To ask does anyone else have this other bloody virus?

Sore throat, hacking cough, bit of a cold but not much, feeling wiped out but just not getting any better? I’m up all night coughing and can hardly swallow.

Continually testing negative for Covid via lateral flow and have taken a PCR?

DS has now gone down with it. Tested negative with a lateral flow yesterday but am booking him in for a PCR today.

I started with bad body aches especially in my hips on Thursday - sore throat Friday which has progressively become worse. It’s almost unbearable now. Then the cough started on Saturday. It makes my eyes water how much it hurts my throat.

I’ve had tonsillitis many times (tonsils removed as an adult) but I’ve never had a sore throat this painful. I’m climbing the walls with the pain and pain relief takes edge off for an hour at most.

Just to add- Covonia seems to help more than other medicine, teamed with ibuprofen. Woke up some days thinking I feel better and then back to feeling like utter shite

Yep have had it since Tuesday. Headache, cough, bloodshot eyes. Really don't want to take more time off work only just got back in after the summer! But so weak.

Get it every winter, for three months. Presume it’s bronchitis though…. Not looking forward to this years cough session

I have similar, throat has been really hurting for 2 weeks now. Coughing & sneezing everywhere. Feel like my head is full of cotton wool. Wooshing noise in my ears. No energy at all. Urgh. At least the bunged up nose has gone and I can breathe.

Yup DP and DD both been wiped out for a week

Yes. Teen brought it in, she’s had 3 days off and negative PCR, then I started on Friday - negative PCR too but I feel awful. Headache, throat, stuffed up nose, feeling feverish and too hot. Would have almost rather just had Covid tbh.

Well DS has had a negative result come in. Still really unwell this morning so can’t go to college only second week in!

I was up three times in the night still coughing and my throat feeling like I can barely swallow but have to go to work. I’ve already had a week off and I know because I’ve tested negative over and over it is being ‘frowned upon’.
Oh what fun!

I found that the Lemsip Day and Night worked best. I had a great sleep when I took the night!

I wonder if this is what my dd has, a cough and cold that won't seem to shift.

My pcr came back negative this morning, thankfully.
I have looked at my FB memories last few days and it does seem I get the same kind of thing every year at the same time.

My DD , it is awful and she is far more unwell than when she had covid.

Yeah my toddler DS’s have a hacking chesty cough that’s keeping them up through the night. Not sure what it is, isn’t covid though at least. No temperature or anything, mostly just bothered by the horrible cough.

Yup, whole family had it and it took weeks to clear it. Was incredibly rough on all of us!

I didn't know it was a thing! Been in bed for 3 days and I was convinced it was covid (work in a school, thought it was bound to happen at some point), but I got negative PCR result this morning.

Throat like glass, cough, hot and cold, shivers, can't sleep, sneezing/snotty, also a rash. Feel wiped and it's hard to catch my breath.

My pcr came back negative this morning too thankfully. Hope everyone feels better soon

Anyone else convinced themselves they have a test avoiding strain of covid?

It's a bad cold but by no means the worst I've had and I've tested enough but I can't shake the fear that it's covid!
I've used a full kitchen roll in two days not a cheapo either, big brand, I must be sweating Lucozade now.

If I'd just tested the kids I'd have assumed I hadn't don't it properly, but me and DH have done PCR's too.

DS2's cough has turned chesty now when it was more choking on snot before. Whatever it is, it seems to go though little lulls where you think it's getting better before coming back with a vengeance

Lack of social contact means we have had less regular exposure to the many mild rhinoviruses, adenoviruses, coronaviruses etc out there so yep, we will probably feel hard hit by ordinary colds and flu this year.

All our pcrs came back negative this morning. Myself and ds1 are getting rapidly better (so def not COVID as we are the two in the family who suffer worst with that) and ds2 and dh are still feeling rough. Ds2 spent the whole of yesterday I'll in bed which he hadnt done since he was 4!

Just heard from a friend that she and her kids now down w similar so it must be doing the rounds.

Several chesty coughs in the supermarket yesterday.

Bound to happen I suppose, as we all mix more, like when little ones start school. All of the usual things are still in circulation but lots of people have been insulated from them the past months.

Son tested positive on lateral flow on 10th after feeling dizzy and sore throat . Pcr confirmed positive. I developed the same symptoms after few days but all my pcr's since have been negative. Worst sore throat ever like swallowing broken glass then lemon juice . Ive not had day off in over 5 years but this has floored me . Convinced it must be covid as my son was positive and my symptoms exactly the same but seems not. Doctor says upper respiratory infection and prescribed antibiotics ( over phone ). Sympathies to anyone else suffering from it as its miserable

I've had a leaking nose for 5 days with a mild temperature, slight sore throat and horrible headache due to pressure on sinuses. I've had 4 negative PCR tests so far.

Yep me and dh and 2 poorly dds the cough is the worst! Hoping we will all be better in a few days although youngest dd caught it first and no sign of her getting back to normal just yet!
