@Dogmum40

Welcome to MN! You’ll love it here, honestly! 🤣 Here’s a few pointers though
  1. As you mentioned, a chicken can feed a family for 5 meals and don’t you dare throw the carcass away, it must be used to make soup/stock
  1. Any niggle or disagreement you have will your other half should result in divorce or him/her leaving as he/she is an arse
  1. According to a lot of posts over the years I cook shite, clean shite, socialise shite so basically I’m shite at life according to the MN bible
  1. No one has credit card debt, or any debt of any kind, credit cards are always paid off every month and car HP /any kind of loan is very bad
  1. Everyone is mortgage free by 40 with several homes under their belts (also mortgage free)
  1. Everyone is a very high earner
  1. If your skint and ask for suggestions on anything to do with money management the answer is not remotely helpful or budget friendly
  1. All mother in laws appear to be a spawn of Satan (no idea why but there’s a lot of threads about those evil ones 🤣)
  1. Don’t post anything on MN that you need help with
  1. I repeat DO NOT post anything that you need help with, you will feel shiter about yourself

Hope that helps..

7. If your skint and ask for suggestions on anything to do with money management the answer is not remotely helpful or budget friendly

And you immediately get accused of starting a veiled 'begging thread' resulting a "Not everyone is who they say they are..." post by MNHQ

@HunkyPunk

I think this must be the most convivial AIBU thread I've ever come across in all my years on MN!
Indeed it is!
larkstar · 13/08/2021 02:39

This is about the only funny thread on the whole site.
There is some great advice, insight and support here but MN is the most depressing and upsetting site I've ever been on.

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 13/08/2021 03:30

If you agree with someone’s post, you must quote it and type:

This with bells on it!

Fell asleep really early last night so thank you all for extra tips on being a newbie. Excellent advice and really amazed at the amount of replies as well.
Will check in again early morning Grin

don't ever take anything personally.
it's just words on a screen

Yes, if I cared what anyone thought I'd never post a thing. Grin

10. I repeat DO NOT post anything that you need help with, you will feel shiter about yourself

Seconded

sofiegiraffe · 13/08/2021 09:01

@ValidUser

If you start a thread about anything, it'll be assumed that you're getting worked up about it, and often that it's the most stressful thing in your life.

Example:
AIBU to want to buy this sandwich?

OP, why are you getting so worked up about a sandwich?

😂😂
sofiegiraffe · 13/08/2021 09:02

Do NOT start a breastfeeding thread. Ever.

Why?

pickle46 · 13/08/2021 09:05

Morning All
I see I made a basic newbie error of posting in AIBU instead of chat😂
Life lesson taken on board

I think you can start a breastfeeding thread. if you want some help and advice with breastfeeding.
But not a thread saying you aren't going to at least try to BF or how much easier you found FF.
You just have to tread carefully.

I see. Well if I was going to start one it would be a looking for support one! So that's good to know.

vodkaredbullgirl · 13/08/2021 09:27

Don't mention you are wanting another baby. Live in a 2 bedroom flat and already have 3 kids and a big dog.

vodkaredbullgirl · 13/08/2021 09:28

Don't mention benefits and have no intention of ever working.

vodkaredbullgirl · 13/08/2021 09:28

SAHM v Working mums

KurtWilde · 13/08/2021 09:40

Don't start ATAAT (a thread about a thread) because it'll likely get taken down.

On MN step mums are evil. They're either doing too much or not enough.

Don't start a thread about thinking you might need to rehome your dog for any reason even if it's life or death, you will be hung drawn and quartered.

'You have a DH problem' is probably one of the most used terms on MN of late. And I bloody hate it!

Posters will purposefully miss the point of your thread by picking up on a minor detail and running with it, thus completely detracting from the actual issue.

We all shower ten times a day and use a fresh towel every time.

TooMuchPanicNotEnoughDisco · 13/08/2021 09:51

Sone posters name change mid-thread to agree with themselves if they're getting piled on. It's usually pretty obvious too 😂

Known as 'sock puppeting' and should be reported.
Sparklingbrook · 13/08/2021 10:07

Talking of reporting, it does come as a HUGE surprise to some that this site is not moderated.
The only time MNHQ will step in is if something is brought to their attention via report. So talk of MNHQ 'letting it stand' often means they had no idea it had been posted as nobody had reported it. Grin

Yesitsbess · 13/08/2021 10:10

THERE'S A TARDIS EMOJI ON HERE?

This is nearly the best thread ever. I'm still emotionally attached to the CF with the Ford Ranger ones at the moment.

Sparklingbrook · 13/08/2021 10:11
Tardis

Yes but I have never used it. Until now. Not sure of the pint of it really. Dame as Bike

Strictly isn't far away though Glitterball

Sparklingbrook · 13/08/2021 10:12

Sparklingbrook · 13/08/2021 10:12

And same not Dame.
