To ask how many pairs of shoes you own

NoProblama · 04/08/2021 11:40

So I'm just curious. I have 17 pairs which I think is a fairly standard amount as it includes trainers, sandles, boots, high heels etc. I have a friend who has over 50 pairs and then my partner for example only has around 8 give or take a pair or two.

Pointless thread really but I'm curious

I pair walking boots
1 pair trainers
1 pair flip flops
1 pair wellies
1 pair "special occasion" shoes.

I used to be way more fun 😂

Ninkanink · 04/08/2021 16:01

All mine were/are good quality. But I still really didn’t/don’t need so many. I’m not sure what my final selection will look like but I’m thinking probably 5 for autumn/winter, 5 for spring/summer, 5 for occasion wear/going out. Plus walking shoes. Something like that anyway. Once I get to that point I will employ a one in-one out rule so anything I want to buy I will have to love it way more than what I already have. In conjunction with an ‘only buy if you really need it’ rule.

Oh how I’ve changed!

Ninkanink · 04/08/2021 16:02

@WildSwimming101

I was just thinking that too!🤣
LakieLady · 04/08/2021 16:07

@Quickchangeartiste

Are we including boots? If so I am well over 50 pairs, but actual shoes somewhere in the 40s. But I am late 50s and ha e accumulated a few in my time 😄
I'm about the same as you, @Quickchangeartiste, except I'm in my late 60's so have had even longer to acquire them!

Some of mine are really old, like 30 years old, maybe even more.

Kinsters · 04/08/2021 16:08

4 - flip flops, sandals, trainers and boots.

P0gM0Th0in · 04/08/2021 16:17

I have about 135. Shock In my defence, most are very cheap. I get a lot of 2nd hand Miss L Fire and Lulu Hun shoes on eBay for instance. A lot of my sandals were on sale-at-New-Look levels of cheap. I dress very vintage and I’m very matchy matchy, which probably has something to do with it. I couldn’t possibly wear warm red sandals with a cool red dress; the horror!

I have a whole (small) room for my mass of mostly 2nd hand clothes and shoes. Before I was lucky enough to have this I kept a lot of them in the attic and rotated. I do actually wear a large proportion of them fairly regularly.
I semi regularly sell clothes I don’t wear on eBay but you get sweet FA for non designer shoes, so I only really get rid of shoes when they fall apart. (This happens a lot…)

TottiePlantagenet · 04/08/2021 16:19

About 80 pairs (not counting wellies, running shoes).

Some in the understairs cupboard, most in their boxes. I have shoes that are +20 years old and in good condition. I used to love heels and commute in them too! but haven't worn any since the pandemic :(

OhGiveUp · 04/08/2021 16:20

According to my DH I could set up a shoe shop due to the amount I own. I keep them in shoe boxes in the spare bedroom.
I love shoes, I buy at least one pair of footwear a month, from expensive to cheap.
Don't get me started on handbags 😂

Lagomtransplant · 04/08/2021 16:25

8 pairs

Boots and flats for work, depending on the season, gym trainers, hiking boots and converse for the weekend, pool flip-flops, gardening shoes and a special-occasion pair of court shoes that usually comes out for weddings and funerals, currently gathering dust in the attic.

I don't like shoes, if it were socially acceptable to walk barefoot everywhere, I would.

merryhouse · 04/08/2021 17:08

Eleven (or possibly 12?), counting the walking boots.

It would be more, but most shoes are not my friend, contrary to what some posters have said. Nothing more upsetting than finding a beautiful pair of shoes and discovering you can't get your foot in them Sad

NewYearmorestress · 04/08/2021 17:19

5

HoboSexualOnslow · 04/08/2021 17:25

Around 50. I have custom storage for them.

wordsareveryunnecessary · 04/08/2021 17:29

2 pairs of flip flops, 2 pairs of Chelsea boots, a pair of waterproof walking shoes, a pair of Regatta casual trainers

DoorMatCat · 04/08/2021 18:10

I'm too ashamed to say...

Don't ask how many coats/jackets I have either

...or scarves...

...or gloves...

...or bags...

...I am well aware I may have a problem...

Ninkanink · 04/08/2021 18:44

@DoorMatCat you sound like me! Grin LOVE all the shoes...boots...coats...jackets...scarves...hats...BAGS

I’m actually really enjoying being minimal, though. It feels good.

malificent7 · 04/08/2021 19:08

I love shoes but can't buy loads atm.
2 x dm boots
2x converse
2 x Nikes
1 x chelsea boots
1 x pair wellies
2 x walking boots
1 x heel sandals
1 x flat sandals
1 x dm sandals
2 x walking sandals

Need more heels but they are painful!
Need more knee high boots. Both of the later prob dated now tho!

thelostwoman · 04/08/2021 19:14

I have 9 pairs of black boots, my favourites are my new rocks.
3 pairs of ballet flats (I buy these yearly as I wear them out really quickly)
1 pair of trainers
3 pairs of heels I never wear
1 pair Mary Janes
1 pair flip flops
1 pair of chunky 90's style Sandler's
I would love to have more but don't have the space

Greenmire · 04/08/2021 19:28

1 x sandals
1 x walking trainers (my everyday shoes)
1 x winter boots
1 x walking boots
1 x 'smart' boots
1 x wellies

It's not an interest of mine so I only have what I need for my life and only get new ones if the old ones wear out. My youngest shoes are 3 years old.

HippeePrincess · 04/08/2021 19:28

I also have around 50 pairs after a recent cull and still I feel I don’t always have the right shoe for an outfit!
If I see a shoe I like that fits and it’s different to what I have I buy them because my feet are awkward and I can never get anything comfortable when I’m looking for something specific.
This includes walking boots and shoes, trainers, plimsoles, sandals, pumps, heels, boots, casual, smart and everything in between.

lljkk · 04/08/2021 19:32

Once upon a time I had 2 office jobs. I cycled to either and walked or even ran outside at lunchtimes, so kept office wear & outdoor walking shoes at each. That starts to explain why I have...

wellies: 3 prs
running trainers: 3 prs
walking sandals: 3 prs
officewear sandals: 3 prs
officewear warm boots: 3 prs
cycling shoes: 3 prs
slip-ons for nipping outside at home: 2 prs
slippers for indoors: 2 prs
walking boots: 1 pr

Giveszerofox · 04/08/2021 19:42

Chicchicchicchiclana · 04/08/2021 19:46

Yanbu

DroopyClematis · 04/08/2021 19:49

1 pair of wellies.
2 x ankle boots
1 x sandals
1 x winter boots
1 x trainers

Think I need to go shopping...

skybroke · 04/08/2021 19:52

Maybe 60 & that's after a big cull.

YellowandGreenToBeSeen · 04/08/2021 19:52

Over 100 shoes and boots before I count Ugg boots (worn as slippers only!), trainers, flip flops or crocs.
