Or someone who thinks Covid doesn't exist?

YANBU = no

YABU = yes

I allow my partner to be in control of their own body. Mad really.
Yes, I strongly believe in body autonomy.

N4ish · 10/08/2021 21:45

No. The anti vaxxers I’ve come across have been pretty arrogant and egotistical, believing they know something the rest of us don’t and calling people sheeple etc.

Also seems arrogant to assume you know more about vaccines than professors and scientists who’ve worked in this area for decades.

Belladonna12 · 11/08/2021 11:40

No because they are either very ignorant or selfish or have an inflated opinion of their own intelligence or all three.

Belladonna12 · 11/08/2021 11:44

You can believe that someone has the right to choose but still think that choice demonstrates they are not someone you want a relationship. You would have to be pretty desperate to want a relationship with someone that you think is ignorant and/or arrogant and selfish.
IceCreamAndCandyfloss · 11/08/2021 11:46

No, couldn’t be with someone or friends with someone who thought covid didn’t exist or that they were above the rules.
Anti vax likely no unless for medical reasons where an allergic reaction etc could be seriousl

ginghamstarfish · 11/08/2021 11:47

Not in a million years, but I can't imagine being in a relationship with a person who doesn't believe in science.

SofiaMichelle · 11/08/2021 11:53

No. Not a chance.

A person's individual decision to have or not have one particular vaccine themselves would not indicate any of the above character traits to me. If they were an actual antivaxxer, as in being against vaccines in general and not wanting our child to have any then that would be a concern.

aerosocks · 11/08/2021 17:58

No.

I couldn't be in a relationship with someone as ineffably stupid as that.

miltonj · 11/08/2021 18:31

I couldn't be with someone who didn't believe in science.

I could be with an anti covid vaxer but not an anti vaxer in general.

Anon778833 · 11/08/2021 20:15

Sorry I probably should have clarified in my op.

When I say anti vaxxers I mean people who think the vaccine has been designed to kill everyone who takes it within 5 years and/ or make everyone infertile.

The same people who also think that covid has been made up so governments can control people because 'it's all part of the plan'

but i have noticed the only anti-vaxxers i know also happen to be illegal drug users... i can't fathom how they'll happily put that shit in their body week in/week out, but not get a vaccine.

Yes! I thought the exact same thing.

Yes, that's a bit different. People seem to be increasingly using 'antivaxxer' to mean someone who just doesn't want the covid vaccine themselves.
Cheeseplantboots · 11/08/2021 20:50

Yes

I have a whole family who are covid deniers, I don’t agree with them but what can you do.

tilder · 11/08/2021 20:53

@Bluntness100

No and I’d be worried about their mental health and their basic comprehension abilities.
This.
LeanneBrownsLonelyBraincell · 11/08/2021 20:54

No. I consider them self indulgent and of sub par intelligence

autummvibes · 11/08/2021 20:59

I've not had the vaccine and neither has my husband. We're not covid deniers and I'm not anti vax. We've made a decision not to have this one right now for personal reasons.

What a nasty thread,

Nixandwotsit · 11/08/2021 22:19

Anti-vaxxer - possibly
Believes that Covid doesn't exist - absolutely not

Rocaille · 11/08/2021 22:48

Interesting research from Carnegie Mellon & Pittsburgh University saying that, in the US, people who have PhDs are more vaccine hesitant than people of any other educational level.

Anon778833 · 11/08/2021 23:19

I'm certainly not disputing that vaccines can do harm. Of course they can just like any kind of medicine can. It's about a considered approach.

What I find ridiculous is the lack of critical thinking that seems to be a problem for some of the people so worried about the covid vaccine.

I suppose I could understand a bit more if you don't want vaccines and are concerned about everything that goes into your body.

For myself, I've had plastic surgery, fillers. I didn't give much thought to the long term effects of these things.

I balanced my decision making on the fact that I suffer with mental health and know that covid can affect mental health and can trigger diabetes which I'm susceptible to. I also can't be sure if I'd be uneventfully ill with Covid and I have 4 kids including a baby.

The people I know who think covid vaccines will kill us all in 5 years drink way too much alcohol and / or take street drugs. Then talk about not needing vaccines because their immune systems are so on point. How does this make sense??

OP posts:
LizzieW1969 · 12/08/2021 00:03

No. Particularly if he was also a Covid denier. But then, that’s hardly a surprise seeing as I suffer from Long Covid and have done since the first wave.
