Sore throat, hacking cough, bit of a cold but not much, feeling wiped out but just not getting any better? I’m up all night coughing and can hardly swallow.

Continually testing negative for Covid via lateral flow and have taken a PCR?

DS has now gone down with it. Tested negative with a lateral flow yesterday but am booking him in for a PCR today.

Me! It is going round my school like wildfire at the minute. Lots of kids off, though for many it is because they need to wait for pcr results to confirm it isn't covid.

megletthesecond · 20/09/2021 11:34

13yr old DD isn't right. Temp, cough and achy. And she threw up this morning.
2 negative PCR's.

mysterybag · 20/09/2021 12:15

I have this too started on Tuesday last week with sore throat and ear ache I thought was tonsillitis and just bone tired. Work from home since then and had to take Friday off as cotton wool had replaced my brain. Spent almost the entire weekend lying down but still shattered. Sore throat and ear ache has gone though.

ghostyslovesheets · 20/09/2021 12:22

Yup - DD1 had it worst - ended up with a chest infection - then both dd3 and myself started the same symptoms - dd3 ended up with a positive PCR - mine negative (dd1 had covid in July) - I feel grim - headache, sore throat, exhausted - no cough - I had Covid in Oct and I am double jabbed - so I doubt it's that anyway but it's wiped me out

Thanks ghosty I did wonder it takes time to brew.
We'll test again tomorrow I expect.

FinallyFluid · 20/09/2021 14:35

@crazycatladyx

Yes! Me and kids have it.

All LFTs and PCRs are negative. I'm amazed it's not covid given how rampant it currently is in their school.

DH is starting to sneeze this morning, no doubt he'll have it worse than anyone Hmm

I managed to speak to doctor from Livi app this morning. He had a good peer down my throat courtesy of my phone camera wasn’t sure if he was taking the piss or not.

Advised rest, I did say I was off work all last week and now I don’t have covid feel like I have to suck it up a bit. He said it’s the only thing that will get rid of it.

Work being a bit pissy. So have sucked it up and gone in but feel crap! Ds asleep again all day heading off now to see him.

Yep me. I'm on week 3 of it. Thought it was tonsillitis so got antibios. Then moved to nose/sneezing, then cough, then chest, then has stayed resolutely in my sinuses. I had a god awful fever too.

3 weeks on I feel better but still so bunged up and have to dredge up a load of mucus shite every morning which makes me feel sick.

DP is pregnant so the sounds of me doing that aren't helping her morning sickness...

bagginses · 20/09/2021 17:45

Going through our house too- the joy.

Theluggage15 · 20/09/2021 17:57

My daughter had that (early twenties), tonsillitis followed by horrible cough then finished off with laryngitis!

Are you using a nasal irrigation thing?
leavesthataregreen · 20/09/2021 18:03

DH had it. Hacking cough that went on for six weeks. He was exhausted. I was sure it was Covid but all the tests he did were negative.

Mydogisagentleman · 20/09/2021 18:07

Got the sore throat, chills and sneezing but no cough to speak of.

soupmaker · 20/09/2021 18:09

Yes. Kids had slight sniffle. I got it with bells on. 2 PCR tests and daily lateral flow tests for 2 weeks. All negative. On the mend but had banging head, sore throat, runny nose and blocked up sinuses and generally felt exhausted. Then the bloody cough started. Bloody kids.

Silkiescatz · 20/09/2021 18:29

On holiday 2nd sept DH starts vomitting then having a cold, sleeping 20 hours a day or at least in bed unwell that long, later a cough filling mouth with mucous. He does pcr on 9th after initially saying he cant have covid but I order him a pcr. Comes back negative, 3 weeks in no improevement.

11 days later when I have not been out as suspect his is covid, DD 15 and I come down with very similar symptoms minus sleeping. I stay home and can only be ill from contact with DD or DH, DD goes off sick, she has vomitting, scratchy throat, cold, mouth filling with mucous from cough, feeling awful, I have similar but upset stomach rather than vomitting, terrible cold, cannot breathe through nose or mouth at times and breathless, cough with lots of mucous, cant taste, cant smell. Dd says she is returning to school, all her lateral flows are negative but 2 of her friends who shared a drink with her on sunday are positive and a third is ill, two got ill after her, one same time. So I say she must do pcr, comes back positive. I have just done pcr awaiting results but would be staggered if its negative. DH is now convinced his was a false negative and also muttering about how I obviously have covid as I have better covid symptoms than him and how DD has a positive but how his illness means nothing to the NHS.

Dd says there is another variant of covid tests arent picking up yet though I think dh also made himself sick during his pcr tests and that may have affected result or maybe took too late. Its difficult to find another viable explanation other than his results were wrong with the timeline. Unless mine isnt covid but I have every symptom of it.

Minfilia · 20/09/2021 18:33

Yup. DD and DS have had it for a week. Other two DS have started coughing today and fevery too so they’re next.

Negative LFT and PCR so not Covid but it’s bad. To put into context, DD is in sixth form and has never had a day off school and she was off for two days last week.

fishonabicycle · 20/09/2021 18:38

Husband started it last week. Still coughing and sore bunged up head today.

Gufo · 20/09/2021 18:38

DS had exactly this.

Vgbeat · 20/09/2021 23:22

I've been awful with this for the last week or so. Started last Sat with chills and sore throat. Slowly got worse over the week, slightly snotty but awful chest and cough between annoying tickly cough and proper hacking cough. So bad I'd pulled every muscle in my chest and back. Lost my voice, throat like razor blades.

Alfiemoon1 · 21/09/2021 08:46

I’ve ended up calling in sick for work which is not like me as working from home but hardly any voice. Ds has a slight sniffle headache sore throat but feels ok but has been sent home from college as covid symptoms so despite negative lft we have ordered pcr tests dd who is away for university messaged me last night she feels the same.

Alfiemoon1 · 21/09/2021 08:52

Dh who has worked outside the home throughout the pandemic seems fine we will definitely know about it if he gets it he takes to his bed only to surface to put on a weak pathetic voice asking for a lemsip.

Seeline · 21/09/2021 09:09

DS is at uni and had it 2 weeks ago - just getting over the cough now. HE had covid last year and wasn't nearly as ill. Now double jabbed and had several negative LFTs.

DD has been struggling through last week with headache and sore throat, and very mild temp (she normally has a high temp when she is ill). Struck her down badly over the weekend though with cough and then heavy cold symptoms yesterday. Then a UTI as well. Negative PCR on Saturday. It's running rife through her 6th form.

Samafe · 21/09/2021 09:15

I had it few weeks ago, I was completely KO. Syntoms were covid spot on, i even lost my smell and taste....doctor also convinced it was covid, but I did 2 PCRs, both negative. I had to take 1 week off work, but it took me I would say 3 weeks to go back to a decent level energy.

Honestly I still think it was covid, maybe a variant, or maybe not enough titer due to the vaccine, not sure.....

CannaeRemember · 21/09/2021 09:17

Yup. Was coughing and energyless for about 8 weeks. Negative PCR but the doc sent me for a chest x-ray. It's been pretty rubbish - I usually shake off coughs/colds really easily.
