Rosé wine is awful.

Please give your opinions, all welcome...

I've yet to find a Rosé wine that doesn't give me an instant dull headache, tried lots of different blends/price points and still believe that it tasted just crap.

Whispering Angel! Beautiful.

givealittlelove · 10/08/2021 20:59

@AesopsMables

I probably haven't tasted the "good stuff" then? Including but not limited to... Whispering Angel AIX Minuty

Awful 😞

The good stuff is down to the tastebuds! Honestly one persons favourite wine can easily be another persons 'yick!'. If there are other wines that you like, then guaranteed there will be a rose tipple out there for you. Just keep sippin'! Wink Wine

"Rosé - wine for people who don't like wine"!

2mutsandsomebabies · 10/08/2021 21:00

You need Gris!

CounsellorTroi · 10/08/2021 21:00

I don't mind pink champagne but anything else rose gives me a headache.

Jubaju · 10/08/2021 21:01

@Pinkstegosaurus I have seen the gin! Haven’t tried it yet though. It will be lovely :)

TheHuntingOfTheSarky · 10/08/2021 21:01

Leftfield from Waitrose when it's 25% off or Tesco Finest Malbec Rose. Both yummy.

TheKeatingFive · 10/08/2021 21:07

What on Earth are you all drinking?! True, the bright pink bubblegum Zinfandel rosé stuff is foul - but a pale, bone dry, ice cold Provençal or Corsican rosé is the nectar of the gods.

Rosé - wine for people who don't like wine"!

Why do people still say this?

Slipperfairy · 10/08/2021 21:09

Heartburn in a bottle.

ghostyslovesheets · 10/08/2021 21:09

@rottd

Rosé - wine for people who don't like wine"!

Why do people still say this?

because they want to sound clever while actually also not knowing much about wine!
bleachblondemom · 10/08/2021 21:10

@rottd unfortunately rosé still gets looked down on quite a lot. I’m a big white and red drinker, but there’s still plenty of rosés I love as well.

rottd · 10/08/2021 21:11

clearly as rose wine has changed dramatically & is a growing market.

Aprilx · 10/08/2021 21:12

The statement “Rose wine is awful” makes no more sense to me than “red / white wine is awful”. Some is, some isn’t.

Keepithidden · 10/08/2021 21:13

It's like saying lager is rubbish because of Carlsberg, Stella, Fosters et al!

You just need to try the right one. For what it's worth I thought this about Vodka and Bourbon too!

shallIswim · 10/08/2021 21:14

Go pale. I have no idea why but I have more luck with roses that are the merest blush. And Provençal is the most bombproof

rottd · 10/08/2021 21:16

To be fair I don't like red & have tried loads but I get headaches but I love certain rose & whites. Just don't get the snobbish attitude to rose, I think it's incredibly versatile.

PotteringAlong · 10/08/2021 21:16

Try this one - it’s stunning!

Rosé wine is awful.
RosieCockle · 10/08/2021 21:17

Sickly sweet Zinfandel makes me heave (and I can drink paint stripper), but give me a lovely cold pale glass of "pink" and I can guzzle it.

Anyone ever had Swiss Œil de Perdrix?
V popular around these parts. (Cock's Eye we call it 😆)

warmeduppizza · 10/08/2021 21:19

Hm, the only way I drink it is 1 part rosé to 3 parts gin, on ice.

ghostyslovesheets · 10/08/2021 21:22

Anyone ever had Swiss Œil de Perdrix? no but I'll look out for it

I like most wines - love a heavy red in winter and a light (even chilled) one in summer, white is nice but needs to be dry for me and ice cold, light rose and a really dry cava

bleachblondemom · 10/08/2021 21:23

@warmeduppizza anything’s a mixer if you’re brave enough

warmeduppizza · 10/08/2021 21:25

Totally Grin

FloconDeNeige · 10/08/2021 21:26

@RosieCockle

Yes, we’re in Switzerland and drink œil de perdrix sometimes.

DH is from Provence and they drink plenty of rosé down there. I’d like to see them told that it’s for people who don’t like wine! Try a Bandol…

Travielkapelka · 10/08/2021 21:26

As pale and as dry as you can go. Heaven
