How often do you and your dc eat McDonald's?

I don't drive and there isn't one within walking distance so for us it's a rare thing on day trips. I'd have one more often as I'm rather partial to a McFlurry or a veggie deluxe meal and dc think it's the height of excitement Grin and think I'm a bit mean that we can't have one as often as their friends. Is it a treat? A regular thing? Just something quick and cheap to grab? No judgement from me, just curious as to what's normal as apparently I'm not normal 😂

Only when the alternative is going hungry. Can't stand the place.

Ellarain · 08/09/2021 14:47

We get kids a takeaway once a month. They usually decide on McDonald's.

TakeMe2Insanity · 08/09/2021 14:48

Only when on the motorway or we’ve been in a situation where there are limited easy food options at that time/place!

GivenUpEntirely · 08/09/2021 14:48

I'm the only person in my household that likes McDonalds. My husband constantly despairs at my love of 'crappy' food!

So I genuinely can't remember the last time I had one, probably with my mam who also likes crappy food and as we've not been anywhere together in the car for nearly 3 years I've been a MaccieD-free zone for quite some time. Now I've taken control of what I eat so less crappy food I'm even less likely to indulge in one because the calorie spend is eye watering!

Parker231 · 08/09/2021 14:49

We sometimes have a breakfast from there at work if someone is passing. I also love the children’s fish finger happy meal - my type of treat!

PicturesOfLily · 08/09/2021 14:49

We tend to go on the way back from somewhere but it probably averages out as once a month. We have 2 close by. Dd loves a happy meal. I like it when eating it but usually feel rubbish after. Dh prefers KFC and would happily eat it several times a week if he could.

Bluesheep8 · 08/09/2021 14:50

Rarely, as a treat. We had one last week and worked out that we hadn't had one for about 3 years.

facelessworrier · 08/09/2021 14:51

Once a week usually Confused

Mainly because it's right outside DS's football school and after his class is peak rush hour so if we try get home then it takes ages but if we spend 45 mins in McD's the traffic has calmed and we're all fed when we get home Smile

Also because I'm lazy and I like it Grin

TheYearOfSmallThings · 08/09/2021 14:51

It depends what the Happy Meal is. When it was Pokemon we went 4 times in a month, but we might not go again until next year.

BritWifeInUSA · 08/09/2021 14:51

Considering McDonalds in the UK state that they handle 3.5 million transactions a day, I’m sure many people go more often than they will admit to.

Onairjunkie · 08/09/2021 14:52

Once or twice a year if we’re going on a long car journey and we’re desperate.

QuestionableMouse · 08/09/2021 14:52

I work for them and it really depends. Some families come in once a week, others more often, others less.

Esspee · 08/09/2021 14:52

It's not a treat because it's crap food but about twice a year when travelling we get a breakfast there and often regret it.

Onairjunkie · 08/09/2021 14:53

I do get the odd coffee though, I quite like their coffee. And I don’t have to get out of the car.

CustardySergeant · 08/09/2021 14:53

I've never had a McDonalds. It's never appealed.

QuestionableMouse · 08/09/2021 14:54

It's not any better or worse than a lot of food. It's just food. Fries are made by McCain, burgers are beef with no fillers, nuggets are just battered chicken.

It gets a bad rap because of the American McDonald's food but the UK one is a lot different.

gingercat02 · 08/09/2021 14:55

Me never cos it's horrible. DS and DH maybe 2-3 times a year but they both prefer Burger King

ApplesAreTheBaneOfMyLife · 08/09/2021 14:56

Last time was pre-Covid.

Haven’t had any reason to visit the nearest city since then, and that’s where McDonald’s is.

Delphigirl · 08/09/2021 14:57

Never

But when my son got a driving licence it is the first place he went Grin

Threearm · 08/09/2021 14:57

Once a week after swimming lessons

ButterflyOfFreedom · 08/09/2021 14:58

Ugh, it's really not decent food so never.
I wouldn't even see it as a treat, it's just not nice! There are far more places I'd rather eat (and the whole family agree).

Bluesheep8 · 08/09/2021 14:58

It's not a treat because it's crap food

It IS a treat for me.

Grapewrath · 08/09/2021 14:58

Once every couple of weeks? The DC love it! I’m not a fan personally but I don’t see it as the devils food.

hangrylady · 08/09/2021 15:03

Once every couple of months, perhaps a bit more during the school holidays.

trumpisagit · 08/09/2021 15:05

We haven't had one in over a year (last summer hols), but DS1 isn't keen (watched some YouTube videos about their food hygiene).
We went much more frequently when kids were younger and they got excited about Happy Meals.
