To ask how many pairs of shoes you own

NoProblama · 04/08/2021 11:40

So I'm just curious. I have 17 pairs which I think is a fairly standard amount as it includes trainers, sandles, boots, high heels etc. I have a friend who has over 50 pairs and then my partner for example only has around 8 give or take a pair or two.

Pointless thread really but I'm curious

1 pair of trainers
1 pair of sandles
1 pair of work shoes
1 pair of dolly flats
2 pairs of boots

So 6 all in. Admittedly I'm not much of a "girl" at all 🙈

MiddleEasternMummy · 04/08/2021 13:39

I love shoes . Been collecting them for over 20 years . My spare room is full of shoes in their boxes I've worn probably once . Baring in mind in my 20s I wore ridiculously high shoes I could never wear now but couldn't part with them .

I would say I own about 400 pair of shoes and boots 🙈 . I probably wear about 10-15 regularly . I once bought a pair because I loved them and was sure I'd seen someone else wearing them .... turns out it was me , bought same pair twice .

Before anyone thinks it's excessive they make me happy !

MiddleEasternMummy · 04/08/2021 13:41

Also I keep them immaculate condition. Over the years I've probably donated at least 100 pairs to charity 🙈

Purplecatshopaholic · 04/08/2021 13:42

Well over 100 pairs. I am a shoe girl, lol. I keep them in their boxes and wear a lot of them regularly (or I did before lockdown!), and some only occasionally, but I love them all!

SquigglePigs · 04/08/2021 13:44

I don't really "do" shoes so only tend to buy when I really have to. So I've got:

Summer sneaker type shoes
Sandals
Navy walking/winter boots
Red "smart" boots
Black "smart" boots
Black work shoes
Evening sandals
Slipper boots

I also have an old pair of sandals and an old pair canvas slip-ons for the garden.

EmmaGrundyForPM · 04/08/2021 13:48

Including boots and trainers, I estimate around 50.

DH has about 10.

Eightyfourandahalf : my god that blogger picture shows no comfy shoes at all ..... her feet must be destroyed!

therocinante · 04/08/2021 13:56

1 pair of Converse
1 pair of gym trainers
1 pair of chunky trainers
1 pair of flat black ankle boots
1 pair of heeled black ankle boots
1 pair of Docs
1 pair of walking boots
1 pair of wellies
1 pair of sandals

9?

Oh, and some slippers I guess!

therocinante · 04/08/2021 13:58

@Youcunnyfunt

and you might ask "what are house trainers??"

I started getting foot pain during lockdown, working from home - figured out that I was scrunching my toes while I was at my desk. Never an issue before because I wore shoes. Now I keep a pair of trainers that I only wear in the house (I don't wear outdoor shoes at home, keep the floors clean and all that). Totally sorted the problem.

Oh my god... why did I not think about this? I have TERRIBLE pain in my feet since last year and I guess barely having worn shoes for 8 months might have something to do with it!?

Going to wear my gym trainers in the house, see if that helps, thank you!

I assumed they were more for show, 'stunt shoes' as it were.

The ones she wears day to day are probably in a pile behind the front door.

PostMenWithACat · 04/08/2021 13:59

Just loving 12.5 pairs and a happy dog Grin.

Psychologically I couldn't wfh wearing slippers so bought a pair of leather house clogs.

bellabasset · 04/08/2021 14:02

About 15to20 here, trainers, walking shoes, wellies, smart shoes, driving shoes and everyday shoes

HeyLala · 04/08/2021 14:05

I'm going to say about 400.

I don't know the exact number but in 2019, I took a photo of a pair every day for the whole year as a way of counting and cataloging them. I have bought more since then and not thrown any away.

Storage is an issue so they are in the loft on racks in boxes.

I regularly pop up and bring some down and rotate them.

Squills · 04/08/2021 14:06

70+

I used to wear heels all the time but I rarely do now... those shoes live up in the loft. Winter shoes and boots also in the loft until I swap around as the season changes.

Aprilx · 04/08/2021 14:13

About 40-50. I went up to count, but couldn’t be bothered when I saw the disarray.

Cryalot2 · 04/08/2021 14:18

Oops probably near 100. Life is too short to count.
Most are of the make fitflop and have them for years .
They are quite a number of toe post fitflops which are not flat .
A number of ankle boots .a few knee boots a few ballerina and several pairs of trainers, 1 beautiful pair of over the knee boots.
A couple of pairs if clarkes ankle boots 2 pairs of dress shoes and a pair of wellingtons. Blush

RoseMartha · 04/08/2021 14:25

12

KatesMott · 04/08/2021 14:48

I really need to sort my shoe storage out, would be interested to see/hear how those with in excess of 100 store/display/catalogue them. I often completely forgot about pairs I have or end up mixing boxes up and loosing pairs. Going to work on getting a dressing room made at the end of this year which would be for clothes shoes and bags, would love some inspiration.

TattiePants · 04/08/2021 15:05

Probably around 80-90. I have about 60 pairs downstairs and there must be another 20+ pairs in the attic (winter boots, old stilettos that I no longer wear and duplicate or my favourite shoes).

Caspianberg · 04/08/2021 15:28

Less than 10.

I’m happy to wear the same thing until they fall apart. Most are practical

X1 hiking boots
X1 black timberlands
X1 knee high leather boots
X1 trainers
X1 Birkenstock
X1 high heels - basically for show/ weddings
X1 wellingtons

I think that’s it. Do need a pair of flat slip on casual shoes as last pair died.

Marty13 · 04/08/2021 15:32

I am astonished by the number of shoes people own. Where do you even put them ? When do you even wear 50 different pairs of shoes ?!!

I have 2 pairs of sandals (one sturdy one lighter wear), 1 pair of trainers, 2 pairs of work shoes. That's pretty much it and satisfies all my shoe needs !

Manzanilla55 · 04/08/2021 15:38

12 pairs. I would have more if ds didnt live with me. Not enough room in the house for more.

DeepDown12 · 04/08/2021 15:45

Re: storing.

Frequent wears (work, gym, etc) are in the shoe closet in the hallway.
Out of season stuff in the attic.
Special occasion shoes are in their boxes in the shoe closet in the spare room.

UnbeatenMum · 04/08/2021 15:46

3 trainers (1 for gardening)
1 Uggs
2 Doc Martens
1 Snow boots
1 Knee high boots
1 Funeral/interview shoes
4 Sandals
2 Water shoes
1 Walking boots
2 Nice shoes for weddings/parties
1 Flip flops

19

I probably have a few ruined/uncomfortable pairs that I need to get rid of too. Don't currently have wellies as my walking boots and snow boots are waterproof.

Zealois · 04/08/2021 15:53

I try to just buy a few really good quality shoes and wear them out. I current have 1 pair each of:

  • Running trainers
  • Casual trainers
  • Black dressy boots
  • Practical every day boots (Blundstones)
  • Hiking boots
  • Sliders (for camping)
  • Sandals
  • Black high heels

And barely have enough space to store that many so don't want much more hanging around.
