Is identifying as an age really a thing now?

My friend works as a lecturer in a collage. There have been quite a few different identities, but at least two have identified as different age groups - a woman in her 40 identified as a 2 year old and another has 'several' identities, man and woman, ages 2-30.

I'd like to say I'm making it up, but I'm not. And I'm really not sure if it's supposed to be ironic or deadly serious. It must be ironic, right?

@forinborin

but am seriously considering making my work email signature pronoun 'it'. I wonder if they'd comment? I know someone who got into trouble for putting he/his into the signature, while being a very feminine woman, married with children. Well, not a massive trouble as in disciplinary, but was told off for mockery.

Yes, it was done as a statement, but there was literally nothing else - just adding pronouns when the company issued a guidance for everyone to use them in signatures.

And this is what is so annoying - men and young people can identify as they wish however middle aged women are not "allowed" to identify as anything other than middle aged women (just look at ManFriday).

It’s absolutely unhinged, but if you let the fiction that people can change sex become something we all have to pretend is real, then this is sadly the next logical step. It’s mental.
