To be glad it’s cold and wet?

I have been waiting for the whole of September for it to finally feel like autumn! I was getting so fed up of being hot and sweaty- it’s September, I want to be in jumpers and scarves and boots! I feel so cosy when it’s grey and wet outside. Obviously I don’t want it to piss it down all the time, but I don’t mind the odd bit of rain. And I definitely prefer the cold and the dark (great, I’ve made myself sound like some sort of sewer creature).

I love the calmness of autumn & winter. I find summer too intense- not just the heat but the fact that there’s so much going on all the time, it gets too much for me. I work in an industry that changes noticeably with the seasons. There’s less going on in the colder months, less stuff to go wrong, so less stress for me.

I have genuinely noticed how much better a mood I’ve been in the last couple of days since it’s gone cooler.

@BoreiPuriHagafen

Yabu. I'm fucking depressed, cold, my gutters are leaking.

I can expect months of sinking into ever deeper depression, suicidal misery and despair, in cold and darkness.

But hey, as long as you can wank on about cosy jumpers.

Well I have reverse SAD which makes me suicidal in Summer, but I don't accuse other people of "wanking on" about sunshine and long days...

@Changednamehere56 thank you, I really didn’t appreciate that PPs comment at all.

Agree that was pathetic. I did enjoy @MrsSkylerWhite image of the cats blowing in though 😹

LimitIsUp · 04/10/2021 22:54

@MasterBeth

But it’s been autumnal for most of the summer! Cloudy, cool and grey. YABU.
I think I've experienced a different summer to some people. It's been a very dry summer - at least on the south coast (my garden has been struggling), and whilst not blisteringly hot, it's been a steady, pleasantly 19-23 degrees most of the time

I also have MS and honestly, being warm or hot is insufferable.

I'm hot all the bloody time and very rarely put the heating on.

Love the winter!

Looks like it’s going to get warm again for a few days hurrah 😀

Oh bum.

This has surely got to be the warmest September/October we have ever had.

Thatsplentyjack · 09/10/2021 08:16

It was 4° here on Wednesday until about 11 o'clock. It was so nice. Bloody back to 16° yesterday. I know that's not really hot but ffs it was the 16th of October!

Thatsplentyjack · 09/10/2021 08:16

Sorry 8th of October. Dont know where the 16th came from.

Glassofshloer · 09/10/2021 08:18

YANBU. Love it, feels very fresh & invigorating compared with our muggy washout of a summer.

I don't like Autumn, and up here in Yorkshire the summer hasn't been especially good. A hot couple if weeks in July, really. I think people forget not everyone lives is the South of England where it's usually warmer.

I live in Scotland, and it's been too warm here for me 😂
hangrylady · 09/10/2021 09:24

Autumn is falsely advertised if you ask me! You're made to think it's lovely colours and piles of crunchy leaves and what you actually get is pissing rain and wind. I only like it because Christmas is on the horizon and I do love Christmas.

Agadorsparticus · 09/10/2021 09:27

Nope, absolutely hate being cold and wet and the darkness is so depressing. All the stupid layers I have to wear and carry an umbrella at all times just in case. Stress is now building towards Xmas, will I be organised enough this year? Constant headache of having to sort everything out. There's just nothing to look forward to.

I'll just hibernate until April.

My3cents1 · 09/10/2021 09:31

I found heat really messes with MS. I hope you are getting all the help you need with your diagnosis

MiaMarshmallows · 09/10/2021 17:00

Boiling hot here again. Actually getting annoying now.
