AIBU to let 12 yo DD go out wearing these shorts?

DH says I am.

DD (12) (but looks about 14) has these shorts which I got for her to exercise in but she says they're comfortable and likes them so wears them out and about.

Yesterday she wore them with a short top when she walked to meet her friend. They got a Costa then walked back to ours.

DH said she was "asking for trouble" because she was wearing the shorts and wants me to tell her she can't wear them out and about.

He reckons a paedophile will look at her and think "her parents don't care about her" and will abduct her.

(She made it home safely by the way).

And, I think most fathers and mothers will tell their children to buckle up too. They shouldn't have to...but it's naive to think they shouldn't

That is my response to some posters who say to challenge the source. (Particularly the walking home after dark topic)
I don't think the OP's dd's shorts are going to create a paedophile or cause them to complete an action they wouldn't otherwise. I do think those shorts with a crop top are inappropriate for wearing about town/costa at aged 12 (or any age) unless in a gym. I always had my own rule as a teen. Either low cut or short..not both.

Ya maybe I just have different tastes in fashion but I find the trend of almost underwear ridiculous. Modesty doesn't mean you are giving in to anything. It's just modesty.

I think ops dh is concerned for his daughters safety as ant dad would hate to think of men leering at their daughter. He is not sounding like a pervert as someone suggested.

Op there are plenty of comfortable shorts that don't look like underwear.
