Pink Floyd are rubbish

I wfh and usually have the radio on. DH has left Absolute Classic Rock on from when he was washing the dishes last night. It has been enjoyable and listened to some good tunes (obviously I am old - well 41).

Heard 2 Pink Floyd songs and my god they are awful. Long, pretentious and boing! Listened to a few on Apple Music and wanted to kill myself - a funeral dirge would be more jolly.

I know they have lots of fans so please tell me IANBU

I was a Smiths fan for many years and I was pretty much hated on. Their lyrics spoke to me I suppose , being an outsider who didn't have much of a social life as a young teen!!

You are being horrendously unreasonable. Pink Floyd were/are the best band in the world, without question. Some of their albums are quite simply nothing short of masterpieces.

I'm getting a series of simplified PF album covers tattooed down my spine soon. That is how much they mean to me. 😂

I'm not a fan of Beyoncé , but the others listed are pretty good. I listen to all kinds of music though and can admire a decent pop classic as much as anything by PF!
Jazz is about the only genre I cannot stand.

I was a depressed, self-harming teen in the 80s but found the Smiths made it worse

Have you listened to the very early stuff? It's weird and child-like but quite 'poppy' in the way the later stuff really isn't.
Also, try The Nile Song. It's nothing like their normal style, almost a heavy metal thrash.

My H and my brother both had Shine on you Crazy Diamond played at their funerals. I love Pink Floyd.

My ex wants that too. Whereas I’m having Grantchester Meadows at mine.

The Floyd are in an integral part of the soundtrack of my youth.

The Smiths, and Morrisey. Another overrated pile of dirge.

I like their early stuff ( I was really young then)

I think it's very much of its time.

It's nothing like much of today's music, so I understand why it may seem a bit odd.

I actually bought dark side of the moon when I was a student in the 90s, it's I understand why people think it's a master piece, but for me listening in the 90s there was something missing.

@FangsForTheMemory not at all - there are lots of artists I don't enjoy (as DH will attest) bit only Pink Floyd make me want to consider throwing the radio out of the window

Poor love, he was in an absolute state for the latter part of his life. It was such a terrible waste.

Their songs are not made for radio, their albums need to be listened to from start to finish
