The one I dislike most is 'and just like that'

'And just like that I have a (2, 12, 18 insert number) year old'

'And just like that she's off to university'

Am I alone in finding this exceedingly annoying?

It's not the only one.

'This dress is everything'
'This cake is everything'

Why do people copy these irritating trends? It's not young people either!

'And so it begins' - fuck off, you're drinking prosecco in your garden. Its hardly an Everest attempt.

Agree with 'I did a thing'. Its so annoying.

LBirch02 · 07/09/2021 09:08

“A whole mood” like wtf??

Although admittedly this is more of a teenage thing

LookToTreblesGoingTreblesGone · 07/09/2021 09:09

"Feeling blessed" Argh!

Letsallscreamatthesistene · 07/09/2021 09:09

Yes - 'mood'. Wtf does this even mean.

Silverparting · 07/09/2021 09:09

Living our best lives...

scrivette · 07/09/2021 09:10

'Feeling blessed'

Oh god yes I hate that one too.
kittenkipping · 07/09/2021 09:10

I hate living my best life

Wtf does it mean? Really? Because whatever you are living- it's the best life you have. We only get 1. Whether you are miserable poor on the streets or living in a mansion where happiness abounds- it's your best life.

See also- living my truth. What? Such nonsense.

CatMandarin · 07/09/2021 09:11

Something I've noticed recently on mumsnet is people describing someone expressing a different opinion than their own as "screaming." Eg. Why do people scream that we should do so and so. No screaming has occurred they've just expressed an opinion. It's a bloody irritating trend that people have started copying off each other.

pangolina · 07/09/2021 09:11

"And just like that"
"In the blink of an eye"
"Much needed/ well deserved"
"Bliss"
"This One"
Fuck offffffffff

pheonixrebirth · 07/09/2021 09:12

Inbox me babe- normally the Facebook drama queen. 🤦‍♀️

CheapFoodShits · 07/09/2021 09:12

"It's the ..…..... for me."

Or people who say "I love you to the moon and back". Mate, fuck off to the moon and stay there.

CatMandarin · 07/09/2021 09:13

"The rest is history " has always been annoying.
"Our eyes met..and the rest is history" 🤮

WheelieBinPrincess · 07/09/2021 09:13

Ugh yeah a ‘well deserved’ or ‘much needed’ picture of a gin and tonic 😂

Just have one if you want one you don’t have to justify it by implying you’ve had a tough week! My gin and tonics are rarely particularly needed or deserved.

Sparklebrandy · 07/09/2021 09:14

"you got this"

Siameasy · 07/09/2021 09:15

Agree. Thing is, some people are nice in real life but the way they post on social media makes me dislike them.

I play a game with myself where I try to avoid Americanisms and internet-speak if I find myself about to use such a phrase I quickly reshuffle!

Zealois · 07/09/2021 09:15

Definitely agree with "making memories". I mean, personally most of my childhood memories are of things that happened when my parents weren't there. I'm not sure if those things just felt more important because I wasn't with them, but my strong memories are of things like sleepovers, camp, school. Or my memories with my parents are of completely random moments.

Someone on my Instagram is always talking about "making memories" and how "this is a day they'll look back on fondly" etc.

WheelieBinPrincess · 07/09/2021 09:17

My friend captions EVERY photo she takes with her baby as ‘mama life’.

RyanReynoldsHusband · 07/09/2021 09:17

‘You do you’

Oh, so you’re just not so subtly saying someone who doesn’t agree with you is wrong? Fuck off

Silverparting · 07/09/2021 09:17

I saw holibobs used the other day too. Hoped that had died out, which leads me to staycation....!

WheelieBinPrincess · 07/09/2021 09:19

My parents probably thought they were ‘making memories’ the first time they took me to centre parcs and I learnt to swim but all I remember about that is being sick multi-coloured vomit in a lay-by on the way hone from eating an entire bag of flavoured fudge from the gift shop 🤷🏻‍♀️

kittenkipping · 07/09/2021 09:19

Can I also add "a cheeky" anything. Gin, pint, cake, spa day. I don't fucking care Sharon! You're paying for a thing, perfectly polite, and are a fucking adult!!! It's not cheeky you carrot! Nor should an adult woman aspire to cheekiness ffs

notacooldad · 07/09/2021 09:21

I feel bad for the “making memories” people, they don’t realise their tiny kids will forget the picturesque boat trip/lovingly created picnic/wild camping and just remember the bit where they threw up on mummy’s shoes after too many marshmallows
Although I really dislike "making memories" memories aren't just for the kids. My children cant remember a lot if things I dud with them but they make me happy when I think about them. Even though my lads have forgotten I have shared the good and happy stories with them.

takehomepay · 07/09/2021 09:22

I hate all of the above!

I also hate 'I've been lucky enough to...'

Just say 'I did/I received'.

silkience · 07/09/2021 09:25

And so it begins' - fuck off, you're drinking prosecco in your garden. Its hardly an Everest attempt
