15:10

Nothing within a 10 mile radius at least in our village in Kent, my car is fine but our work truck for our business has 1/4 tank left, so I’m watching YouTube videos to syphen enough out of car so the truck can do delivery tomorrow, steel beams won’t go in my car sadly.

NothingIsWrong · 30/09/2021 15:10

I just got £30 of petrol in Bicester no problem. There was one car in front of me, which is no worse than a normal day. They were limiting it to £30, but it was moving quickly

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 30/09/2021 15:15

Not over. My DP is working in Nottingham today (about 1.5hrs from where we live). Every fuel station he passed was out of unleaded - he finally found some just before he ran out.

He usually works locally so hasn't needed much fuel since the idiots started panic buying, so it hasn't really affected us until today.
Our local fuel station (West Yorkshire) is still limiting to £20 spend and running much shorter hours.
