When noting the age of your precious children use the lowest denomination possible, i.e if you could give the age of your child in hours instead of a nice rounded up age. It helps the story more.

Name boards must be bombarded with ridiculously pretentious baby names so people know just how middle-class and original you are.

Don't even venture to the conception boards. More acronyms than a doctor would even recognise. The posters on there do probably know more about conception than any other doctor, so good board for advice!

We are too lazy to use full words only Dh, DS, DD, DSD etc will do.

AIBU posters will be posting to self-assure themselves they are not being unreasonable but then will be very offended when posters point out that they are unreasonable.

If you post in AIBH that your DH didn't wash up his dirty mug the other day then you shouldn't have married him and need to leave him ASAP.

If you ground your DC you are abusive and should be reported to social services.

All DC should be moddle-coddled and wrapped up in bubble wrap until they are 25 years old. They must have phones, cars and bills paid for and babysat 24/7 by parents even when of adult age.

LifesNotEnidBlyton · 12/08/2021 20:26

You need a "run away" fund, because however good you think your marriage is and however normal your husband is you need to have money you keep from him so that you can take the children and leave when he's at work if he becomes abusive. You can say he hasn't been abusive in twenty years and is a really good husband and father but you will still be told it's a good idea to hide 10 K or so because all men are likely to abuse if the mood takes them.

All teenage boys are very very bad news indeed.

PlanarJaner · 12/08/2021 20:30

If you ever feel down go to the classics area. I love that rabbit hole.
There's especially a thread in which some mumsnetters hold onto your worries so that you can get a bit of sleep.
Halo angels the lot of them.

2bazookas · 12/08/2021 20:30

ALL our children are above average.

Noshowofmojo · 12/08/2021 20:33

If you have a boil or a very angry spot, you need to take photos of it at the beginning, during diy surgery and afterwards and put it post about it in Sporner Corner with a klaxon alert. I'm too squeamish to visit that part of Mumsnet but if you into pus it's the place to be.

2bazookas · 12/08/2021 20:34

Your MIL is a five-star bitch,, but everyone else has got a worse one.

Noshowofmojo · 12/08/2021 20:35

Also there's a very handy preview option to stop you from making mistakes in your post. I should learn to use it.

nancydroo · 12/08/2021 20:36

Don't be misled by the mumsnet acronym posted earlier, I clicked on this and it states that CF means Cystic Fibrosis, I'm not clear what it does mean on MN but it doesn't mean Cystic Fibrosis

PlanarJaner · 12/08/2021 20:36

Ah but knowledge of the trolls demonstrates longevity (Or do you mean it could prove I was possibly one of the original trolls? Hmm I never thought of it that way!).

  • 70k is a low salary
  • The second a person reaches their 18th birthday they should be financially independent and should be a fully fledged adult
  • your thread title isn’t sweary enough. Eek isn’t cutting the mustard. No one uses eek. Try fuuuuck.

Cheeky f*er I think?

Yes, Woolly Hugs is the best of humanity - never mind MN! Very humbling and restores my faith with every blanket made.

@PlanarJaner the Night Shift are still active, so feel free to drop by anytime you need to leave some worries, or fears here

singleandlooking · 12/08/2021 20:38

Never ever mention you’ve been on netmums

Flowerpower23 · 12/08/2021 20:40

Ok can someone enlighten me as to why we don’t use toilet brushes? Hmm

😂😂Oh that's not so bad, I thought it might have been @unt face
Essentially it wasn't a good thing

bakingdemon · 12/08/2021 20:41

If you're looking for advice on a specific issue (why is my baby breathing that way? Why do my ribs hurt so much in the third trimester? How can I get my dog to behave? How do I get this mark out of that surface?) always search to see if anyone else has asked before. Someone else has always asked before. Hey presto, lots of suggestions here already.

KurtWilde · 12/08/2021 20:45

And you must get your ducks in a row. You can't proceed with Operation LTB otherwise.

Clearthinking · 12/08/2021 20:45

The "I snapped and farted" incident is one if the most comical threads of all time? Because arguing with ones partner when you are angry, you can of course snap and fart

HunkyPunk · 12/08/2021 20:48

If you have an up to seventeen year old, you should be monitoring them closely and PARENTING them. If you have an 18 year old, unless they're living independently at least 100 miles away, then either you need to cut the umbilical cord, or they are lazy soongers taking you for a ride.

Under no circumstances put your first post in AIBU. Especially if it isn't an AIBU. (Although you seem to have got off lightly). Smile

scully29 · 12/08/2021 20:49

This thread is brilliant! at first I was like, what how is this an AIBU! and yet, that is the crux of the thread! AIBU is madness! absolute madness!

Agree with upthread that as a dog owner I am amazing, and will always comment on anyone with a puppy buying wobble!

Its bonkers OP on mumsnet if you are a woman you are immediately told by EVERYONE to LTB, but the same problem from the other prospective is a different story, it is all very wife/husband biased.

I do really hate any use of hun or hubby, agreed.

Basically, the thing is, all mums worry about all things all of the time, and so mumsnest (of vipers) is a wild old time of crazy.

So key is - DO NOT take it to heart.

scully29 · 12/08/2021 20:49

yes you have got of lightly, so hard to know, so hard to know, could have gone the other way I feel!

ilovesooty · 12/08/2021 20:49

@DorasSisterDrostitute

A teacher will be along any minute to tell you how many hours they work and how much harder their job is than anyone else’s.
Was that really necessary?
