I think it's funny that Megan herself made a complaint and it was ignored.

Let's face it Piers is a complete twat (not the corbyn one), but the stopped clock scenario comes into play, what is more scary here is the large overlap of meganstans and thinking the 'culture war' is a right wing meme, the tribalism is obvious, meganstans are ignoring the key points of the OFCOM ruling and essentially saying 'I agree, but.. this is why they are wrong', without any sense of irony or critical thinking.

WinTheNight · 03/09/2021 22:27

Less we forget, he also accused Madonna and Lady Gaga of lying about their sexual abuse.

His comments were absolutely awful. How people say he supports women’s rights after those comments is beyond me.

ohtobeyoungagain · 03/09/2021 22:31

Meghan had to make a complaint as it was MH week and she works on MH charities.

PM must have been on bended knee thanking the stars above that she finally acknowledged his existence, though it could have been anyone on such a platform. ITV was on an MH week awareness platform at that point too.

itsgettingwierd · 03/09/2021 22:31

@WinTheNight

No one needs to think Meghan is a saint. She may well be a terrible person. But Piers Morgan's attitude towards her was absolutely unhinged. He kept frothing on about her on GMB, in his articles for DM he would reference her continuously even if she had nothing to do with the topic in question. The statement he gave after his walkout was somewhat balanced, where he said it was not his place to question her mental health but he finds it difficult to believe the palace did not help. If he had taken that line on GMB that would be fair enough. But he did not.

What he said on GMB would have been absolutely unacceptable if other points of view were not there. What did he say again? "I'm sorry, I don't believe a word she said, Meghan Markle. I wouldn't believe it if she read me a weather report.". This is not journalistic commentary. This is a person trying to satisfy a personal vendetta against another. On live television. And this came after weeks and weeks of continually trashing her on TV, shouting down any opposing point of view. This is what the complaints were about, not that he had opposed Meghan, but the way in which he had done it.

My belief is that Piers was drunk on power. He had earned a reputation for tough talk, and thought he could keep on shouting and insulting others without ever being challenged. That is why he had the meltdown when challenged by Alex Beresford, he couldn't believe a mere weatherman could question him on his show. GMB let him go because he was becoming unhinged. They really shouldn't take him back, he costs a lot both in his salary and the complaints. Yes, good for the ratings, like Katie Hopkins was, but that sort of fame/notoriety usually ends in a public disaster sooner or later. The way he has continued to gun for young black women since leaving GMB shows that he is better left alone.

Just let's not pretend he is some sort of flag bearer for women's rights or free speech.

This is exactly my thoughts.

Also agree and said what I was trying to much clearer.

It was obvious towards the end he'd lost control even of himself.

Naptimenow · 03/09/2021 22:40

@Viviennemary

I was glad they left. Most appearances were cringeworthy and undignified. Not how royals are expected to behave.
Because Royals always behave well? You don't know much do you?
Serenster · 03/09/2021 22:41

@ohtobeyoungagain that’s the narrative that is generally claimed for Kate, not Meghan (that she and her mother planned her life out from sixth form to snare Prince William).

ohtobeyoungagain · 03/09/2021 22:51

I think mostly for Kate the narrative was that she changed university choice for William. Possibly, also at senior school she changed to a co-ed to have the opportunity to meet him during school matches and possibly through his male friends at the school. I think the narrative for the school was that she was hoping to bag an aristo son.

The most ridiculous one was that a woman of colour could spend her life convinced she would bag a UK prince, and arrange her life as such (without actually moving to top UK schools where you stand a better chance actually. but so much was her conviction to bag this English prince, she could easily manipulate it by going to an American school and Uni, without ever attending a UK education).

Hdhdjejdj · 03/09/2021 22:52

I thought he seemed quite unwell too. The pressure of the pandemic seemed to get to him.

EmeraldShamrock · 03/09/2021 23:37

@Serenster Oh thank goodness it's a skit. Silly me thought it was real. 🤣
I might watch them now.

Blinky21 · 03/09/2021 23:42

Yeah Piers is a real stand up guy, when he's not mocking up photos of British soldiers torturing Iraqis, he's bulling women and dressing it up as free speech. Ofcom rulings are meaningless anyway

EmeraldShamrock · 03/09/2021 23:43

Yes he was seriously unhinged, he done an interview on an Irish show the late late show obsessively talked about his meet up with Meghan.
I don't think she is a bad person. Especially now I know they didn't produce escaping the palace, I'm cringing now

Late late PM clip. Sad fecker.
Nightlystroll · 03/09/2021 23:55

@Blinky21. What do you mean by mocking up?

callmeadoctor · 03/09/2021 23:59

Love Piers Grin

Haywirecity · 04/09/2021 00:01

@callmeadoctor. You are such a wind up merchant. 😂

Theythinkitsalloveritisnow · 04/09/2021 00:06

PM is a vile arsehole.

MM and PH are tedious narcissists who should enjoy the sunshine in LA and stop lecturing us plebs

callmeadoctor · 04/09/2021 00:07

I do though, and his wife is beautiful!

Haywirecity · 04/09/2021 00:11

@callmeadoctor. It's the thread you chose to write it on that's the wind up. But you made me laugh. 😄

beansprout55 · 04/09/2021 00:11

I'm pleased

@FreddyKreugersWife

The racism on this thread and the absolute pig-headed unwillingness to understand that people who grew up in different countries will use vernacular they are familiar with, is astounding. There is almost a determined racist obstinance to the unwillingness to cede that different cultures, races and countries have different meanings for words.
I have seen no racism.

Criticism of the behaviour of a non-white person is not automatically racism.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 05/09/2021 14:19

And yet I've just scrolled back and didn't see a single deletion ... and that's from MNHQ who, to their credit, are pretty hot on it
And don't bother with the mealy-mouthed "they're very sly/careful"; if it was "astounding", it would clearly have been much more than that

Blossomtoes · 05/09/2021 14:24

@MarieIVanArkleStinks had it spot on with this 'Don't contradict me or you are racist' is also a line of argument I'll be bypassing. No one can have a civilised discussion on those terms.
