How often do you and your dc eat McDonald's?

I don't drive and there isn't one within walking distance so for us it's a rare thing on day trips. I'd have one more often as I'm rather partial to a McFlurry or a veggie deluxe meal and dc think it's the height of excitement Grin and think I'm a bit mean that we can't have one as often as their friends. Is it a treat? A regular thing? Just something quick and cheap to grab? No judgement from me, just curious as to what's normal as apparently I'm not normal 😂

Maybe 3 or 4 times a year?

DeepaBeesKit · 08/09/2021 20:19

My children are 2 & 4 and I've never taken them there! The nearest one is a motorway service station, not especially convenient, and I dont really tend give them really junky stuff often . If we were getting some quick convenience food it would probably be the local fish & chippy.

NatalieH2220 · 08/09/2021 20:19

Maybe once or twice a month for me and DH. Once every other month if that for DS. Although I do go a lot more often when monopoly is on.... 😳😳

MintyGreenDream · 08/09/2021 20:20

I'm low carbing and now I desperately want a Double Quarter pounder with cheese and large fries 😋😭

Planty13 · 08/09/2021 20:21

About 3 times a month as a family. Usually on the way back from an exhausting day or if I am just tired Grin

pontiouspilates · 08/09/2021 20:24

Once or twice a year perhaps when at the airport or at a motorway service station. Invariably regret it.

CatsArePeople · 08/09/2021 20:27

Every couple of weeks? Breakfast mainly. I used to be very much against it and judgemental, but then DS2 turned out to be a massive fusspot. McD is one of very frw things he agreed to eat without a meltdown.

TinselTime21 · 08/09/2021 20:27

I have 3 within a mile of me.

Lately the ds have had maybe once a week /2 weeks. Purely out of my sheer laziness And not cooking in a Saturday night. So if we have Indian or Chinese they have mac d. If we have pizza or chippy. They have same as us.

lljkk · 08/09/2021 20:28

Maybe once every 4 yrs. Or 6? Or 3? "Seldom" ?. W
hen we're stuck with nothing better.
Nearest is 17 miles away.
Lots of chippies closer.
We don't eat out a lot, anyway, so would be take-away.
McDs is nothing special.
DC quite like proper chips, not so much fries.

ablutiions · 08/09/2021 20:32

Never. Last time I had it I sweated a rainbow of chemicals for a week and was very constipated. Never again. Foul stuff pretending to be food.

But you know, other people seem to like it. 🤷

thinkbiglittleone · 08/09/2021 20:35

I think my DS has had it twice, he's 4.
We eat it maybe once or twice a year.

TangledNemo · 08/09/2021 20:49

I live and work within minutes of a McDonald’s, so I went once a week while I was working.

I’ve only been maybe once or twice a month since going on maternity leave in June though.

serialname · 08/09/2021 20:52

Once a week. No shame in saying it's an easy meal, that doesn't cost lots and is ALWAYS exactly as expected.

We do eat out in other places but only when I can face paying for uneaten food because "the tomato sauce is too tomatoey", or the "fish is too fishy" or the "cheese is wrong" or "the chips are too fat" or "they've put stuff in the rice".

This is from a child who will eat smoked mackerels, duck, stir fry, curry etc when it is home cooked but can't cope with the uncertainty about what will arrive when eating out.

liveforsummer · 08/09/2021 21:10

If not once a week then 3 times a month during term time. Dc have share ponies that we are with until sometimes 8pm on a weeknight so it's a time saving meal that is acquired quickly and eaten in the car so once home can get ready for bed straight away. I hope the activity off sets the crap food 😆

DGFB · 08/09/2021 21:12

A few times a year

MissyMooKins · 08/09/2021 21:22

we don't have it as often as pizza hut, dominos, chinese, kfc and Indian as McDonalds don't deliver to my house but we still prob have it monthly

likeacandleinthewind · 08/09/2021 21:24

I thought it was expensive serialname. Two standard meals cost £11 the other day.

Whereas two small haddock and chips and two cans of drink is only £9 from my local fish and chip shop, award winning place, cooked to order.

GreenTortoise · 08/09/2021 21:24

Once a week. It's his little treat on a Saturday.

FirewomanSam · 08/09/2021 21:28

Far less than I used to, because I quit drinking a few year ago and I used to be very partial to a late night McDonald’s on the way home from after-work drinks. Still love it though. Now I maybe get a sausage and egg McMuffin for breakfast once every few months, and some nuggets every few months or so.

Now I’m hungry!

Rosebel · 08/09/2021 21:29

We used to go quite often, probably once a fortnight but think it's bloody expensive for what it is. So we cut down and usually go once every 2 months now. Having said that we did have it for tea tonight.

emmylousings · 08/09/2021 21:31

For me and DS, every few months. I always find the idea much better than reality. My son works at maccies, they take £1,500 ish per hour at his place. Plenty of it being eaten. It's not good. Working there has put him off eating it and he discourages others!

Pumpkinstace · 08/09/2021 21:36

I'm on first name terms with the deliveroo driver.

Probably one a week.

DDMAC · 08/09/2021 21:37

Think we went twice this summer which is unusual. Usually once over the various mid term breaks. The one in our town is always packed too. We weren’t allowed to have it as children I remember looking longingly in the window on a rare trip to Dublin, only one in the country back then.

CheapFoodShits · 08/09/2021 21:42

Every Wednesday. It's my post weigh-in treat.

AliTheMinx · 08/09/2021 21:46

Maybe twice a year! I think there is sometimes a bit of a stigma or other people can be very judgemental. For us, it's a very occasional treat...
