Rosé wine is awful.

Please give your opinions, all welcome...

I've yet to find a Rosé wine that doesn't give me an instant dull headache, tried lots of different blends/price points and still believe that it tasted just crap.

Cheap rosé is awful- drank it in the droves at uni.
My advice, try a nice blush rosé such as a provance rosé or a whispering Angel 😋

Icequeen01 · 11/08/2021 09:22

@Bryonyshcmyony - I would be really interested in hearing what you think if you do try it.

bleachblondemom · 11/08/2021 10:26

I’ve just ordered my first bottle of whispering angel because of this thread 😁 heard of it but never tried it

Provençale or nothing

ThreeImaginaryBoys · 11/08/2021 11:11

Another vote for Provençal rosé here. I'm a red wine drinker and move to rosé on hot days. The sweet stuff is vile, like pink Liebfraumilch, but a good, dry pink is heavenly.

It can really be a case of getting what you pay for. And if you're splashing out, Laurent Perrier rosé is delicious.

jajabanks · 11/08/2021 11:21

Another vote for miraval and they also do a cheaper one which is also good called studio. I definitely say I'm now drawn to the Provence ones

WTF? All Rose wine?

I live in a small NZ wine area. We have 23 vineyards in the local area. Each one makes a rose and every single one is different in style.

Also they are the first wines of the vintage to sell out. Hot summers days on the beach lend themselves to a rose...

Oooo can you recommend any that we might be able to find in the UK? Or do you, like the Portuguese, keep all the best ones for yourselves?

@Cleverpolly3 oh I am so making these this weekend!

FunnyWonder · 11/08/2021 12:25

I take a notion for Rose (sorry, can't figure out acute accent on iPad!) sometimes. I love the aroma and enjoy the first couple of sips. After that it tastes quite sickening and perfumey. And yes, I always get a headache for some reason.

So no help hereGrin

@FunnyWonder press and hold the ‘e’ key on your screen and a menu will pop up with the various accent options for the character Smile

Ah, great @Zhampagne it's a sorry day you don't learn something new! Thank you.

Malin52 · 11/08/2021 13:00

Sorry @shallIswim we definitely keep all the best ourselves! Our vineyards are only tiny! The producers can't keep up with local demand never mind the rest of the north island and certainly not global!

HoliHormonalTigerlilly · 12/08/2021 08:42

Whispering Angel is also delicious.

borntobequiet · 12/08/2021 08:54

I drink Mateus Rosé when feeling nostalgic. Then I get a nostalgic headache.

This stuff is lovely, www.ocado.com/products/le-petit-chat-malin-rose-44387011

I’ll never forget my first glass of rose on a holiday in Provence, so good!
