To think that men have turned into neanderthals?

I've lived in my city for three years, never had any trouble. In the last few weeks I've had a weird guy follow me and give me his number, witnessed a sexual assault, kicked some drunk guy out of the pub myself and had another bloke follow me around saying he wanted to have sex with me.

WTF is going on? I genuinely think that men's 'standards' have dropped and they're now regressing to animals Sad

And yes girls are being left with life altering injuries from sex injuries fueled by porn too.

RufustheBadgeringReindeer · 07/09/2021 08:36

NAMALT is a perfectly valid response to an all men are like that comment

Has there been any ‘all men’ comments?

Ive seen a lot of ‘men’ comments but ive obviously missed the ‘all men’ ones

I prefer the words ‘some’ or ‘most’ but I understand that posters not mean all men when they say men…

I agree that porn is a massive issue

I saw a musical at the weekend and one of the songs sang by a ‘17 year old virgin’ telling her prospective partner to pull her hair and slap her

So if I created a thread titled 'Women are stupid' would you automatically assume I didn't mean women in general and I was only referring to certain women?

It's deliberately provocative language and everyone here knows it.

Well obviously…I just said that

However, as i said i do prefer the words some and most (or lots)

RufustheBadgeringReindeer · 07/09/2021 08:52

And at the risk if going on i said ‘all men’

Have there been any all men comments because I completely agree not all men is a perfectly logical response to that

EvilPea · 07/09/2021 09:03

I watched mariella documentary last night, it’s not new. The internet is a new addition but this behaviour was common (for me) 25 years ago and it still is now.
I think we talk about it more, (rather than accept it and eye roll) which is absolutely brilliant. It’s not acceptable and it does need to change, but it’s so inherent

No, but unless you add a qualifier what you state about a particular thing is to be understood as meaning either generally or entirely. If I said 'cats are black and white', you might point out that there are cats that are different colours. I don't need to say 'all' for the sentence to be understood as meaning that I'm talking about cats either generally or entirely. 'Some cats are black and white' is an accurate sentence.
Sparklfairy · 08/09/2021 14:54

I really shouldn't have to justify and clarify "all men" to anyone that has any critical thinking skills.

It might not be "all men", but they were "all" men.

And when 90% of violent crime and 98% of sexual crime is committed by MEN, male entitlement and male violence is clearly an issue.

It is fuelled by violent porn.

ILikeYourHair

Sorry I might find if hard to dumb it down further.

Quite willing to try if you want though. Just say the word.

How wonderfully condescending and disingenuous Wink
Elieza · 08/09/2021 17:06

Dear Goodness, are we STILL going on about whether it’s ALL men or whether great uncle Jamie is an exception, and wee Mrs Miggins husband in the pie shop is a good guy… Sigh

Surely we are capable of understanding what the OP meant.
Stop nitpicking.

Yeah there will be exceptions of course there will. It’s not every single bloke in the whole world. But it’s a fair lot of em.

I left this thread days ago when the all men/some men comvo started.

Can we get back on track to discussing the important issue please?

wheresmymojo · 08/09/2021 17:56

@FMSucks

Men are lost (poor babies). Their roles have been diluted, they’re losing control and they know we don’t actually need them anymore.

Literally every single one of my DH’s friends have tried it on in some way, shape or form. My friend’s partners have done the same. Their sense of entitlement is astounding to me. They all come across as “family men” totally devoted to their wives. Are they fuck.

God, this is grim.

I've been harassed, sexually assaulted and date raped but thankfully I can say this is at least one thing that's never happened to me.

Not only with DH and my friend's husbands but not with previous partner's friends either.

Sparklfairy · 09/09/2021 12:03

I'm really passed off. Witnessing the sexual assault was traumatic to say the least (it was multiple men on one woman and I saw it from my window). And the man I kicked out of the pub and the man that followed me around wanted sex was both while I was on the same date, who luckily was lovely about it. I've dealt with shit men, but not on this scale Sad
