So where are all the middle class parents buying their drugs these days?

Best friend of twenty years had a 'cheeky joint' last night. Sister in law regularly takes coke in social situations. Other sister in law is still a raver and takes MDMA on the reg.

Am I living under a rock or something? Where does one procure such things? I'm genuinely curious. And sheltered, obvs.

On the internet. Install a tor browser and there are amazon type pages with reviews for dealers.

@Wauden

The threat from drug trafficking

The number of people in this country whose deaths were caused by drug misuse increased last year. The last official numbers – for 2016 – attributed 2,593 UK deaths to drug misuse. Newer synthetic opioids – such as fentanyl - have contributed to this rise.

Opium production in Afghanistan and cocaine production in Colombia are at record levels. This increase in production has the added effect of a high level of drug purity at street level as the criminals have less need to use cutting agents, and this brings its own dangers. The chemicals necessary for amphetamine production continue to enter the country in volume, while street prices drop, again indicating rising availability.Evidence suggests crack cocaine use- a particular driver of violence -is rising in England and Wales, while demand for all common drug types remain high.

There is significant, and often deadly, competition between rival organised crime groups at all stages of class A drugs production and supply. There is also corruption at every stage of the drug supply chain, including through the use of corrupt port and airport officials.

Organised crime groups involved in drug trafficking are typically also involved in a range of criminal activity, and the profits from illegal drugs are used to fund other forms of criminal operations, including buying illegal firearms and financing terrorism.

Crime associated with drug trafficking is very often violent, with direct links to the criminal use of firearms and gang feud knife attacks, and traffickers frequently exploit young and vulnerable people. Cannabis gangs in particular are notorious for the trafficking and exploitation of Vietnamese children and other vulnerable people to carry out live-in work in dangerous cannabis factories.

County Lines

Urban street gangs play a key – and rising - role in the distribution of class A drugs, particularly heroin and crack cocaine. By their nature,County Linedrug networks tend to operate across police and local authority boundaries, although not exclusively.

County Lines are not defined by the distance between the point of control and the point of distribution, but rather the mechanism by which that method of supply is supported; namely the use of a mobile telephone line and the use of vulnerable adults and children to facilitate the distribution. Importing areas are reporting increased levels of violence and weapons-related crimes as a result of this trend.

I know that but this is about middle class people.

MistyFrequencies · 11/09/2021 14:43

Basically word of mouth. You know people who do it so you can get it. Dealers around here do e-bike delivery, off setting their carbon emissions from all the importing/rainforest destruction etc I guess.

Boombadoom · 11/09/2021 14:45

I’m told, tinder.

kwiksavenofrillsusername · 11/09/2021 14:45

@Theluggage15

I loathe the middle class twats using coke etc. No concern for the misery in the supply line, no concern that many of the stabbings are related to drug supply. Other people’s children don’t matter of course. Probably bore on about organic food and climate change and think they’re caring.
I used to have a housemate who was a massive Coke head but would kick off if we bought coffee that wasn’t fair trade.

Although I don’t think it’s just the middle class. I have known people of all social classes to use it.

Rosehip10 · 11/09/2021 14:45

@Plumtree391 Yes, but the sort of "cool" people on MN who shit on about their casual coke habit and it "not harming anyone" are the same parents posting hand-wringing type stuff about stuff which may harm or affect the life chances of their child: - "rough" schools, covid jabs etc etc

ZoeCM · 11/09/2021 14:47

They tend to be the sort of white people who virtue-signal on social media about racism and pretend to be disgusted by child sexual abuse. In reality, they couldn't give a flying fuck.

@MinesAMassiveSalad

Ime well educated professionals know their own field. The rest is moot.
Thank you. I'm always amused at people talking about people being "Well-educated" as a means of saying they're smart or knowledgeable about many things, when their education is only based on the specific course of study or field. Unless they've been educated on everything, no one is "well-educated" in the general sense. There will always be many things one doesn't know, even as a 'professional' who's well-educated in their professional field.
Foxglovesandlilacs86 · 11/09/2021 14:51

It’s one of those things, until you do it you don’t realise how many normal people sell it and also take it. I got to 30 before I ever touched drugs but once I did I realised nearly half of the nice middle class types at my children’s school in a market town in the south east not only did cocaine on a regular basis but 5 or 6 of them were also dealers!

It’s everywhere, but if you’ve never taken it then you just dont see it.

VeryLongBeeeeep · 11/09/2021 14:51

It's not hard, and I don't believe any of you don't know where to get it either.

I have a small circle of friends, even smaller circle of ageing WC relatives, no teens/young people in the family and so far as I know none of the former use drugs, so I genuinely wouldn't have a clue where to start.

ViciousJackdaw · 11/09/2021 14:52

It's far more effective to look at the type of chronic pain issues and look for something that doesn't include stinking of skunk (clue's in the name, by the way)

Yes, edibles would be a good start. Perhaps oil too? I wish my rheumatologist was this progressive, the tramadol and codeine he currently gives me seems a little dangerous...

HereForThis · 11/09/2021 14:53

@rhonddacynontaf

'The internet' like how tho. Cos I'm on the internet all day. God I am only just realising what a square I am.
That last sentence makes me want to give you the Hmm (more of a side eye than a hmm).

You can choose not to be square then if that's how you see not taking drugs or knowing where to procure such shit.Hmm

ThatSunnyCorner · 11/09/2021 14:54

@HurryUpAndWait23

I would just ask the relevant people.

It's not hard, and I don't believe any of you don't know where to get it either.

If you know someone who smokes it or snorts it, you just ask them. That's how they would have found it.
Who needs whatsapp or Snapchat?

I'm pleased to say I've no idea where to buy drugs. I really don't care whether you believe me or not.
bullyingadvice2017 · 11/09/2021 14:55

Same places and people that I bought off at 15.
Went to a real rave a couple of weeks ago in our town.
A couple of the older ravers could not come as their older teen kids announced they had tickets. Gutted for them.

HonoreDeBallsache · 11/09/2021 14:58

I wouldn't have the faintest idea how to go about buying drugs either, OP. I have never been interested in them. I suppose I would ask one of my (university) children if they knew of anyone, if I wanted to buy something.

HereForThis · 11/09/2021 14:58

It's not hard, and I don't believe any of you don't know where to get it either.

You must've lived a very sheltered life or are a square too. To think everyone openly knows people who do drugs (you may not realise they do. It's not the same as knowing they do and them openly doing it around you) or those who sell them means you've lived a life surrounded only by those who do. Try to widen your horizon a bit.

[See, it can be switched].

This is what my doctor pushes on me too, can't take it when the kids are around, which is always, because it zonks me out. Obvs can't take actual illegal drugs when they're around either. Grin

Friends 🤷🏻‍♀️Friends of friends…Dp gets his weed from one guy at work or one ex colleague or his old photographer pal (could easily get coke from him too) none of them are dealers as such, there’s always someone
I’ve done everything going, but not for years and years as I’m now a 43 year old mum and don’t even drink anymore

user7012893145776 · 11/09/2021 15:11

Snapchat.

rhonddacynontaf · 11/09/2021 15:11

I don't drink, smoke, take drugs, I don't even drink caffeine as it messes with my IBD.

I smoked in my teens and through uni, I struggled with confidence (and undiagnosed autism) and it really helped me make friends - I know how that sounds but it did!

toomuchlaundry · 11/09/2021 15:14

I wouldn't have a clue either. Never touched drugs, haven't even smoked a cigarette.

Remember when I was a student I was in London for the day with a group of mates. Some random came up to me and mumbled something. I politely asked if he could repeat what he said, my mate dragged me away saying he was trying to sell me drugs! I guess that is the closet I have got to a drug dealer.

maxbabi · 11/09/2021 15:24

@rhonddacynontaf

I am curious to try weed. I feel it could potentially help me with some chronic pain issues. But I don't think I would dare unless it was legal. And yes I've tried CBD. It's crap.
Yes do try it is amazing for pain. Cbd oil did nothing for me (apart from.anxiety). I was bone on bone on my hip and awaiting replacement over lockdown I had some and for the first time in years could walk pain free I was on highest strength co codimol which did nothing to help. I did get the munchies and need a nap but boy it was fantastic. Its a natural herb. BTW ppl I know use phone orvtxt dealers....
MurielSpriggs · 11/09/2021 15:25

Darknet marketplaces are popular for drugs (using TOR). You can also buy them through Telegram, which is a bit like Whatsapp, but encrypted, anonymous, and has a market of its own.

It's quite complicated requiring various types of high-level encryption software, subterfuge and cryptocurrencies.
