Locked parking thread 2

BlueEyesWhiteDragon · 01/08/2021 07:38

Sorry everyone I didn't post a new thread last night but I was a bit freaked out by the comment about finding me online at the end.

Anyway as the world's most boring update it is still here but someone is coming round about lunchtime to pick it up.

I rang 101 and reported it and that I was concerned they'd essentially vanished. They said there wasn't anything they could do about the car as its on private land but I could be liable for any damage if I moved it and that they would check on the registered owner.

I posted it on a couple of the local Facebook groups last night saying
"Anyone know whose cat this is? Please get them to contact me urgently on xxxx as itll be being towed tomorrow"

I had a response from the guys DS and she said she'd contact him and get him ring me. He hasn't rang me but she messaged me back to say he'd collect it at lunchtime if that was OK. I've said fine but we going out at at 2 so if he's not here before then he won't be able to get it till we get back later.

And that's it really.

Two ideas for OP's DB to mull over, for amusement only. They came to me when I couldn't sleep last night.

 1. Buy spare number plates (IIRC you need documents to get them, so would have to be for a vehicle one of you owns) & blu-tak them onto CF's car, just to faze him when he turns up & you ask for proof it's his car. My original idea of respraying it seems a little far-fetched in the light of day this morning.Grin
 1. Get a spare horseshoe & attach it to the end of a stout stick. Then punch it vigorously into the bodywork, as though a horse has gone up over the bonnet & the roof, & down over the boot & away. When CF arrives, tell him one of the horses was alarmed at the sight of a car WHERE NO CAR SHOULD BE & panicked. You're sure he'll understand; it's just one of those things that happens in the countryside, & it's why you keep this gate locked.

NB This is intended as humour & these ideas should never be carried out.

Great job with the old empathy there @GilbertsLuckySock.

Sunbird24 · 01/08/2021 11:54

@GilbertsLuckySock if OP had actually refused to release his car as you said on the last thread people would probably agree with you, but he never even bothered to ask. If she’d been toonice and popped out when she’d seen him come back to the car he may well have just said they weren’t leaving yet anyway.

GilbertsLuckySock · 01/08/2021 11:55

@HaveringWavering mine wasn’t a parking thread as such, more of a FC wanting to build a new car park on the adjacent track, which would overlook the back garden. Someone recognised the ponds in the diagram and mentioned the region. Not creepy at all, I appreciated the advice. We are talking 2008/2009 here though when I first joined and didn’t have a clue how MN worked.

Coffeemakesmehappy · 01/08/2021 11:56

What a shame that a murmuration of starlings didn’t choose to roost in trees above his car … THAT would have been perfect!

PeaAndHamSoupFromAChicken · 01/08/2021 11:56

Just caught up with both threads and it really made me want a carvery.

I've never had one, always just done a roast at home when we fancy it. Our nearest Toby is 50 miles away and even the nearest non-Toby carvery is about 20 miles so it's not the easiest option when I don't drive. Sad

TheSunShinesBrighter · 01/08/2021 11:57

Here we go again. This is a new thread and a new day GilbertsLuckySock 😕

Mountainpika · 01/08/2021 11:57

Tie a couple of tin cans underneath where they can't be seen but can be heard on driving off.

Staffholidayclubrep · 01/08/2021 11:58

Is this op thread or luckysock thread? Getting confused

GilbertsLuckySock · 01/08/2021 11:58

@HaveringWavering my location is very similar to OPs. We’re robust folk, and a little set to with a tourist parking his car illegally isn’t usually cause for online publication. We’d go out and tow it with the tractor if it was obstructing anything (shrug emoji). A big fuss was made over this by publishing it online, when OP could have just towed it as she said she lives on a farm.

GreyEyedWitch · 01/08/2021 11:59

@GilbertsLuckySock At least two of your posts from the previous thread were deleted FYI

GilbertsLuckySock · 01/08/2021 11:59

@Staffholidayclubrep are you suggesting posters should be limited on how many times they can reply to a thread?

GilbertsLuckySock · 01/08/2021 12:00

@GreyEyedWitch which ones? Because I don’t see them.

LemonJuiceFromConcentrate · 01/08/2021 12:00

Wow, I haven’t been to a Toby carvery since about 1983. There is one near here but it has a faded, sad look and is in a weird location so I thought it must be a hold-out from a chain on its last legs. Are they still nice in other places?

Anyway — I might do a roast tonight too now Grin

RightYesButNo · 01/08/2021 12:01

I can’t believe I’m sitting here waiting for a man to pick up his car. And I’m not even ACTUALLY waiting; I’m waiting vicariously! But at least, I’m in good company Grin. I do hope it gets solved and they don’t try to be passive aggressive shite-canoes about your 2pm plans, OP. Have a lovely time!

Oh, and when his sister said he’d contact you and then he just made her contact you again… I reckon he’s terrified of you and the hellhounds, OP. He’ll probably beg his wife to pick up the car.

GreyEyedWitch · 01/08/2021 12:02

@GilbertsLuckySock There was one around 19.50pm off the top of my head. The other I don't recall but you've definitely had posts deleted by MN.

fluffedup · 01/08/2021 12:03

@Mountainpika

Tie a couple of tin cans underneath where they can't be seen but can be heard on driving off.
Do this, at least, it's fairly harmless.

And I'm another one who thinks you should only release the car to the CF - otherwise they could be anyone, how would you know?

Also if he's not there by 2:05pm then go out for the day.

or maybe 2:10 #bekind

You can see when you've had posts deleted.

Window1 · 01/08/2021 12:05

Well it's mid day now so every single minute from now just adds to the sheer audacity of this CF.

It's so hard to comprehend how some people can act so unreasonably.

Seeeeeeeee op is a Toby troll.

It’s working.

LouLou789 · 01/08/2021 12:06

The suspense is killing!

JammyGem · 01/08/2021 12:06

@GilbertsLuckySock You've made your point. You've also made OP very uncomfortable in the previous thread. Perhaps you should read the room and stop banging on about it now.

PricklesAndSpikes · 01/08/2021 12:07
@PricklesAndSpikes your comments to me were the deleted ones, not mine, that’s clear from the other thread.

I don’t have to reveal my location or background or life story in order to be empathetic to an OP. I still maintain OP was wrong not to let the man’s car be released when he returned, doesn’t mean Im not sympathetic to the whole parking situation for rural residents.
Erm, no they weren't! I posted twice, both in reply to you. Both of my posts are still there, I just checked. The only thing that is deleted is your post that I quoted. Confused

And if you had really wanted to be helpful you'd have posted something along the lines of "OP, just be careful, I was once identified from a diagram I made after I posted about a similar situation" and NOT "You're really easy to find if you just search FC tracks. Someone could do that and prove you're lying about having signs on your gates!" which is just creepy, threatening and weird!

harriethoyle · 01/08/2021 12:07

@LakieLady I had dreadful ndns in my last house and she was particularly bad. I bought two passion fruit plants and trained them on the fence between us... they were called Passiflora Silly Cow! Grin made me titter to myself everytime I walked past.
