AIBU?

To be glad it’s cold and wet?

I have been waiting for the whole of September for it to finally feel like autumn! I was getting so fed up of being hot and sweaty- it’s September, I want to be in jumpers and scarves and boots! I feel so cosy when it’s grey and wet outside. Obviously I don’t want it to piss it down all the time, but I don’t mind the odd bit of rain. And I definitely prefer the cold and the dark (great, I’ve made myself sound like some sort of sewer creature).

I love the calmness of autumn & winter. I find summer too intense- not just the heat but the fact that there’s so much going on all the time, it gets too much for me. I work in an industry that changes noticeably with the seasons. There’s less going on in the colder months, less stuff to go wrong, so less stress for me.

I have genuinely noticed how much better a mood I’ve been in the last couple of days since it’s gone cooler.

I love autumn for all the reasons you've specified, it's my favourite season. BUT....I have not liked the rain this last day or two as it has proved I have a leaky roof. Bah!

Has anyone else tried to plan their pregnancies so they don't have to be at the end of it at the height of summer? Because I have..

Hate the rain but agree with all you have said.
It's so annoying this humid weather we have had for so long. Feels nice to finally be in Autumn mode. My favourite season.

I absolutely love autumn. Dark mornings are vastly preferable to being woken up at 4am by all the flipping birds.

Summer is lovely in anticipation, but it's generally very disappointing.

There is no pressure on autumn and winter to give good weather - and a sunny day is just a bonus. We sleep with a bedroom window wide open all year round. I love a cold bedroom.

I also vastly prefer winter clothes. Give me boots and gorgeous coats any day.

Plus - lighting the woodburner and candles. Heaven.

warm and sunnyish when I went out late afternoon - got drenched walking home just now - I'm kind of "I wish it'd make it's mind up" camp.

Added plus of a face mask - stops the rain running down and dripping of your noswGrin

I think it's a pile of shite. I've got rheumatoid arthritis though and cold weather affects my joints. Give me warmer weather any day.

I hate it. I'd happily go into hibernation at the end of September and wake up again at the end of April.

I had the heating on today, I was so chilly.

Added plus of a face mask - stops the rain running down and dripping of your nose

This is a massive disadvantage in cold and wet weather for glasses wearers like me.

Yes @Flev. I get what you mean. I probably quoted the wrong post because yours didn't seem like you were offended by the thread. You were just sharing another view and your story.

I sympathise with everyone with different conditions. I know it can't be easy Flowers

Well I'm not. Got totally soaked just standing at bus stop for 10 mins. Too windy for umbrella. My trainers are wet through so not sure what I am going to hobble to work in tomorrow. Hate it.

September has been pleasantly warm but certainly not hot, more don't need a cardigan. July and August were a wash out. Torrential rain on loads of days and temperatures struggling to get out of the teens. Our camping holiday was ruined when the tent got flooded. We managed one paddling pool day and that was a bit of a stretch. No barbecues at all. We're well overdue a good long hot summer as last year wasn't great either. The kids' sleep always deteriorates in autumn/winter too and DS2's asthma exacerbation is beginning already. Evenings are more trapped indoors with the kids squabbling and in each other's faces due to being unable to get out and burn energy off than cosy and wrapped in blankets with a book. Hate it.

I have a theory that summer lovers = extroverts, and autumn/winter lovers = introverts

Definitely true for me

YANBU I feel alive Autumn/Winter and sometimes early Spring. Late Spring and Summer make me unsettled and irritated at everything.

This is my weather and I love it!

Thank god! Stopped my selfish neighbours from going into their garden at 7am and late evenings having loud conversations with each other. Or going into their shed 30 times a day for god knows what and slamming their kitchen door shut everytime.

Bring on some peace and quiet

@SylvanasWindrunner

I don't much like rain during the day, but in the evenings and overnight I really like hearing it on the windows while I'm warm inside.

I dislike hearing the rain during the night, all I can think about is What windows are open? What have I left outside? DId I close the car windows?

Wow I would like a job in the U.K. where it calms down in colder weather.
Would only need to work about six weeks of the year.Wink
