Can’t shake the feeling that something is weird/wrong?

Since the pandemic started really..it’s all seemed strange, some points I’ve convinced myself things are normal, but it’s there deep down bugging me. I just find it all so odd, the pushing of vaccines on young people for incentives, no real discussion being allowed apart from what is presented to us. Is this normal?! Or is it me that’s not 🤷🏻‍♀️Does anyone else feel like this?

Ooh, here comes the drip-feed!

MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously · 02/08/2021 18:20

I think we've become so accustomed to politicians lying that when they do occasionally tell us the truth, we can't recognise it!
I'm sure the world's governments are not above taking advantage of any given situation, but there's not really anything in it for them to shut down the whole world for no good reason - they want us out there, spending money. This virus is expensive, it costs the world's government more than it can gain by lying.

foxandbee · 02/08/2021 18:21

@Hueylewisandtheviews

For a start, I’m no ‘Conspiracy theorist’ and have name changed but have been on Mumsnet for years. I’ve suffered the effects after having covid for 16 months now, with lots of improvement since Xmas. It’s most definitely one weird ass virus and I experienced things I’d never experienced in my life. I just have a strange feeling about it all that comes and goes
Yet you don't understand why everyone over 18 is being encouraged to get the vaccine?

Yeah, OK.

Waterfallgirl · 02/08/2021 18:22

@Flowers500

None of this makes sense…if you live in an alternative universe where you run around in a tin foil hat screaming the X files theme song
😂😂😂😂😂 this.

I thought there was a place for Coronavirus threads on here now —so we don’t all have to see them—

Hueylewisandtheviews · 02/08/2021 18:26

@foxandbee Nice. Thanks.

I think people are scared because many of us haven't been confronted with a global pandemic in our lifetimes. And the world is getting steadily more willing to believe conspiracy theories because our governments are so frequently doing something horrible behind the scenes (or in our faces).

The rise of conspiracy theorists in the last few years, and especially since Covid, is terrifying, though. I've seen my mum's best friend go from a completely 'normal' middle aged woman, to someone getting divorced and screaming at my mum, putting the phone down because my mum refused to listen to her latest breathlesss rant about how the government is trying to kill 50% of the population via 5G. She doesn't go outside much any more, because of the '5G radiation'. Just sits on Facebook, hyping herself into a panic.

She started by asking this kind of question - doesn't everything feel weird - and nobody answered "yep, it's a pandemic, we'll be okay eventually, just buckle in and keep safe". Instead, the "right" people found her tweets and told her a load of bollocks and now she's lost her husband, her adult son won't speak to her and her friends are giving up. It's sad, really. But she won't listen.

the80sweregreat · 02/08/2021 18:27

My opinion is this is more to do with climate change than the virus.
I haven't any proof and I'm too tired to explain my opinion, but this is what I think.
I feel unsettled about the future too op.

Hueylewisandtheviews · 02/08/2021 18:28

@therocinante That is awful, and scary 😔

Echobelly · 02/08/2021 18:29

Absolutely @MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously - accepting the situation doesn't mean 'blindly trusting in politicians', but honestly, if they want to create 'The Great Reset', I honestly imagine 'they' could find a way to do it without utterly tanking the economy and putting them on red alert for months on end.

Just take a look at Brexit and consider how likely it is these people could coordinate a fake a global pandemic with every other country on earth Grin

Hueylewisandtheviews · 02/08/2021 18:29

@the80sweregreat In what way? I’ve wondered similar, but then again, I’ve wondered allsorts of things 🤷🏻‍♀️

Yanbu op.

Some of the decisions made regarding the vaccine/isolation are just so illogical, you can't help but wonder.

You can't mention valid concerns or feelings of unease though or you'll be called a conspiracy theorist loon who thinks Bill Gates is after them Hmm

It just feels to me like everyone in power has stuck their fingers in their ears and gone 'la la la, the vaccine will fix this' without any long term (well publicised anyway) projections.

I mean - the vaccine won't fix it. We'll all have to live with it forever, vaccinated or not, yet very little is said on how we expect to do this. World leaders are just ploughing on, vaccinating people with fingers crossed it all works out.

It's odd.

RichardMarxisinnocent · 02/08/2021 18:30

By lack, I don't mean none, just a lot fewer than usual. There was barely any traffic on my road (often used as a short cut to hospital) and on the nearest main road heading to the hospital , so no need for sirens most of the time.

foxandbee · 02/08/2021 18:30
@foxandbee Nice. Thanks.
Look Huey, maybe you are genuine and if so I apologise deeply. But if not, I don't!

Echobelly · 02/08/2021 18:30

Also agree @therocinante - and very sad about your mum's friend. We lost touch with a very dear family friend due to conspiracy-theory stuff because she was mentally unwell and vulnerable to it Sad

Bluehasnoclue · 02/08/2021 18:31

@DameSlapsSlap

Of course there is something bigger going on, I just don't know what yet.

All this madness for a virus that has something like a 99% survival rate, hmmm not suspicious at all.

That means in a room of 100 people, 1 would die. Would you willingly stand in a room knowing 1 person in it is guaranteed to die and it could be you? Doubtful.
LuluJakey1 · 02/08/2021 18:32

I think we don't have an NHS that has the capacity to deal with the potential pressure of a pandemic. That is why we had lockdown, to avoid that pressure.

The government had not kept up the preparation that they should have in the event of a potential pandemic- another reason we went into lockdown.

Brexit was also about to put huge pressure on our supply chains for almost everything.

It was a perfect storm situation- still is to some extent. Thank God for the vaccines. But the government have not learned- instead of trusting the NHS they have fed billions of public money to their cronies to provide test/trace/PPE/vaccination services. Since vaccination services went to private pharmacy contracts, vaccination rates have fallen dramatically. We still have no extra NHS capacity built into the system and are now suffering the impact of LHV driver shortages. I don't think this is anywhere near over.

WeatheringStorms22 · 02/08/2021 18:32

I have wondered this myself.
@therocinante That is awful, and scary 😔
It is, it's really sad! I think people who are vulnerable - in some sense - are more likely to look for hidden reasons why things are the way they are. She has been chronically ill for a decade and I think the pandemic was the thing that tipped her into being susceptible to this kind of thinking, because she was already a bit angry at the world (understandably). So some people come along and tell her "this is who you should be angry at, they're up to something" and that's it, she's latched onto it.

Even as she was so poorly with Covid my mum had to go and knock on her door because she was scared she needed hopsital and she lives along now, she refused to admit Covid was real. She said people were being biologically poisoned with something instead. Baffling and very scary.

ConstanceGracy · 02/08/2021 18:33

It does seem easier to believe it’s a conspiracy as it means this isn’t real, there’s no danger and everything is actually ok once the government see “we” aren’t buying it.
I kind of wish I could believe that twaddle as I’d sleep better !!

I have a feeling that the travel industry won't survive this and flying / holidays will be only for the rich or those than can afford a private jet.
Air travel will be as it was in the 50s and 60s.

Or read the book by Laura Dodsworth

^ I’ve listened to it and it’s very interesting. I also know some psychologists who have said lockdown was a social experiment.

We’re having access to an NHS database where we can see who has been double jabbed very soon!

Our NHS is badly run and has been for years, but lots of countries around the world have had lockdown in some form or other.
Oneeata · 02/08/2021 18:35

I never gave it a second thought until I got my second jab last week. I literally came on within 8 hours of having it like 13 days early. I am usually regular as clock work other than a little false alarm a couple of months ago (could be peri) anyway usually bleed 2 days heavyish, 3rd day tapers off and then 4th gone. Today is 6th day bleeding and heaviest I ever had, having to change every 2 hours still and cramping like mad, was crawling the walls last Tuesday/Wednesday. Apparently quite common and I shouldn't be worried but your mind runs away with you sometimes...
Also had swollen lymph nodes felt like had a grapefruit under my armpit. Something just doesn't quite feel or ring right for some reason.

foxandbee · 02/08/2021 18:36

But why would the world's government's all conspire to do this @the80sweregreat? Are you saying the virus is not real or was deliberately introduced to stop us all flying?
