to think that the fuel 'issue' is over?

I've been driving around a bit this morning and have passed a few garages that seem to have normal numbers of cars on their forecourts and the queues have gone. AIBU to think that it is over? Or is your area still struggling?

YABU - still problems here
YANBU - all over

(sorry for the poll- like requests, I've been overthinking it and confused myself)

Massive queues here

And if there isnt a massive queue it’s because they are closed

(To be fair the roads are blocked because people are queuing, not everyone in the queue is queuing if you see what i mean)

Dh just went out to fill a car with Diesel, id driven past the garage about 45 minutes ago and rang him. They were out by the time he got there

GiveMyHeadPeaceffs · 30/09/2021 13:04

We've had no problems at any stage; no queues and plenty of fuel. I'm in Northern Ireland.

Proudboomer · 30/09/2021 13:05

My local independent which I usually use had a delivery yesterday. 12 hours of continuous queues shut early but opened at his normal time of 6,30am what was left of the fuel was sold by 10am and his next delivery is tomorrow. The owner has been out every time he has opened marshalling the queues and limiting to £30 each.
Other garages is hit and miss whether they are open or not but if they are then there is long queues.

Proudboomer · 30/09/2021 13:06

Forgot to add I am on the south coast

Gimlisaxe · 30/09/2021 13:06

Also SE

Local petrol station got petrol today not telling you where

Massive queues to get in, but there is loads more cars on the road today then there have been on the previous 3 days

fluffythedragonslayer · 30/09/2021 13:09

South East London. Complete fucking shitshow here still.

Foolsrule · 30/09/2021 13:10

I don’t think it ever started here. I tried one petrol station that had just run out on Friday so went to the next one. Bit of a queue but not long. Managed to get petrol for DH’s car too and most garages looked back to normal this morning. The media really hasn’t helped and neither have people like my scaremongering boss who has used it as an excuse not to come into work the last few days. We live in the same area. If I can get petrol, so can she!

RufustheBadgeringReindeer · 30/09/2021 13:10

@Proudboomer

Forgot to add I am on the south coast
Ooo yeah

Forgot to say i am south coast as well

AFuturisticalSound · 30/09/2021 13:11

@Ishouldbeworkinginstead

cough there was never an issue here in the first place. Local petrol stations set limits to £30 the day it all kicked off.
While more drivers can get fuel it a max limit makes the queues and congestion worse as more cars can fill up per delivery and people who drive long distances have to queue twice as often. I haven't been out myself but from what I see on facebook queues are becoming quite a safety issue in my area
morechocolateneededtoday · 30/09/2021 13:11

seems to be more of an issue in greater London & home counties? Which is ironic, as they have presumably the best public transport networks!

The biggest issue is the traffic means all buses are not moving or being diverted so cant be relied upon either. Never been more grateful that we don't actually need the fuel for school run or work.

Shimy · 30/09/2021 13:14

Just finished queuing for 1hr 40mins to get my max £35 petrol so no, I don’t think the ‘fuel issue’ is over..

YouCantBeSadHoldingACupcake · 30/09/2021 13:16

I'm in Essex, a few nearby petrol stations have petrol. Nowhere has diesel.

Sorry wrong thread, have asked MN to delete

copernicium · 30/09/2021 13:19

I couldn't get any until Tuesday but since then it's been more like intermittent closures, small queues, half the pumps on a forecourt closed etc; rather than none in the entire city.

Porfre · 30/09/2021 13:20

Not been able to check today.
But the ones I passed yesterday. 3 were shut.
And one only had unleaded.
Today saw one had a delivery. Small queue. But couldn't see what fuels they had.
So still short in my area I assume. NW.
Havent been past the 3 petrol station I usually go past today on the school run cos had to get to work early. But will see them later when I drop kid off to after school activity.

LongCOVID · 30/09/2021 13:20

Not round here (SE). No rubbish collections due to no fuel, no buses, huge queues whenever anyone smells petrol is available, idiots driving on the wrong side of the road and traffic islands. Absolutely crazy.

LadyDanburysCane · 30/09/2021 13:21

I’m in SE London and none of the garages I’ve gone past today have any fuel…..

Ruralbliss · 30/09/2021 13:21

Drive to six petrol stations yesterday all fuelless. Left my DD stranded in the town where she goes to school in fear of not having enough petrol to get there and back.

Phoned local petrol station yesterday morning who advised they were due a delivery but it never showed up. They are now saying it's due at 2ish today so I'll pop down between meetings but DD is bracing herself to crash another overnighter with a relative in same town as school. She's not impressed. Has homework and sports kit here not with her.

Ruralbliss · 30/09/2021 13:22

N Shropshire btw

Boopeedoop · 30/09/2021 13:23

Here In the southeast we have had ice cream vans offering to take NHS workers to work and the circus offering fuel to emergency services.

It's been mental.

spudjulia · 30/09/2021 13:24

Small rural market town in E Mids here, and our local petrol station ran out last Friday. It's not had a delivery since and they don't know when they'll get one. I don't have enough petrol to drive to the next town anymore.

Fifthtimelucky · 30/09/2021 13:25

I'm in the SE and things are not yet back to normal.

I haven't filled up for about 3 weeks and am running low so hope to get some this evening when I have to go out. Our nearest petrol station had fuel this morning, but there were long queues when I drove past, so with a bit of luck they will have died down by the time I go out.

Mind you I thought that a couple of days ago when the petrol station had its last delivery. Unfortunately I left it too late as it ran out.

julieca · 30/09/2021 13:26

E Midlands. I don't need petrol but my nearest petrol station still has no fuel. The next nearest has fuel and queues, but they are way smaller than even yesterday. So getting better, but no it is not over.

RaoulDufysCat · 30/09/2021 13:26

SW London. All my local petrol stations still have long queues, albeit not quite as long as they were a few days ago.
