So where are all the middle class parents buying their drugs these days?

Best friend of twenty years had a 'cheeky joint' last night. Sister in law regularly takes coke in social situations. Other sister in law is still a raver and takes MDMA on the reg.

Am I living under a rock or something? Where does one procure such things? I'm genuinely curious. And sheltered, obvs.

Haven't done any in years and years but could get hold of most things within an hour if I wanted to. Word of mouth, ask someone you know who does it, they'll put you on to their dealer then it's a phone call or Whatsapp..

Yes I smacked weed as a teenager. Took coke socially until my 40s .

Just knew people to get it from. Not dealers but friends who knew dealers who would just get some extra when asked. If I wanted dope now a days I would either ask my kids or friends who still use it. But I'm not interested these days - would rather have a cup of tea or a Gin and tonic.

Work in law enforcement and strongly believe all drugs should be legalised . It's the only way to remove the criminal element and the phenomenal amount of money spent on law enforcement.
At no point has anyone wishing to take drugs given a moments thought to its legality. Prohibition doesn't work.

SalsaLove · 11/09/2021 14:27

I don’t have a dealer, I have a next door neighbour who smokes it with his window open and it drifts right into my bedroom.

JudgeJ · 11/09/2021 14:27

I remember what weed smells like from uni. Once we were walking through Cambridge and I told my mum that's what the smell was and she said 'oooh I have always wondered what that smell was!'

Many, many years ago I recall sitting in a school staff meeting and one of the 'old biddies', (probably 30 years younger than me now!) commented that Mr H's tobacco smelled quite pleasant, much nicer than the usual cigarettes! There was a lot of choking going on and not caused by cigarette smoke either!

Amandasummers · 11/09/2021 14:29

I know loads of people who sell and if I i didn’t, I know people who would know people….it’s never even crossed my mind that people use the internet to be honest!

MorrisZapp · 11/09/2021 14:30

My work colleague buys weed online and leaves reviews like bloody trip advisor.

I'd personally like to buy zopiclone or valiums but I have no idea how. The local news tells us that the streets are awash with the stuff, well I wish I knew which streets and how to go about getting it.

lockdownmadnessdotcom · 11/09/2021 14:31

I've also wondered this too OP. Fortunately I wouldn't have the slightest idea of how to get drugs, although apparently they are quite a serious problem in my "naice" middle class town.

I also wondered how people found "underground" hairdressers during lockdown.

Why not just ask for a prescription?

Safer than buying rat poison/talc/chalk/insert urban myth here.

MayorGoodwaysChicken · 11/09/2021 14:32

A lot of poor kids who are dragged into county lines horrors and all that goes with it. But the scum like your friends and relatives overlook that as long as it’s not their own kids. I honestly couldn’t associates myself with anyone who did this shit, knowing what we do in this day and age about the associated evils.

kwiksavenofrillsusername · 11/09/2021 14:33

Keeping in touch with dodgy old uni mates. Or insta. Even Gumtree used to have ads but I think they got wise to it.

HelloHummingbird · 11/09/2021 14:33

Well I personally get my tea and coffee from Sainsbury's, sometimes the co-op Grin
Haribo from anywhere as that's really addictive shit Halo

I find it really sad how illegal drugs are so prevalent in our society. It can't be that difficult to crack down on the industry...but I think it's such a secret economy boost from the underground/ bottom up it'll never be stomped out Sad

The threat from drug trafficking

The number of people in this country whose deaths were caused by drug misuse increased last year. The last official numbers – for 2016 – attributed 2,593 UK deaths to drug misuse. Newer synthetic opioids – such as fentanyl - have contributed to this rise.

Opium production in Afghanistan and cocaine production in Colombia are at record levels. This increase in production has the added effect of a high level of drug purity at street level as the criminals have less need to use cutting agents, and this brings its own dangers. The chemicals necessary for amphetamine production continue to enter the country in volume, while street prices drop, again indicating rising availability.Evidence suggests crack cocaine use- a particular driver of violence -is rising in England and Wales, while demand for all common drug types remain high.

There is significant, and often deadly, competition between rival organised crime groups at all stages of class A drugs production and supply. There is also corruption at every stage of the drug supply chain, including through the use of corrupt port and airport officials.

Organised crime groups involved in drug trafficking are typically also involved in a range of criminal activity, and the profits from illegal drugs are used to fund other forms of criminal operations, including buying illegal firearms and financing terrorism.

Crime associated with drug trafficking is very often violent, with direct links to the criminal use of firearms and gang feud knife attacks, and traffickers frequently exploit young and vulnerable people. Cannabis gangs in particular are notorious for the trafficking and exploitation of Vietnamese children and other vulnerable people to carry out live-in work in dangerous cannabis factories.

County Lines

Urban street gangs play a key – and rising - role in the distribution of class A drugs, particularly heroin and crack cocaine. By their nature,County Linedrug networks tend to operate across police and local authority boundaries, although not exclusively.

County Lines are not defined by the distance between the point of control and the point of distribution, but rather the mechanism by which that method of supply is supported; namely the use of a mobile telephone line and the use of vulnerable adults and children to facilitate the distribution. Importing areas are reporting increased levels of violence and weapons-related crimes as a result of this trend.

@Wauden

That coke and dope are an integral part of human trafficking, modern day slavery and child abuse.
This.

And drug turf wars. Some kid gets caught up and gets stabbed. This is so very sad.

Angliski · 11/09/2021 14:35

On county lines. Mobiles staffed by teenagers. It’s a huge problem these days in the leafy suburbs. Kids getting involved in drug running.

I loathe the middle class twats using coke etc. No concern for the misery in the supply line, no concern that many of the stabbings are related to drug supply. Other people’s children don’t matter of course. Probably bore on about organic food and climate change and think they’re caring.

Rosehip10 · 11/09/2021 14:38

Middle class drug users are the worst hypocrites, they are inevitably proud of their "liberal" views, drone on about "uncaring tory governments" and are proud of their views on diversity/BLM etc while ignoring the fact that the supply of illegal drugs is responsible for huge amounts of exploitation and injury/death to young (often BAME) men involved in drug dealing.

Plumtree391 · 11/09/2021 14:39

People who deliver pizza and the like often have a sideline in dope.
Better still if you know someone who smokes it fairly regularly.

I've not moved in coke circles so can't say where you can buy that.

FlyingScott · 11/09/2021 14:39

@HurryUpAndWait23
@Wauden’s post explains why this doesn’t even come close to being comparable to buying a bottle of wine in Sainsbury’s

blueshoes · 11/09/2021 14:39

Morally bankrupt would probably be more accurate.

I would agree with this.

Throwntothewolves · 11/09/2021 14:39

Surely it's the same way as when you're young; through a friend of a friend. So you speak to your best mate/SILs if you must.

FWIW I hate drugs, they destroy lives. If you haven't seen that happen to anyone then you're very lucky. Be very careful about what you're getting yourself into. Using weed for pain relief can quickly turn into reliance on it, and then addiction to it. Best just not to start.

It's not just the middle classes who take drugs, the working classes and upper classes do too.
Mintjulia · 11/09/2021 14:40

No idea. Middle aged, middle class and never bought or used drugs in my life. Unless we count alcohol. Or paracetamol.

I'd rather spend the money on a lovely meal Smile
