He's a journalist. She is a public figure who put a statement into the public domain. Any journalist should absolutely be able to criticise and cast doubt on such a statement. Otherwise what on earth is the point of journalism?

Wtf? I get he was cleared. I'm pleased. I dislike him and do not agree with anything he says. But you are delusion if you think that our right to express an opinion isn't being curtailed and that cancel culture isn't a thing.

You’re free to have any opinion you like but people are also free to question you and call you out if that opinion isn’t something they agree with. This isn’t a hard concept to grasp.

I loathe the man, but I cannot (much as I want to) disagree with the decision or the reasons given for it.

I think basically he thought he and MM were best buddies and she thought they were pleasant-ish acquaintances. When she 'dumped' him (or more likely just gently let the acquaintance-ship slide), he took against it. That's why he's so quick to jump on her now.
Plus of course he seems to generally enjoy publicly criticising people who are any combination of young, black and female.
