to think that the fuel 'issue' is over?

I've been driving around a bit this morning and have passed a few garages that seem to have normal numbers of cars on their forecourts and the queues have gone. AIBU to think that it is over? Or is your area still struggling?

YABU - still problems here
YANBU - all over

(sorry for the poll- like requests, I've been overthinking it and confused myself)

Buckinghamshire here, long queues everywhere although deliveries coming in every couple of days.

PaperDolphin · 02/10/2021 21:38

I think it is a regional thing - London and SE still bad. I am on 2 bars and hoping to last the week by which point it will apparently get better as the army are doing deliveries from Monday...

picketingpanic · 03/10/2021 19:43

@BrendaBubbles

One positive of this is maybe people will realise just how ridiculously overpopulated the south east is and with WFH becoming more popular move to more sensible regions
I like it here, thanks. All my family are here.
PeachyPeachTrees · 04/10/2021 16:46

Still dreadful in SE and it's now been over a week of fuel shortages.

RumblyMumbly · 04/10/2021 17:00

SE none in my local vicinity. Family elsewhere in England say apart from an occasional short queue its available normally.

Macncheeseballs · 04/10/2021 17:03

Brendabubbles, one positive of this is how ridiculously dependent so many people are on petrol and diesel vehicles and start looking at more sensible alternatives

South East London here. Lots of stations have no fuel and the ones that do have queues although they aren't as long as last week. I managed to fill up this afternoon (half hour wait). I have a tiny hybrid car that doesn't use a lot of fuel so that should see me through until next month. Hopefully by then this will all be over.

WhatisanODP · 04/10/2021 18:11

Nothing at all in Aylesbury at the moment. So no, not over!

I saw an Asda tanker this afternoon followed by a green goddess full of soldiers. That took me back to the 70s!

South Wales here , no issues. To be honest there was a 48hour panick but after that it all returned to normal. So the initial Friday so crazy waits for fuel, Saturday still lines of people waiting, but when I went on the Sunday to get my pay day tank I didn't have to wait and the station was pretty normal and has been since. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I was however up near Oxford on Saturday, and things looked bad, drove past a few closed stations.

RumblyMumbly · 04/10/2021 18:30

Our school buses were affected last week (SE) but ok today

LemonRedwood · 04/10/2021 18:31

Still not good in Herts. Had to go into the office today - other side of the county. Passed my 3 local petrol stations on the way in. All still closed with no fuel signs. Tried 4 other stations on the way home in various parts of the county. 3 out of 4 closed. Joined the queue at Sainsbury's where they had unleaded but no diesel. Reached the front of the queue and the barrier was pulled across in front of me and I was told "Sorry, we've run out now."

Got home just as my petrol light came on. Luckily I can WFH for the rest of this week.

DrFoxtrot · 04/10/2021 18:35

I'm in Lancashire and all four petrol stations on my 15 mile journey to work were completely empty. Some colleagues have said there should be some further afield in the opposite direction to my home, so I'm going on a search tomorrow. I was hoping it would have settled by now.

Muchtoomuchtodo · 04/10/2021 18:35

South East Wales here and fuel stations are still running out in between their deliveries. It seems to be either petrol or diesel now though, rather than everything all at once.

Lonelycrab · 04/10/2021 18:48

Nothing for miles here by the sound of it, every garage I drove past today was empty. North Hampshire. Whenever a delivery arrives it’s all gone about 12 hours later.

I think shows the opposite. Just how much people love and need cars and don’t want to use the alternatives.
Lightisnotwhite · 04/10/2021 19:30

There were massive queues yesterday again but I guess that was panic buying before Monday work.
I got petrol with no queue at 6.30am however which has been unthinkable. Hopefully it’s calming down now the army are being put in (not that it matters if they actually are as long as people stop buying it)

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 04/10/2021 20:08

Managed to get petrol at big Tesco 30 min queue. The local sainsbury,Tesco Express and 2 BP garages on the route were all shut.
No Diseal at Tesco though..
