to think that the fuel 'issue' is over?

I've been driving around a bit this morning and have passed a few garages that seem to have normal numbers of cars on their forecourts and the queues have gone. AIBU to think that it is over? Or is your area still struggling?

YABU - still problems here
YANBU - all over

(sorry for the poll- like requests, I've been overthinking it and confused myself)

BBC reporting the Petrol Retailers Association as saying 27% of members have no fuel at all. I'm beginning to get quite concerned, as I had expected bigger improvements by now

Garage down the road from here has only diesel, and a massive queue (affecting two junctions with traffic lights, as well as turnings to side roads). The next nearest (out of fuel today, but had a delivery earlier n the week) had unbelievable queuing and congestion.

OhGiveUp · 30/09/2021 16:58

@ Muchtoomuchtodo Thanks 🙂

BumFuzzledMum · 30/09/2021 17:25

Not over here either (Herts/Essex border). Massive queues at the petrol pumps still open. Others are shut as run out of fuel due to increased demand.

We filled up on Friday night. Still got 3/4 of a tank left driving 80+ miles a day. The muppets queuing can’t have run out already. They must be topping up daily in small amounts fuelling the constant massive queues. I doubt they’re all driving 4 times as much. They’re probably wasting a a lot of fuel queuing!

Why would you want to spend an hour or more queuing just to put a few quids worth of petrol in your car?

I just don’t get it. Am I missing something?

1mx1mChocolateBrownie · 30/09/2021 17:39

The 30£ limit thing is now making it worse I think. Means those commuting using more are having to queue maybe twice as much as usual.

Coogee · 30/09/2021 17:44

I have bought petrol and diesel today. Different petrol stations. No queues anywhere.

lockdownalli · 30/09/2021 17:54

SE. Drove around for ages - all petrol stations closed, some with police attending.

Won't be able to go to work on Monday.

DonGray · 30/09/2021 18:01

London still bad - queues causing gridlock

Words · 30/09/2021 19:27

Was told no queues yesterday. Drove to nearest town - all four places out of fuel.
Rural West Yorkshire

icedcoffees · 30/09/2021 19:29

Definitely not over.

We haven't had fuel in any local garages since Tuesday and we're not due another delivery until Monday.

The nearest garage with fuel is 15 miles away and has a cap of £10 per purchase.

ZombeaArthur · 30/09/2021 19:30

I’m in Yorkshire and things here look to be more or less back to normal. At the weekend we had police directing traffic and now quiet forecourts.

DemBonesDemBones · 30/09/2021 19:30

Not over here, village just outside Reading.

mum2jakie · 30/09/2021 19:41

Staffordshire town, no more issues here. Filled up with no queues at all today and has been like that for last few days

forinborin · 30/09/2021 19:45

SE, yes still issues but seems to have improved from earlier this week.

Crazycat53 · 30/09/2021 19:47

Definitely still a problem here. (Rural Norfolk, less than a 1/4 tank & no regular bus service 😬)

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 30/09/2021 19:48

Couldn't get out of my road yesterday due to people queuing for the BP garage on the main road, and couldn't get in to Sainsburys today due to the queue for their garage. So not over where I am.

user1493494961 · 30/09/2021 19:51

OK in my part of Wales.

WoodburnersRUs · 30/09/2021 19:52

Rural here - busy petrol stations but all in stock

UltimateBugKilla · 30/09/2021 19:54

Im SE and its definitely calmed, the garage next to work place was empty with both petrol and diesel last night.

Whattheflecker · 30/09/2021 19:56

What on earth is the point of maximum amounts?! They'll just have to keep coming back for more 🤦

DunderMifflinSalesRep · 30/09/2021 19:59

My husband went to fill up today. He didn't notice the sign saying "max fill £30" and he got up to £41 before the thing cut out. He went in and got an earful from the lady on the till who told him she cut him off when she realised how much he was putting in. Speaking to others in the town, it sounds like they did have it set up to cut off at £30 up until yesterday, but obviously turned that feature off today despite still expecting people to notice the sign and adhere to it.

Anyway, he said it wasn't even busy and it's the only petrol station in a ten mile radius.

TinaWeymouthsBass · 30/09/2021 19:59

East Midlands here, of the 6 service stations around town all are closed except large Tesco with queues for miles in all directions. I went to Tesco at 6 am this morning and the queues were already ridiculous so went home.

Sewfrickinamazeballs · 30/09/2021 20:01

DH used his last 20 miles looking for diesel this morning. 11 petrol stations, nothing at any of them. He has 1 mile range left so will need to now wait for the local station to refuel whenever that is. One delivery this week so far. Hants/berks border

ChoccyJules · 30/09/2021 20:02

Just been to collect a parcel in a big Sainsbury’s and the petrol station is shut. In Cambs.

Nobranothanks · 30/09/2021 20:07

It's not over here in Kent. In the 5 mile radius of my work (not in a town centre) there are 15+ garages - 1 of them had fuel With a £40 limit. The garage we have an account with had a delivery on Tuesday (delivery was much less than expected and ordered) the queue was nearly a mile long and the fuel sold through in hours. Most other local garages are receiving deliveries, of lower quantities, and selling through them in 3-4 hours.

We run a haulage company and this is starting to become a bit of a concern. My DP drove from east Kent to the Midlands and back, on the entire round trip there was one garage with fuel.

BatshitCrazyWoman · 30/09/2021 20:07

@DonGray

London still bad - queues causing gridlock
Yes, same here in south east London/Kent. Buses are cancelled or on diversion too. Queues and gridlock are also causing problems for the tankers delivering - saw a mile long queue at an empty petrol station today 🙄

So no, not over, it's just as bad as last week. I think people are keeping their tanks topped up, so the queues continue. I have barely any fuel.
