To ask how many pairs of shoes you own

So I'm just curious. I have 17 pairs which I think is a fairly standard amount as it includes trainers, sandles, boots, high heels etc. I have a friend who has over 50 pairs and then my partner for example only has around 8 give or take a pair or two.

Pointless thread really but I'm curious

2 pairs of flip flops
1 pair of running shoes
2 pairs of ankle boots
1 pair of walking boots
1 pair of wellies
1 pair of smart heels

Twinkie01 · 04/08/2021 12:46

About 70 I reckon as a rough estimate. We have huge shoe cupboard with baskets in for everyday ones and part of our dressing room is storage for my good shoes.

I love shoes and trainers. And would rather spend money on them than anything else.

Jengnr · 04/08/2021 12:47

Easily over 50. Probably over 100

RubaiyatOfAnyone · 04/08/2021 12:51

I always assume that people who are in to shoes have nice slim feet that fit any pair they fancy - is this true?

If not, how the hell so yoi accumulate 50 pairs of shoes thay actually fit? I have very wide feet and it is hell finding anything, so i stick with
2x knee high boots (Jones)
1x trainers
1 x sliders
2x sketchers for work
1x wellies

So 7 in total.

adeleh · 04/08/2021 12:51

5

Rosebel · 04/08/2021 12:55

I have one pair of "formal" shoes, I pair of ankle boots, 1 pair of sandals and a pair of slippers.
Just realised my husband has more shoes than I do.

PegasusReturns · 04/08/2021 12:55

Too many to count.

I did a big cull last summer but still probably have somewhere at round the 100 mark.

eightyfourandahalf · 04/08/2021 12:56

That's how one blogger, with a normal life, stores her shoes (not my pic!)

Branleuse · 04/08/2021 12:59

absolutely loads

EccentricaGalumbits · 04/08/2021 13:00

50-70?

I don't ever throw shoes out unless they're worn out, and they hardly ever wear out because I have so many on rotation.

Many are stored away because they're out of season, or for a specific purpose (eg. football boots), or I'm waiting for them to come back in style. Which they will!

gingercat02 · 04/08/2021 13:02

I would be scared to count blush but way over 50

luckylavender · 04/08/2021 13:06

We had this conversation at work this week so I counted. Apparently I had to include everything I put on my feet, so 34.

user1497787065 · 04/08/2021 13:07

Probably 50-70 or thereabouts

sanityisamyth · 04/08/2021 13:07

3 which are actually wearable. Trainers, flip flops and riding/jodhpur boots. Seems to work!

superram · 04/08/2021 13:10

To many but at least 50 and I’ve recently got rid of loads…..

waterlego · 04/08/2021 13:10

Oh, my 18 looks a bit excessive in light of some of these other posts. In my defence, about 7 pairs are trainers and I teach fitness classes so I do need a few pairs for different types of exercise. And to coordinate with different gym outfits.

PercyPiginaWig · 04/08/2021 13:12

I'm going to guess 70-80, I donated 10 pairs of sandals to a summer shoes appeal but I can probably send some more to the charity shop. Many of my sandals or heels weren't very expensive but I liked to have shoes toatch my outfits well. Now I don't care as much and rarely wear heels.
The pricier items I own are mainly boots and trainers or heels that were a present.
I've hardly worn shoes this ayear

Cheesypea · 04/08/2021 13:17

1x wellies
1x fake uggs
1x heels/ funeral shoes
3x trainers
2x sandles
1x flip flops
1x smart brogue- never worn
1x slippers.
I had a massive cull over the past few years. Tbh I'm happier having the free space in my room.

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 04/08/2021 13:19

1 pair of sandals
1 pair of boots
1 pair of trainers
1 pair of slip on shoes for garden etc.

I also have kept my heels from my wedding but never wear them.

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 04/08/2021 13:20

Oh forgot 1 pair of wellies!

99victoria · 04/08/2021 13:22

I have about 120 at last count (including boots and trainers)

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 04/08/2021 13:23

Twelve and a half pairs, and a dog who is very pleased with himself. Grin

Bananarice · 04/08/2021 13:23

3
One pair of trainers, one high heels and one smart black shoes.

I tend to not buy a new pair without first throwing the old one.

Youcunnyfunt · 04/08/2021 13:31

I love shoes Blush

2x slippers
1 x boots
1 x crampon boots
1 x walking shoes
1 x outdoor trail running shoes
1 x climbing shoes
1 x sea shoes
1 x wellies
1 x crocs
1 x house trainers
1 x squash trainers
2 x fashion trainers
3 x gym trainers
2 x flipflops
2 x ankle boots
11 x heels

42! Shock I don't buy them willy nilly and I've had massive clear outs in the past. But, as you can see from my list... there are shoes specifically for purpose. Lots of my interests require proper footwear!

Youcunnyfunt · 04/08/2021 13:34

and you might ask "what are house trainers??"

I started getting foot pain during lockdown, working from home - figured out that I was scrunching my toes while I was at my desk. Never an issue before because I wore shoes. Now I keep a pair of trainers that I only wear in the house (I don't wear outdoor shoes at home, keep the floors clean and all that). Totally sorted the problem.
