Would you say once / twice a week is normal?

Mulberry974 · 25/08/2021 17:40

Am working from home but generally leave the house once a day just to make sure I do go out even just for a wander. Some days am seeing friends so its more often....

EventOfTheSeason · 25/08/2021 17:42

At least twice a day, I'm unemployed but have a child at primary school.

bumblingbovine49 · 25/08/2021 17:45

Since working from home I probably only go out on my on working days most days so about 4 days a week and not always then. So I probably leave the house about 3-6 times a week so not very often at all.

I used to go for a work most work days at the beginning of WFH but that is not really happening much nowadays. This week I've been at my desk from 7.30am to about 7pm with a quick lunch break pf 30mins but that is needed to make and eat lunch and do a couple of things at home. When I finish work and make dinner and clear up I just don't feel like going out then

When I worked in the office, obviously it was more than that, probably 10-12 times a week

Nonicknamesforcatapillars · 25/08/2021 17:45

I couldn’t not leave the house. It’s a very rare occasion that I’ll be in all day. Covid isolation nearly drove me mad.

EileenGC · 25/08/2021 17:46

At least once a day.

I have a job, a place at university, shopping to do, appointments to attend, friends to meet with and family to visit. About 90% of that is unachievable unless I go out my front door.

fliss444 · 25/08/2021 17:47

In Covid/post Covid what is normal?
We have WFH v Office based which will dictate leaving the house times.
Young people bursting to see their mates v older people happy to potter and stay in the house.
I am a part time worker over 50 and walk my dog twice a day. I still tend to side step people out of habit.
I would say on most days I leave the house 2/3 times daily and avoid people as much as I can .(Nothing unusual there as I prefer animals to people!!)

Op you’ve still not given the reason for the question….are you a nosy interfering busybody neighbour looking to start on someone?

Flowerlane · 25/08/2021 17:48

I am out between 10 and 12 hours a day! Even during covid!

butterpuffed · 25/08/2021 17:50

Op's very quiet, I reckon she's gone out Wink

I leave the house most days but not always on a Monday or Tuesday (my wfh days and DH usually does the nursery run.)

HalzTangz · 25/08/2021 17:59

I go out every single day (dogs to walk) and also for the gym, shopping etc

Nigelsplans · 25/08/2021 18:04

Why do you ask OP?

Nigelsplans · 25/08/2021 18:05

@Cccc1111

Op you’ve still not given the reason for the question….are you a nosy interfering busybody neighbour looking to start on someone?
Harsh. Maybe it's to settle a disagreement

I am up at 5.30am and out from 7.15 daily term time, when i take youngest DC to sch. Then i go to work at a sch. I pop to shops at lunch time to run errands , do home admin in car, ( i am lone parent) then back to work. I collect youngest DC at 4pm then home . I am out all day. During holidays we go away on holidays and day trips at least once a week. If at home, we go walking in the village daily then home, then shopping, lunch out etc some days. Youngest teenage DC now does his own thing when home I DIY, house clean, garden etc if we are home all day.

During lockdown we still had our rural walks as permitted. I returned to work at sch early on, as key worker, which was a god send, at work everyday. Would drive me mad being at home all day and not seeing people for days on end. I have always worked and /or had the Sch run.

My 87 yr old ex MIl only goes out 1 a week now. It frustrates the hell out of her. All her friends are shielding as very old. She used to be out all the time and never at home, even b4 lockdown and when she was a young mum. She would love to be out now every night if she could ..at the dances with all the National Service boys from 1953.

Some like to be at home for days, some do not.

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 25/08/2021 18:16

I'm out at the very minimum twice a day

TheMoth · 25/08/2021 18:16

At least 6 days a week, normally.

WorraLiberty · 25/08/2021 18:20

Leaving aside work, at least twice a day.

I go stir crazy if I don't get out of the house, even for a walk to my very local Newsagents.

FlakeorTwirl · 25/08/2021 18:23

I've got a four month old and am on maternity leave. Most weeks I try to do a baby class, go for a walk with a friend, take myself to the shops for a wander. So I probably have social activities 2-3 times a week. Sometimes I just can't face leaving the house but feel guilty about it so I'll usually force myself on a short walk round the block with the pram just to get some fresh air.

WeAllHaveWings · 25/08/2021 18:24

Out every day, at least twice a day to walk the dog.

Then out picking up/dropping off ds 3-4 times a week.

Shopping for bits not in supermarket delivery once a week.

Other stuff - drs, dentist, pharmacy, other shops, post office etc occasionally.

Visiting or meeting up with local family maybe once a fortnight.

All pretty boring but out frequently for just those!

AlexaShutUp · 25/08/2021 18:25

Every day, often more than once a day. To work most weekdays (wfh around once a week now), to gym 3-5 times a week, to take my dd to activities/work/friends a few times per week, to nip into town at the weekends, to meet friends or family etc. So multiple times a day usually!

XenoBitch · 25/08/2021 18:27

I have a dog, so at least once a day.

lazylinguist · 25/08/2021 18:32

Is everyone who barely leaves the house doing exercise at home? It must be really difficult to hit the recommended activity levels if you never walk anywhere.

Surely you must be aware that most people don't 'hit the recommended activity levels' though?
But yes, it's also perfectly possible to get plenty of exercise in your house if that's what you want to do.

Longdistance · 25/08/2021 18:33

I’ve been out twice today. Once to another town to get sports gear for dd1’s new school and another town in a different county to pick up a parcel order and pick dd1 up from her new school induction.
Yesterday I went out once with dds to run errands.
I couldn’t not go out, there’s always something to sort. I work term time only, so will be at work every day M-F in September.

HappyDays40 · 25/08/2021 18:34

Several times a day. What are people doing that they dont leave their house unless unwell ( mental health issues or physical disabilities)
I guess if you work from home that is possible. Id go stir crazy if I didn't go out each day.
