I cannot be unreasonable here. I wrote on here about two yrs ago about my housemate who hid a camera in our kitchen. He is now a lecturer at a London uni.

The police were not interested neither was landlady- I didn’t contact university and am now wondering should I?

@Bluntness100

Eh? How was it innocent and how did OP know this?

Um read the thread or the last one, you’re confused on how forums work, we aren’t here to save you the effort and summarise for you, 😂

No, you’ve made an accusation, you need to back it up with facts @Bluntness100

Otherwise don’t spout off.

MsHedgehog · 13/08/2021 22:10

I’m amazed at how many people are defending the OP when she has been deliberately vague about what happened to present a misleading account of what happened. It’s actual 50/50 on the vote.

For those who think OP should report... PLEASE READ THE OTHER THREAD

CalishataFolkart · 14/08/2021 01:15

@phishy

For approximately the fourth or fifth time on this thread, here is what OP said in their original post.

“He is working on a project sequencing film scenes through machine learning. I presume he will say he wanted to track motion in front of a lense, etc, etc. When I found the camera I said no recording bt then found he had moved camera to front room and started recorded front of house. Then set up a different thing (not sure what it is) to automate watering plants that works from his computer It doesn't have a camera on it (that I can see) or recording device..”

OP knew it was ethically wrong, challenged the knobhead and he moved the camera.

No, you’ve made an accusation, you need to back it up with facts @Bluntness100**

Otherwise don’t spout off.

And, in fact @phishy, if anyone is making accusations, and then doing their best to evade the facts it seems to be @Smurfsarethefuture (the original poster) and her misguided band of supporters!

Astella22 · 14/08/2021 03:30

You sound desperate to paint this man as some type of sexual deviant which you acknowledged that he wasn’t in your first post. The recording was as part of a uni project so he had a legitimate reason for having the camera.
Trying to derail his career years later cos you don’t like him is awful.

wombat1a · 14/08/2021 03:55

I work in a uni, have got PhD students etc.

a) If this was reported 5 yrs later we would consider it sour grapes and we'd be more likely to make a note of in order to not offer them anything in the future if they applied.

b) If someone reported this to me of one of my Ph.D students then I would ignore it, its nothing to do with me as their supervisor - its a police/landlord matter not a supervisor one.

This may seem harsh but I have to protect myself and my lab as well, taking a unsubstantiated claim against someone is a serious thing and if the accusee decided to accuse me of treating them unfairly of I did something towards them in regard to these matter would probably end up with me losing my job.

wombat1a · 14/08/2021 03:59

Sorry mean to say

a) If this was reported 5 yrs later we would consider it sour grapes and we'd be more likely to make a note of in order to not offer anything to the person doing the reporting in the future if they rever applied.

HeyDemonsItsYaGirl · 14/08/2021 10:50

It’s actual 50/50 on the vote.

Most people vote after reading the first post, which in this case was very misleading. It doesn't mean anything.

Lweji · 14/08/2021 14:16

these was a conviction in my friends case.

So, nothing to do with this thread, then.
