To be glad it’s cold and wet?

I have been waiting for the whole of September for it to finally feel like autumn! I was getting so fed up of being hot and sweaty- it’s September, I want to be in jumpers and scarves and boots! I feel so cosy when it’s grey and wet outside. Obviously I don’t want it to piss it down all the time, but I don’t mind the odd bit of rain. And I definitely prefer the cold and the dark (great, I’ve made myself sound like some sort of sewer creature).

I love the calmness of autumn & winter. I find summer too intense- not just the heat but the fact that there’s so much going on all the time, it gets too much for me. I work in an industry that changes noticeably with the seasons. There’s less going on in the colder months, less stuff to go wrong, so less stress for me.

I have genuinely noticed how much better a mood I’ve been in the last couple of days since it’s gone cooler.
@TurnUpTurnip I’ve been so angry it’s been hot in September I’ve wanted to complain to the weather manager Grin
Me too, OP. It's just wrong. Loving the chill in the air.

Can’t stand the rain. I don’t mind the cold at all and autumn is my favourite month but the rain is miserable. A bit of drizzle is fine but when it’s belting it down like yesterday, it’s completely miserable. We were all like drowned rats after walking home from school yesterday, it’s a 1.6 mile walk home so not short and we were splashed by cars which was just awful.

YourFinestPantaloons · 29/09/2021 13:34

This is my favourite weather. Not quite bitterly cold, but cool enough to feel toasty warm in a lovely jacket

I’ve found my people.

I love this time of year when Autumn sets in! I'm not a fan of the sun really, much prefer jumper and boots weather. I have my jumper dress and tights on today and feel so cosy. I am worried about the cost of gas this year but trying not to overthink it. I have Raynauds so sometimes extra layers are just not enough and I will have to use the heating.

ohsuzannah · 29/09/2021 15:37

Autumn is the BEST season Smile

TheQueenOfDreams · 29/09/2021 15:38

I hate the cold weather. My house is too messy at the moment to enjoy cosines and snuggliness. But at least I have soup for today and the rest of this week to make my house cosy worthy.

GreyhoundG1rl · 29/09/2021 15:39

It's noticeably colder today. I'm loving it!

WhatATimeToBeAlive · 29/09/2021 15:56

YABVVVVVVU. Roll on May.

LampLighter414 · 29/09/2021 16:01

It's going to be very expensive to be warm and cosy this winter.

I hope, for the sake of many struggling households out there, it is a very mild winter.

I'd rather feel warm in just a T-shirt Grin

I’m 27 weeks pregnant and today was the first day in ages that I haven’t felt too hot. Went out for a lovely long walk and felt completely refreshed and revived instead of coming back a sweaty faint mess. I love autumn and winter and absolutely can’t wait to start my Mat leave in a few weeks - perfect time of year for it!

PartyPotato · 29/09/2021 17:03

@Asthenia how lovely 😊 enjoy mat leave!

I don't like autumn or winter. I hate being cold and I'm always cold as our house is like an icebox and we're not allowed the heating on as it's too expensive. Even worse now prices have gone up.
I wish I did like the colder weather though.

silkience · 29/09/2021 20:06

Bruh

Noogar · 29/09/2021 20:07

I like it with crunchy leaves but hate the cold damp help it's costing a fortune do we have the heating on or not dilemas

Noogar · 29/09/2021 20:08

So if leaves could all go crunchy in summer that would be best thanks

Wrenna · 29/09/2021 20:10

Yes. This is the first week it isn’t 32C here.

Thomasina79 · 29/09/2021 20:51

I love autumn, the colours, the scents, the skies and even the slight sadness that summer is over. The weird thing is that it always seems so short and the winter so long! All the seasons are, theoretically at least, three months, but autumn seems like two months and winter like five!

AwaAnBileYerHeid · 29/09/2021 21:10

Cold yes, rain no! I hate being soaked!

DrCoconut · 29/09/2021 23:28

@DietCokeChipsAndMayo I am definitely an introvert and hate winter. DS2 had an asthma episode today. So, the crap fest that is autumn and winter has officially begun. He is so much healthier and happier in the warm.

Mistressofnone · 03/10/2021 19:01

@Thomasina79 excellent description! Really there is only a couple of weeks of the colours at their peak and the leaves shedding but it's such a beautiful cosy time.

Treaclepie19 · 03/10/2021 19:02

I said this to my friends yesterday. My mood has been getting worse all summer and I finally am starting to feel better now autumn is here.

Duchess379 · 03/10/2021 21:03

I'm laughing because I am the absolute opposite of you. I hate this weather! I hate autumn & winter. If I could, I'd hibernate & join civilisation in April! Bah humbug!!!

MrsSkylerWhite · 03/10/2021 21:04

The calmness of autumn and winter? Try living on the NorthWest coast. Open the door for the cats to go out and they’re blown 5 ft back into the kitchen 🤣
