How often do you and your dc eat McDonald's?

I don't drive and there isn't one within walking distance so for us it's a rare thing on day trips. I'd have one more often as I'm rather partial to a McFlurry or a veggie deluxe meal and dc think it's the height of excitement Grin and think I'm a bit mean that we can't have one as often as their friends. Is it a treat? A regular thing? Just something quick and cheap to grab? No judgement from me, just curious as to what's normal as apparently I'm not normal 😂

Once a week usually after park or
Swim cause Im too lazy to cook

AlbertBridge · 08/09/2021 15:07

Once every couple of months.

It'd be more but our nearest one is miles away and UberEats don't deliver McDonalds to our address. They deliver everything else, but not that. Maybe they've seen me naked and put me on a restricted list? 🤔

Mildmanneredmum · 08/09/2021 15:10

Well, we used to have one every Friday night on the way home until I was diagnosed with really high cholesterol, and the GP asked to test the kids (7 and 10 at the time). They had really high cholesterol too... Change of nutrition, not massively. Small changes. Reduction in MD though.

purplecorkheart · 08/09/2021 15:12

I recently ate in McDonalds on a City break and it was the nearest place to my hotel. Food appeared to be cooked to order but it was fairly bland. Also it took quite a long time to come. I don't think I will be bothering with them again.

Silvercatowner · 08/09/2021 15:13

I'm a MacDonalds virgin. It doesn't appeal.

banoffeee · 08/09/2021 15:14

Once a week

LalalalalalaLand123 · 08/09/2021 15:15

Never - DC dont like the food, and that suits me as I hate the place lol.
We dont really eat out at fast food places at all, cant really afford it.

CFEC · 08/09/2021 15:15

2-3 times a year? Used to be about once a month a couple of years ago as would ask the taxi driver to go through the drive thru at 3am on the way home so I could get a Big Mac to help ease my drunken state (would always buy/ offer to buy taxi driver one too) but yeh, since Covid 18 months ago I've had 2.

underneaththeash · 08/09/2021 15:19

I think we went once last year.

DD likes it, DS1 would eat anything and DS2 isn't keen.
Really not my cup of tea either.

noblegreenk · 08/09/2021 15:20

Roughly once every 1-2 months.

eurochick · 08/09/2021 15:22

Never. I don't object to a moderate amount of junk food but the smell in McDonalds turns my stomach. I wouldn't object to my daughter going without me though. It's crappy food but crappy food is fine occasionally.

Auntycorruption · 08/09/2021 15:23

For a long time we never went. This year probably been 3-4 times. Once for something different to do in lockdown and since then on car journeys. I don't really see it as a treat as it's pretty rank but serves a purpose for feeeding kids on long journeys when nothing else is around!

nc8765 · 08/09/2021 15:25

1-2 a month.

Auntycorruption · 08/09/2021 15:25

This is not a health or "we only eat organic cous cous" decision, more just a food quality / general appeal thing

Local coffee shops, Costa, Caffè Nero, fish & chips, various cafes and pubs feature far more often!

KobaniDaughters · 08/09/2021 15:26

I haven’t had a McD since I was a teenager I think, DS (aged 12) has never had one and up until this Monday DH hadn’t had one in I think well over a decade.

DD (aged 9) has been taken by other parents on play dates though - it’s prob been 3 years or so since she had one but we had a “yes” day on Monday and that’s what she requested for lunch so that’s what she and her dad got

Marmite27 · 08/09/2021 15:27

We try and save it for emergencies too. Probably about every 6 weeks or so? The last few times were after a late dental appointment, after a late hairdressers appointment and after we’d driven home from our camping holiday.

Only the kids get it these days though, it’s handy that they can eat in the car on our way home so more efficient for bedtime than waiting until we get home.

We have one in walking distance, so the post camping one was brought home and entertained them while we emptied the car.

wendz86 · 08/09/2021 15:27

Every two weeks on a friday before their swimming/gymnastic lessons.

SweetPetrichor · 08/09/2021 15:33

Never…not coeliac compatible. As a kid myself, pre-coeliac diagnosis, I had it a few times a year. I never chose it…I was a picky kid and fast food didn’t appeal…but I went occasionally if I was with my friends family for a day out.

minimecantrollerskate · 08/09/2021 15:34

Probably every 2-3 months. Our nearest one is 20 miles away, so we only have it if we go into town for the cinema or opticians appointments

Berkeys · 08/09/2021 15:36

Never been in my life, never would.

Crunchymum · 08/09/2021 15:36

A few times a month, my kids love it and they deliver for 99p (Just Eat),

It's always the kids go to Birthday dinner too, but as we live close to one they like to eat in, but I am trying to expand their horizons, oldest has asked for Prezzo for his upcoming birthday.

Porcupineintherough · 08/09/2021 15:37

Once every year or 3? Its nor something the kids (now teens) have ever clamoured for and as I cant eat there (coeliac) then it's never been much of a thing for us.

Bluesheep8 · 08/09/2021 15:37

it’s prob been 3 years or so since she had one but we had a “yes” day on Monday and that’s what she requested for lunch so that’s what she and her dad got

What's a "yes" day?

TokenGinger · 08/09/2021 15:38

Once a week for my DC. I realise that probably sounds pretty poor but he's been a terrible eater since he was born. He's 2 now and it's still tough to get food into him. He can go the entire day without eating sometimes, so whilst I'm not entirely thrilled at the thought McDonalds regularly, it's a pleasure for me to see him each 6 chicken nuggets once a week. He only has the nuggets, doesn't like fries.

FangsForTheMemory · 08/09/2021 15:38

1984 was my last McDonald's, and even then it was bought for me without me being told beforehand.

I occasionally eat Burger King beanburgers but I don't think I've had one since before COVID.
