How often do you and your dc eat McDonald's?

I don't drive and there isn't one within walking distance so for us it's a rare thing on day trips. I'd have one more often as I'm rather partial to a McFlurry or a veggie deluxe meal and dc think it's the height of excitement Grin and think I'm a bit mean that we can't have one as often as their friends. Is it a treat? A regular thing? Just something quick and cheap to grab? No judgement from me, just curious as to what's normal as apparently I'm not normal 😂

I'd happily eat one every week I love Maccys. In reality about once every 6 weeks or so

TheMilkisoff · 08/09/2021 13:56

Never. My kids wouldn't go and neither would I. Terrible place.

TornadoTrinity · 08/09/2021 13:56

DCs maybe once every 6 weeks or so. I hate it, so don't eat it. Even the McFlurrys seem to coat my mouth with oil Envy (not envy).

I'm not a health freak at all and I love my food, but McDonald's is boak imo.

RumblyMumbly · 08/09/2021 13:58

Couple of times a year, maybe during a longer journey as DH and DC look for the arches at the services! I prefer other fast food if we go out for a meal like Wagamamas. We don't have a McD's in our local town though so would require someone to drive DC otherwise I am sure they would go more / meet friends there.

Ticksallboxes · 08/09/2021 13:59

About three times a year, usually for convenience if we're late and on-route.

I really don't like them though.

DrunkenKoala · 08/09/2021 13:59

We try to limit them to school holidays, especially if we’ve been out for the day or on a long road trip. It probably averages out 1 every 3-4 weeks but sometimes we’ll have 2 a week and then none for ages after.

Yerra · 08/09/2021 14:00

nearest is an hours drive. Kids never interested in it thou - they would prefer a dinner place or a local type chipper. I love the caramel sundae but not been in at least 2 yrs.

BatShitBitchChops · 08/09/2021 14:00

DS1 works there, so he eats a lot of it when not at college, otherwise twice a week for him on shift. I don't eat it that much, and Ds2 and DD prefer KFC when we do have anything like that.

KidsAreMean · 08/09/2021 14:00

We've been twice in the past 12 years. DD only once.

RumblyMumbly · 08/09/2021 14:00

My MIL took my kids when they were little as she thought I wouldn't take them. She must think they led such deprived lives that it was her place to 'improve'. Annoying.

Wiredforsound · 08/09/2021 14:03

When we are going on a long trip. Motorway McDonalds is the best McDonalds (3-4 times a year).

Chicchicchicchiclana · 08/09/2021 14:06

Me: never. I will have go to Burger King but probably haven't been for 5+ years, maybe more.

Teen son goes rarely. We live in London so have plenty of nicer choices for junk food tbh!

Teen dd got an upset stomach from McDonalds, she's only ever been 2 or 3 times maybe.

Starlight39 · 08/09/2021 14:07

Not often, maybe once a year - there aren't any very close by. We sometimes have a McFlurry as a treat but ds isn't that bothered by the main food. We were going to go to one on the way down to our holiday this summer but it was a bit busy and he was happy to get a sandwich from the service station instead! He does love KFC though (only had one twice as they are even further away!).

Singlebutmarried · 08/09/2021 14:07

Every couple of weeks maybe? Depends really if there’s a lot of running around and where we are.

I got stung for DD and two of her friends the other day - they all eat adult meals now too Confused

Zeewest · 08/09/2021 14:08

Coffee nearly everyday. Breakfast once a month. Never buy burgers etc from them prefer 5 Guys

FAQs · 08/09/2021 14:08

This is MN you’ll probably get more people say it’s the food of the devil.

Us it varies, probably equals out to once a month when I’m running late back from work. I do like their coffee and will do a drive by coffee a lot when on the road.

TartanJumper · 08/09/2021 14:09

I don't really like it, so not that often only as an emergency (if out and not eaten and just want some chips and a burger).
KFC, I could eat daily.

evilharpy · 08/09/2021 14:09

Almost never, just not a fan. Much prefer KFC but we don't live anywhere near one so probably only have that maybe twice a year.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 08/09/2021 14:09

Food... very rarely. Especially now DDs need adult meals, it isn't cheap for what it is.

McFlurries... not since we've moved and have a good alternative option and no McDonald's convenient.

They did have a KFC at the weekend though, while DH &I had Indian takeaway (which they don't like except naan and poppadoms).

I don't see them as deprived.

CanIPleaseHaveOne · 08/09/2021 14:09

@MasterBeth

I get a coffee in McDonalds about once a year. I last had food from McDonalds about a five years ago which reminded me why I had not eaten there for about another five years. I find the food limp, damp and uninteresting. Soggy bread, floppy fries, not much flavour. I don’t get it.

I don’t mind getting stuff for my kids there more regularly than that! But a few times a year rather than a few times a month.

Me too. About fours years ago. Still have not digested it!
Justgorgeous · 08/09/2021 14:09

Twice this year. I hate the place.

theneverendinglaundry · 08/09/2021 14:10

Once every month I'd say. But their vegetarian/vegan options are dire.

Figgygal · 08/09/2021 14:10

Couple times a year maybe to eat proper food
Occasional mcflurrys in the summer
Adults and even the 9 year old don’t like it
5yo indifferent

Mynameismargot · 08/09/2021 14:10

Maybe once every year or 2. Not because I think it is the food of the devil just because there isn't one local so it's not really on our radar.

Bontanics · 08/09/2021 14:11

I think the last time was when I went down to London for a gig before the lockdown. Can't remember the time before that. I'd guess the nearest one to me is about an hour away.
