Can’t shake the feeling that something is weird/wrong?

Since the pandemic started really..it’s all seemed strange, some points I’ve convinced myself things are normal, but it’s there deep down bugging me. I just find it all so odd, the pushing of vaccines on young people for incentives, no real discussion being allowed apart from what is presented to us. Is this normal?! Or is it me that’s not 🤷🏻‍♀️Does anyone else feel like this?

UK is the most fearful population in the world towards the virus

Because the majority of the population live in densely populated areas in crowded housing. Not all, but England is very densely populated and it spreads more easily in those conditions.

@Humdrumdumdumdum

So when the first lockdown happened the were very few cars on the road.

I live quite near a hospital and heard many sirens which gave a sense of fear about what was happening.

Found out recently that ambulance drivers were told to put their sirens on when normally they would just have blue light flashing and sirens only when stuck in traffic but there was no traffic so completely unnecessary to have the sirens on.

I didn’t question it at the time and feel a right mug now!

Is that the kind of thing you mean? The manipulation?

The sage committee has more behavioural scientists than virologists

I also live near a hospital and i didnt hear anymore sirens than normal, who told you the paramedics were told to put their sirens on? For what reason would paramedics put the sirens on if it wasn't necessary? I worked for the NHS for many years, and whilst the NHS has many problems i cannot beleive managers would tell employees to do things to fool the British public 🙄
Echobelly · 02/08/2021 17:42

Well, it's a pandemic, of course things don't feel right, and it's horrible for everyone.

We have a truly awful government, but I think people should direct their energies at the real things they are doing in front of our eyes, like trying to disenfranchise people who are likely to vote against them to combat imaginary 'voter fraud', rather than unproven theories that don't make much sense. Getting people vaccinated doesn't offer any benefits to the government, nor, as voting intentions sadly show, is or was this government at any threat of losing their grip on power no matter what they say or do it seems!

Let's call those in power to account for what they are clearly doing in front of our eyes to voter equality and the NHS, not for nebulous theories - people squabbling about this stuff suits those in power down to a tee, because it obscures the real issues.

You didn't "recently find out" about the sirens. You saw it on the conspiracy theory video from the so-called doctor that led to his being banned from Twitter, or read it on the other conspiracy blogs If you fancy a rewatch the video has been re-uploaded to that bastion of sewerage journalism Bitchute.
Humdrumdumdumdum · 02/08/2021 17:46

If virologists recommend a stricter approach I’m all for it. I’ve had both vaccinations. I would rather follow guidance from actual experts than people who are more interested in controlling through fear. I would prefer statistics that were accurate.

FAD2016 · 02/08/2021 17:46

What do you think is happening OP?

Humdrumdumdumdum · 02/08/2021 17:47

Don’t hear any sirens today….

Don’t watch him conspiracy theory videos either.

Staffy1 · 02/08/2021 17:52

I’m just surprised at the number of people that think it’s all some sort of conspiracy. It’s killed loads of people world wide. There hasn’t been anything like this on a global scale in a while, so of course it feels odd.

bearandowl · 02/08/2021 18:02

Yes OP, you are right. There is definitely something wrong - this is a cover for something much bigger going on behind the scenes

foxandbee · 02/08/2021 18:05

What is happening is that the whole world is dealing with an unpredictable, novel virus. Nobody knows for sure what will happen next. The pandemic has shown how little control humans have in the face of nature and how precarious "civilisation" is.

Some people can't handle that knowledge and prefer to believe it's all some kind of conspiracy.

Meanwhile, I also live near a hospital, and there was a noticeable lack of sirens during the first lockdown where I live.

I am continually surprised by conspiracy theorists. Mostly I wonder how they think such conspiracies could be perpetuated and, especially, what they think the alleged perpetrators would gain. We already presided over by venal lying scum, they don't even try to pretend otherwise - why would they need a secret conspiracy to fuck us all over, they are already doing it, with the support of enough voters to ensure it keeps happening.

Interesting - I will ask my Cousin who is a Paramedic and drives a Ambulance about this - I bet you Boris's flat decoration costs she says it is utter wank.

ConstanceGracy · 02/08/2021 18:10

This kind of bullshit can only come from someone who hasn’t lost a loved one from covid or known someone really ill from it.
Believe the conspiracy theories of you really want to, can’t fix stupid.

Absolutely! The rumours are just laughable
foxandbee · 02/08/2021 18:13

Imagine if the vaccines were killing 1 in 100 people. Would the anti-vaxxers/conspiracy theorists be brushing that off as nothing to worry about?

TerraNovaTwo · 02/08/2021 18:15

Hitler and his nazi cronies were responsible for the deaths of 6000 000 Jewish people, so do believe someone out there is equally capable of such hatred and destruction.

Something is most definitely off with this whole thing. The virus itself is real and the need thereof for vaccination is real, but I sense further truths will come out in the not so distant future. Either negligence or intentional biochemical.

Echobelly · 02/08/2021 18:15

People reach for conspiracies because it's oddly comforting I suppose - it gives the impression that 'someone' is in control, even of something terrible, and that then just maybe they could be 'stopped' and there would be a simple solution.

Sadly, no such luck. A pandemic has been predicted for years and is a 'wicked problem' with no easy answers or quick exits and... no 'baddie' to be defeated to stop it all.

What a load of shite. There was still some traffic on the road, plus those who were driving might have been less careful as a result of it being quieter.

But no, it's big scary SAGE trying to spook us all into staying at home on the offchance that the people they want to target live near A&Es...

morningteaisthebest · 02/08/2021 18:15

I can easily believe that ambulances drivers who usually keep sirens off in slow-moving traffic would be using them more when travelling at speed on empty roads where people could be out for an oblivious wander around.

The sirens are an alert after all. They're not needed when people know they're there.

Hueylewisandtheviews · 02/08/2021 18:16

For a start, I’m no ‘Conspiracy theorist’ and have name changed but have been on Mumsnet for years. I’ve suffered the effects after having covid for 16 months now, with lots of improvement since Xmas. It’s most definitely one weird ass virus and I experienced things I’d never experienced in my life.
I just have a strange feeling about it all that comes and goes

foxandbee · 02/08/2021 18:19

I really despise posters like the OP who join MN or name change in order to post a wide-eyed faux naive question which they think the rest of us are too thick to realise is a classic anti-vaxxer/conspiracy theorist tactic.

Feck off.

The stupidity of some people shouldn’t be underestimated. The willingness to believe absolutely preposterous batshit crazy theories in the face of scientific evidence is baffling.
