AIBU that our holiday lodge isn't what we booked?

Nicer problems to have and all. I know we're lucky to be able to have a break at all.

Both DP and I are tall, both 6 foot plus, so I made sure we booked, and paid a lot of money for, a big enough bed. Otherwise we have to sleep all curled up together, or with our feet hanging off the end.

Aibu to be annoyed that we've been given standard double?

Not at all. What size was specified?

MangoBiscuit · 17/08/2021 08:53

All the info said a kingsize bed. It's one of the things I look for.

Why haven’t you complained? They could potentially move you?

Roselilly36 · 17/08/2021 08:56

YANBU if a king size bed was specified in the description. Sorry your break has been spoilt.

LagneyandCasey · 17/08/2021 08:57

Ask to be loved to the lodge you booked.

pelosi · 17/08/2021 08:59

Complain ASAP!! Make a fuss.

MangoBiscuit · 17/08/2021 09:00

We only checked in a little while before reception closing last night. Opens again in a couple of minutes. I wanted to check I wasn't being unreasonable before speaking to anyone.

I think I'll pop over and ask. I'm going to be knackered by Friday otherwise. Plus side, the water pressure is really good, and we brought good coffee with us!

As one 6 foot plus couple to another, absolutely complain and insist on being moved. Bed size is a critical factor for us when booking.

MangoSeason · 17/08/2021 09:02

Just saw your username! We Mangos must all be tall!

Howshouldibehave · 17/08/2021 09:02

Not unreasonable to expect what they specified at all! Tell them you searched specifically for king size beds and only looked at properties with them

NoSquirrels · 17/08/2021 09:02

I wanted to check I wasn't being unreasonable before speaking to anyone.

You’re never unreasonable to complain if you’ve paid for something you haven’t received.

TheTeenageYears · 17/08/2021 09:03

Definitely raise the issue. When we book anything bed set up is a huge consideration and if we turned up and it wasn't as advertised I would be pretty hacked off.

PumpkinPie2016 · 17/08/2021 09:04

YANBU my husband is 6ft 2in tall and we always specifically book places with king sized beds for the reasons you give.

I would complain and tell them you specifically booked a king sized bed. They may be able to move you.

CheesyMother · 17/08/2021 09:04

Have you spoken to them about it?

DoubleTweenQueen · 17/08/2021 09:05

@MangoBiscuit King-size is now used in UK to describe what used to be a Queen size - 5ft wide and the standard length of 180cm/6ft?

Shylo · 17/08/2021 09:06

Another voice of agreement - my OH is 6ft4 and I always make sure we have big beds with no foot boards before I book , I’d be cross too

DoubleTweenQueen · 17/08/2021 09:08

Sorry - should be 200cm long, 6'6"

Really-do you have a link for this?

We recently bought a king size bed and saw no reference anywhere to this.

DoubleTweenQueen · 17/08/2021 09:10

And yes - if your bed is not the size as booked that's not acceptable - it's pretty important for you to be able to sleep comfortably.

Waspsarearseholes · 17/08/2021 09:12

@doubletweenqueen a double bed is 135cmx190xm and a king is 150cmx200cm in the UK

I feel your pain (late DH was tall) but can I suggest that before you complain , measure to be sure you are right? The length difference is only 4 inches www.dreams.co.uk/bed-mattress-guide/the-mattress-size-guide

Since when? We always book king size, like the OP my DH is 6ft + and anything smaller is uncomfortable and we always get a king size.

Waspsarearseholes · 17/08/2021 09:13

Oops, sorry, started typing before I saw your update @doubletweenqueen

PineappleWilson · 17/08/2021 09:16

Remembering the wedding anniversary we spent in seperate beds as the double had a base board and 6"3 DH couldn't sleep in it, so he slept in the single bed in the room with a headboard but no base board, I absolutely say complain, or, politely (as it's unlikely the reception staff created the online posting) ask what their definition of a Kingsize bed is.

pussycatlickinglollyices · 17/08/2021 09:16

The length difference is only 4 inches

But 4 inches makes all the difference.
