So where are all the middle class parents buying their drugs these days?

Best friend of twenty years had a 'cheeky joint' last night. Sister in law regularly takes coke in social situations. Other sister in law is still a raver and takes MDMA on the reg.

Am I living under a rock or something? Where does one procure such things? I'm genuinely curious. And sheltered, obvs.

@Porcupineintherough

Oh cocaine is all woke *@2typesofjungle*. It only destroys the lives of brown people from dusty countries a long way away. Hmm
I am sick of this argument. The problem is that governments around the world have made it illegal - that is what causes the suffering, not the fact people use it.

I don't take cocaine btw, just sick of blaming people who simply want a bit of fun for problems caused by a century of stupid drugs policy.

How did prohibtion of alcohol work out?

If you cared about these people (you don't) you would advocate legalisation.

This, the supply chain/county lines argument trotted out on MN stops no one in the real world.

So the same people who will boycott Nestle and Amazon won't take action against drug dealing gangs

Unfortunately not.

Perhaps they grow their own weed. In my opinion it should be legal anyway. No idea about the other stuff but it can't be hard to find a drug dealer. This country is awake with drugs and those that don't realise this have been living very sheltered lives.

forteprocess · 12/09/2021 16:01

awash with drugs that should have said

TheUser420 · 12/09/2021 16:08

Whenever I pop into a hydro shop there are always families having a gander - so for cannabis it appears grow your own (with the tagline "dump the dealer") has taken off in the UK.

longwayoff · 12/09/2021 16:11

Just asked my ageing hippy teacher friend what she does for relaxation. Wine from Sainsbury's. Weekly delivery of weed, grown in Albania, delivered by an Ethiopian.

@rhonddacynontaf

'The internet' like how tho. Cos I'm on the internet all day. God I am only just realising what a square I am.
You could try starting a thread on a chat forum, with a very specific title, and a username that gives your general area. How's that working out for you?
tellittomyhead · 12/09/2021 16:56

From the local drug dealer who I contact via WhatsApp

Plumtree391 · 12/09/2021 17:20

Thanks, SW1amp. I wouldn't have known it, it was well after my time in and around Brixton. It sounds interesting Grin.

MLMbotsno · 12/09/2021 17:21

@ShowOfHands

You're not square op. Not taking illegal drugs and refusing to support an abhorrent and unethical trade is not a character flaw.

It was a running gag in lockdown that it was easier to buy drugs than flour.

VanGoSunflowers · 12/09/2021 17:27

I have some happy memories of smoking weed from when I was a teenager. I’d rather leave it there - just happy memories.

Horst · 12/09/2021 18:14

I live next door to a crack head so I could problem get some coke and a puppy within a hour for £50.

It’s all about knowing someone who even smokes weed or knowing of someone who does.

CorianderAndCream · 12/09/2021 23:37

In my village the local gardener 😂

SirenSays · 12/09/2021 23:47

Around here I get offered sales on my late night dog walks, it's usually taxi drivers or random guys in the street. One of them even gave me a very nice business card, I kept it on my fridge for ages because it made me laugh.

LittleEsme · 13/09/2021 06:17

I think I must also live under a rock. I used to smoke weed at uni and take the occasional dab of speed to keep my weight down but that was procured all through an ex boyfriend.

I wouldn't have a clue how to get that now even though it's crossed my mind (especially the weight loss aspect).

What I can't understand is drug use when groups go abroad. I mean, do people actually smuggle cannabis/some speed on flights? Or
Coke? I remember skiing a few years ago in a fashionable French resort and hearing a group of English lads talking about their coke-addled night out the evening before.

I think it's also the laissez-afire attitude that makes me wonder as well. How is this not attracting the attention of the authorities!?!

HereForThis · 13/09/2021 06:55

@OhWhyNot

I think for most of us we just get older, we have more responsibilities and struggle more with the after effects of using drugs. I also have a different lifestyle

I wouldn’t want ds to see me off my face but I would still like to take e or coke at times

I can lament about the morals around taking drugs but after a glass or two of wine it’s on offer I can bet that simply won’t enter my head or the majority of others who have enjoyed taking drugs what I and I think most would consider more is can I now handle this

Wow!

I'm in my 50s and have a friend who is at the top of her profession, (lectures internationally, salary of £300,000ish). She is such a coke head. I don't think she would have the energy to do all that she does otherwise. It's starting to take its toll on her looks though.

I think cocaine and most other drugs are "zero-sum" (including alcohol). Coke doesn't really give you extra energy it just borrows some energy from tomorrow.

If you can keep them recreational and occasional then fine. Once addiction or a tendency to use them to self-medicate creeps in then you've got a problem (and again beware alcohol!).
