to think that the fuel 'issue' is over?

I've been driving around a bit this morning and have passed a few garages that seem to have normal numbers of cars on their forecourts and the queues have gone. AIBU to think that it is over? Or is your area still struggling?

YABU - still problems here
YANBU - all over

(sorry for the poll- like requests, I've been overthinking it and confused myself)

@FanGirlX

I know this thread is anecdotal but it looks like the problems are mostly SE?

1-2 car queues and caps of £35 elsewhere but otherwise no problems filling up?

BBC report agrees with you.

Filling station near here (London) had a delivery and the queue must have been close to a (literal) milelong, and buggered up traffic flow over two major sets of lights

SquirmOfEels · 02/10/2021 12:26

Meant to link the report!!

South East here, I am fortunate not to have to go to work, though I can’t walk too far due to recent surgery and my health conditions so I am fed up as I tried and failed to get fuel on Wednesday when I had to go to a medical appointment and now only have enough to get me to the garage if I can be sure to fill up.

DH will take me anywhere I really need to go as his company car is a hybrid, but I would like to be able to go out. I have a hospital appointment on Tuesday and if I can’t get fuel DH will have to cancel a trip to London to take me. We are due to go away for a few days the week after next and are worried we won’t get enough fuel by then ☹️

Sloth66 · 02/10/2021 12:59

Easy Anglia, I’ve been low on fuel for a week. I’ve been looking since last Friday, not yet found anywhere with fuel.
Tried 6 garages yesterday at various times, nothing. I work in the community, my car is now running on red, I can’t risk running out.

Livefortherain · 02/10/2021 13:04

Lowestoft here - DH managed to fill up in Asda this morning about 10:40. Only a couple of cars in there, he pulled straight into a spot before we got our shopping. It was still pretty empty in there when we finished the shopping.

LimitIsUp · 02/10/2021 13:18

No, not just the South East - also on the South Coast (central South - but nobody calls it that). The Times also referenced continuing problems in parts of the Midlands.

Katerurn · 02/10/2021 13:18

SE and yet again our town is in gridlock as we have stations either end. The fuel caps just aren't working as people are having to repeatedly queue in order to get enough for the week.

Instead, they should have a minimum fuel spend. It will stop people queueing to 'top' their car up by a measly fiver. The rule should not apply to bikes as they have much smaller tanks. They should also stop people filling Jerry cans unless they can provide proof of why they need them!

jonjoy · 02/10/2021 13:20

DH got fuel in SW London at a Sainsbury's garage this morning around 8.30 no problem.small queue but in and out quickly and well organised. However most of the last week I have passed many petrol station queues or closed garages. So think it's a bit hit and miss.

RavingAnnie · 02/10/2021 13:34

Ha ha ha! My DH has spent the morning trying to get fuel. Everywhere is closed. In Sussex near coast. Luckily a local FB group has come good and he's heading to somewhere that has just had a tanker delivery now. Phew!

kickupafuss · 02/10/2021 14:01

SE here and its still chaos` My shopping delivery was delayed today because of the traffic congestion around town - everyone trying to find places with fuel. I have avoided topping up following government guidance to buy as normal but now I am nearly out of fuel. DP managed to queue for an hour on Thursday to fill up so he could get to Devon and back for work.

I just hope Monday will be better.

Suja1 · 02/10/2021 14:10

Depends where you live. Awful in London and the SE. I live close to a petrol station and haven't been able to get out of my road due to queues which last from 6am until the evening. Gridlock, problems for emergency vehicles... it is very depressing. Some friends have problems getting to work as they either drive or would take a bus. Both impossible with the roads being blocked.

user1467536289 · 02/10/2021 15:30

Not here either. I wish the garages would switch off their massive signs showing price per litre if they have no petrol to sell Angry

Bard6817 · 02/10/2021 16:21

Kent. The few stations that have fuel have long queues.

user1467536289 · 02/10/2021 16:43

Surrey - most forecourts are closed, when they open there is a queue instantly

SpeckledlyHen · 02/10/2021 16:51

It seems to definitely be a regional thing I fear. I live down south (surrey) and can't get fuel for love nor money. I have just been up north on holiday for a week (the lakes) and got diesel no problem at the big Asda - yes they were limiting to £30 per car but no drama, it was busy but seemed a pretty normal amount of busy. We drove back down the M40 and there was no fuel at any garages and two we drove past off the motorway did not have fuel.

Lightisnotwhite · 02/10/2021 17:00

Yes annoying.

Also only the supermarket has people directing traffic. So there are empty pumps in front because people can’t see what fuel is left in them and just go to the first they can see.

nannannanana · 02/10/2021 17:20

Liverpool. Went to Asda today about midday. No queues. All fuel available.

picketingpanic · 02/10/2021 17:39

Kent. It's all fucked. I managed to get half a tank yesterday only because I have a friend that lives opposite a petrol station and she texted me that it had fuel.

Nowhere else in a ten mile radius has any fuel.

BrendaBubbles · 02/10/2021 20:00

One positive of this is maybe people will realise just how ridiculously overpopulated the south east is and with WFH becoming more popular move to more sensible regions

Wafflethefuckinwonderdog · 02/10/2021 20:02

No issues here

Autumngoldleaf · 02/10/2021 20:02

Se and dh is going to take my car to hunt I've got quarter tank left but will need at least half to last the week.

BlueberrySugar · 02/10/2021 20:06

SE and ques on roads everywhere!!

Friolero · 02/10/2021 20:13

We filled up in Surrey today, but had to pass a couple of empty petrol stations first before finding one that had some.

user1472151176 · 02/10/2021 20:59

I live NE and everything seems normal. No queues and I haven't had any problems getting petrol.

Doublechins · 02/10/2021 21:16

I'm in NE and have never struggled to get fuel throughout this
