to think that the fuel 'issue' is over?

I've been driving around a bit this morning and have passed a few garages that seem to have normal numbers of cars on their forecourts and the queues have gone. AIBU to think that it is over? Or is your area still struggling?

YABU - still problems here
YANBU - all over

(sorry for the poll- like requests, I've been overthinking it and confused myself)

Nope, my husband very nearly got stuck in Hertfordshire because the garages were either completely out or such long queues they were being turned away. He had to sit in a queue with the engine off and fully expected the engine not to turn back on again at some point. Then all the way back up the a1 all the services had queues or were closed.

Lupinhere37 · 01/10/2021 19:14

South East Wales; on the English border. No fuel. Each time there’s a delivery, the queuing starts again.
I’m being careful but DD has to go to hospital three days running in Gloucester next week; 70 mile round trip each time. Just hoping it improves. I think I have enough fuel to make the trips but it will leave me on vapour if I can’t fill up.

BrendaBubbles · 01/10/2021 19:19

It’s definitely not over down here on the M4. Queued up for ages despite a tanker being there, eventually got to the pump after 45 minutes. I only needed £10 but decided to fill to the brim after all that waiting and everyone else seemed to be maxing it out too

QuornSausagesAreTheDevilsPenis · 01/10/2021 19:22

Nope. Motorway signs on my commute this morning indicating no fuel at all at one services and HGV only at the next 20-odd miles on. Cars queuing out of the petrol station and blocking a dual carriageway junction on my way home again tonight 🙄
I filled up last week before it all kicked off and have been fortunate (?) enough to be off sick until today so I've got plenty left for now!

BabyBlueEyez · 01/10/2021 19:23

Really bad in Kent, people queueing 1-3 hours, towns gridlocked, kids cannot get to school, buses diverted. Fuel rationed at some stations. People camping in supermarket car parks waiting for the fuel station to open at 10pm. Complete and utter nightmare and no signs of easing off

Awful in our town in Hampshire. Only a couple of stations are being re-fueled. A couple haven't had a delivery all week.
My fuel is on red and I can't risk using it until I know I can fill up.

lannistunut · 01/10/2021 19:29

One local petrol station is intermittently open, the other has been pemanently shut.

It is definitely not sorted.

Shieldingending · 01/10/2021 19:31

No problems here – north-west. Just the prices have rocketed!!

DobbyTheHouseElk · 01/10/2021 19:32

All fine in the SW. Drove past petrol stations today with fuel and no cars anywhere. It didn’t really get started here. A few supermarkets were empty for an hour or so. The places out of town were fine throughout.

Thirtyrock39 · 01/10/2021 19:33

Touch wood east mids seems ok now - a few closed petrol stations but lots open and normal with no queues ...this has been the case last 24 hours so hopefully a bit of a ripple effect as I read last night things were easing in the north

Chunkymenrock · 01/10/2021 19:45

South Wales mostly ok for unleaded. I think diesel still a problem.

Rockbird · 01/10/2021 19:45

Surrey here. Filled up this evening no problem at all, just like normal. A few petrol stations are closed but no massive queues around here at the moment.

JesusIsAnyNameFree · 01/10/2021 20:07

Still shit in my part of the midlands. One petrol station on the way to work which has been out all week. Don't know if I should go hunting for it or keep what little I have left to get into the office until I run dry. Honestly no fucking clue.

LIZS · 01/10/2021 20:38

Same 3 closed again locally today, but queue for the one open shorter this evening than when I got fuel yesterday lunchtime. Still limited to £35 per car though.

tanyavt · 01/10/2021 20:54

Just spent half an hour driving round my local town (SE) to 6 different filling stations, none of which had any fuel! Driving on fumes now.

Not in South London it isn’t. It’s still a very real issue. Nothing normal about people asking where has had delivery and queuing for hours to then buy a limited amount.
CosmicComfort · 01/10/2021 21:12

Completely concur with those saying Sussex is a nightmare! Never known anything like it, don’t remember it being this bad in 2000! Had to queue once for fuel but it was over quickly.

We have to go to Oxford on Sunday and I am hoping I can fill up on return to Sussex. I am normally in bed by 10pm but have been hearing of places opening at night to avoid traffic chaos so might have a late night or early morning to fill up at this rate😫

EcoCustard · 01/10/2021 21:14

I ran out of diesel yesterday. No diesel left locally by the time DH got there yesterday and he tried the 3 closest to us. They all had unleaded though.

He finally managed to get some at Morrison’s was limited to £25 and was questioned by staff as he had a jerrycan. I had nothing to get me to a station or queue. Diesel seems to be lacking in my part of Lincolnshire, unleaded seems more available but that is according to local Facebook pages.

firsttimedad79 · 01/10/2021 21:15

Definitely not over. Was in the southwest today in me lorry and was down to 7% fuel before I found somewhere to fuel up :(

MrsJackWhicher · 01/10/2021 21:16

Filled up this afternoon only 5min wait.
No diesel or E10 though.

Strangeways19 · 01/10/2021 21:24

yep, someone voted Brexit....& this is where it leads...

Lightisnotwhite · 01/10/2021 21:32

Hopefully the fact that’s it’s over most places will transmit to the SE?

Don’t know whether it’s the 4x4’s or just too many people with more money than sense where I live.

jwpetal · 01/10/2021 22:08

11 petrol stations in our general area and all were empty till 6.30 am this morning, when one got petrol. 1 hour in a queue to get petrol with a £30 limit and empty by 9.30.remaining stations still closed. We were on fumes this morning and I know many others still without.

julieca · 01/10/2021 22:10

The government is allowing HGV drivers to the UK to solve this fuel crisis, whilst also saying at the same time the fuel crisis does not exist. They have also been training military personnel to drive fuel tankers.
Why do all this if there really was not a fuel crisis?

RoseMartha · 01/10/2021 22:30

Not here either south east.

Although its nothing like last Fri/Sat was.

Slightly better now people are not posting all over fb where the last delivery was. Whole town came to a standstill

I got my first lot of petrol since the 20th of Sept yesterday. I know this sounds ridiculous but I was a bit traumatised that I had to go to a busy garage out of my comfort zone but I managed. And only had to wait about five mins in the queue.
