How often do you and your dc eat McDonald's?

I don't drive and there isn't one within walking distance so for us it's a rare thing on day trips. I'd have one more often as I'm rather partial to a McFlurry or a veggie deluxe meal and dc think it's the height of excitement Grin and think I'm a bit mean that we can't have one as often as their friends. Is it a treat? A regular thing? Just something quick and cheap to grab? No judgement from me, just curious as to what's normal as apparently I'm not normal 😂

When I lived alone it was about 1-2 a week and 1-2 Chinese or kfc.

Once I even went to Mc Ds for fries and milkshake then drove to kfc for the burger Blush then I ended up quite ill years later- I wonder why?! Hmm

Before dc it was probably 2-3 times a month. Since dc learnt what this place is it's probably monthly now unless I manage to sneak one in when I'm alone.

Thatsplentyjack · 08/09/2021 21:47

OP this is mn, people here don't eat McDonald's, and if they do its once every 10 years, and only in an absolute emergency!
Meanwhile in the real world every McDonald's I pass is queued put the door 🤣

Lostmarbles2021 · 08/09/2021 21:53

Twice in 9 years. Can’t bear it. Yuk.

FlatteredFool · 08/09/2021 21:56

Sometimes you just gotta have fries.

McDonald's fills me with anxiety. It's the whole queuing for food thing. The complications due to 4 veggies all adding or taking away various things from a happy meal or Big Mac or whatever. Praise be for the touch screen thingies. My dc were so happy to show me the delights of these so there's no more confusion at the til. It makes it bearable for me. Dc go with their dad twice a week at least so they are well practiced at the touch screen way of ordering.

That’s hilarious as a cross post. I’m obviously a typical MNetter. Eek.

I had it for the first time since being a teenager and fully expected to start wanting to eat it more but it tasted horrible to me. Quite glad really coz there are already enough unhealthy foods I struggle to avoid.

I love a McDonald's. My kid is veggie so subway is his fast food first choice but by heck I can demolish a quarter pounder with cheese

whiterheg · 08/09/2021 22:22

But also, inspired by a scene from You, I occasionally just enjoy a strawberry milkshake and heavily salted fries

whiterheg · 08/09/2021 22:23

Since entering menopause thought I can't metabolise the chicken nuggets. Or fish from the chippy

DD is veggie, but love MacDonalds chips, cheese bites and veggie burger.
ShepherdessBoink · 08/09/2021 22:25

Once a week. I get fed up of cooking and it's cheap and cheerful and convenient. I prefer KFC, but kids always choose McD.

I don't think it's bad, entire family is underweight.

JustLyra · 08/09/2021 22:33

Every other week. The one club my youngest can go to (she has multiple disabilities) is on at a really awkward time and means my other two primary schoolers hanging around for an hour as typically it's the one night MIL goes out and DH works late.

So we go, drop her off, and head for either Maccy's or Burger King depending on whose turn it is to pick.

The kids love it. They love the food, they love the chance to relax and I love not having to sort dinner that night.

whiterheg · 08/09/2021 22:37

@RampantIvy yes mine does like the veggie wrap if on offer and will happily walk a mile from the local pub for 3x portion of chips at midnight Grin

You can order via the app now too. The store knows when you are close and prepared the order. We discovered you can add things like lettuce and cucumber to the kids cheese burgers which made dd2's day
londonrach · 09/09/2021 07:07

Maybe once in the holiday s... probably no more than five trips in a year. Toys are rubbish now

I believe you can put your order through on their app nowadays, avoiding the queue and the touchscreens!
ShutUpaYourFace · 09/09/2021 07:30

It is rare for us as we all prefer KFC.
We went to McDonald's in the holidays a few weeks back ordered kid's chicken nugget Happy Meal opened box to find 2 x portion of chips No nuggets. Rubbish. Kids call it McRubbish now, we won't be going back.

ColettesEarrings · 09/09/2021 07:49

McDonald's? Once every 3-4 years. But Pizza Express or Pizza Hut every 3-4 months, fish & chips the same, Thai/Chinese similar. So we have take away every month probably, it's just that McDs isn't our thing.

Parker231 · 09/09/2021 08:02

This thread is making me hungry - really want a McD’s hot apple pie - delicious!

As McDonald’s is one of the busiest fast food organisations each daily, the majority must not be Mn readers!

Snoken · 09/09/2021 08:44

Once every two years or so for me, I don't like their veggie range and don't eat meat. DC (late teens) probably more like 2-3 times a month when out with friends.

3GreenPullups · 09/09/2021 08:47

every couple of weeks.

Love the Big Mac and the Big tasty

3GreenPullups · 09/09/2021 08:54

I like McDonalds. It's clean and reliable IMO and also I consider the quality to be pretty good for what it is.

The DCs love the chicken selects.

Champagneforeveryone · 09/09/2021 09:26

Once a week or so at the moment I reckon. DS is learning to drive and it's yet another destination we can drive to for practice Wink

Prior to that, literally only when we are on the motorway.

Hemingwaycat · 09/09/2021 09:40

Once every other month or so? It’s never a set thing, we’ll just sometimes decide to have one if we’re driving past at lunchtime.

lastqueenofscotland · 09/09/2021 09:44

A few times a year? And always just hash browns

sqirrelfriends · 09/09/2021 09:47

On motorway services only and not every time. We have been about three times this year so far which is a lot for us.
