To lock the jackass in (parking thread)

I live in a rural location which is very popular with walkers / bikers / horse riders etc. It's heaving today for some unknown reason as the weather is rubbish!

We have 2 driveways. One which was with the original cottage then a small bit of garden then a second which leads to the additional land we have. The second driveway the forestry commission have a ROW over as the track continues up into the forest. Next to that driveway is a footpath. Both driveways have gates at either end and both say private property/dogs running loose. (Diagram attached - not to scale!)

I have just had a straw delivery and so opened the second driveway gates to let the farmer in and trundled round the back to show him where to put them. He's unloaded and driven off and I've gone to lock the gates back up. Literally as he's driven off and I'm walking down a guy has pulled in the gates and parked up and 3 kids have jumped out and he started unloading their bikes.

I politely ask him to move as he's on private land and he says there are no signs he thought it was a parking spot. I say they are on the gate and it's clearly an enclosed piece of land that is not a parking space and he says he couldn't see them as the gates were open but he'll only be a few minutes. No problem, I say, I'll pop back and shut the gates in 5. Off I toddle.

I have returned and his car is still there and he has gone. He has left a note on the windscreen which says "had to park here no other spaces". I mean WTF?!

WIBU to shut the gates, padlock the fucker in, block the gates with my truck AND then disappear for at least 48 hours?

Disappointed to hear you’re thinking about backing down OP. Apologising isn’t enough at this point - he needs to be punished by being severely inconvenienced. Don’t answer the door until tomorrow!

Tambora · 31/07/2021 17:04

No surprise that the entitled twat turned out to be into cycling Grin

TheSunShinesBrighter · 31/07/2021 17:04

I want to live in your house and would also like your carvery. Very envious.

As for ‘We had to park on your drive’ Man... Who the hell does that?

icelollycraving · 31/07/2021 17:04

If you feel nervy, can your db answer the door as and when he knocks. He’s less likely to be arsey to a man. Sad but probably accurate.

gurglebelly · 31/07/2021 17:05

@MotionActivatedDog

OP I half suspect this guy will turn up with a sob story saying you made his child miss a football match or something when he eventually does decide to collect his car. He’ll find a way to make you the demon here.
In which case the answer should be 'I didn't do anything, I shut the gate to my private property. You shouldn't have parked on private property in the first place, but I gave you the benefit of the doubt and you had plenty of warning. You chose not to move so from that point it is entirely on you'
MoonlightWanderer · 31/07/2021 17:08

It's probably been mentioned but a previous thread they called the police rather than pluck up the balls to ask.

Arrowheart · 31/07/2021 17:08

@Blinky21

Leave him be if it's a one off and he's not blocking you in or harming anyone, life's too short, he's just out with his kids and it's been a tough year
Are you the Cheeky Fucker?
JudgeJ · 31/07/2021 17:09

@chaosrabbitland

i would have no hestitation in looking him in , parking up the truck and being unavalible for the next how many hours , if it meant i had to sit upstairs in the bedroom so he couldnt start peering through the windows to see if i was home that would be well worth it for me to teach the piss taker a lesson , i would also take great pleasure in hearing him knocking away madly at my door all in a panic because hes now trapped there , but thats just me and im a bit vengefull
I would have left the gate open, parked something very large behind to block him and when he returns explain that another cheeky sod has also parked there and gone off!
Howshouldibehave · 31/07/2021 17:11

I can’t believe they’ve been back to the house twice Grin. I presume the kids will start to get hungry soon-maybe they’ll end up in the Carvery as well Grin

gurglebelly · 31/07/2021 17:12

Anyone else surprised that this nonsense doesn't have #bekind after it? Why the hell should he get to do whatever the hell he wants with no regards to anyone else, everybody has had a tough year

Lougle · 31/07/2021 17:12

Shamelessly placemarking.

You know the OP was part of that tough year it wasn't just CF parkers pandemic! Plus she asked him not to park there, CF made a choice there and it's now backfired on him. He's out with his kids and was planning to teach them that they can do whatever they want for their own convenience, OP is just correcting that!

Pipsquiggle · 31/07/2021 17:21

Can't wait for an update on

  1. the carvery
  2. the dogs
  3. the cf
  4. how pissed off the cf's DC are with their dad

this thread has made me feel so much better - currently isolating with corona and I am bored off my tits

LibertyFLiberty · 31/07/2021 17:21

Loving this thread. 😁 we've also had a carvery.
Enjoy yours!! The man can wait.. or join you. Hahha.

Not a chance. Leave her yard wide open for anyone to walk in and potentially take stuff from the stables?
She told him that the gates get locked, gave him the 5 mins he requested and the CF decided he had to stay.
"had to park here no other spaces"
He didn’t ‘have to’ at all! He just thought he would.
Yes, it’s been a tough year. Would have been far easier too without the growing number of absolute entitled a**holes in the world that’s for sure.

mm8989 · 31/07/2021 17:22

I think id leave the truck, when he knocks...and he will have to at some point!
I'd say "what are you still parked there? that was hours ago, then I'd wander out look at the truck "oh good lord that's my husbands, he'll be in the pub, there's no way i'm ring him he'll be fucking angry"
Then i'd suggest he pops back in the morning, for his own safety.

HideousKinky · 31/07/2021 17:22

It's been an hour since we heard from you OP - any update?

Staffholidayclubrep · 31/07/2021 17:22

Just because it has been a tough year doesn't mean that everyone has the right to be a twat. There is no excuse for poor manners / cf.

Allowing this sort of twattery will lead to an increase in snowflakes

dodobookends · 31/07/2021 17:23

Who drives into the countryside and decides that the ideal place to park is on the wrong side of some eminently lockable farm gates?

What a monumental twat.

PyjamaFan · 31/07/2021 17:24

So having a tough year allows us all to park on other people's drives does it?

Interesting...

What else am.I allowed to do then?

TheSunShinesBrighter · 31/07/2021 17:26

OP is having nap after her lovely carvery dinner 😊
Mountainpika · 31/07/2021 17:26

He didn't HAVE to park there. If it had been for an urgent hospital appointment and that really was the only space, that would be different. If there wasn't anywhere to park, well, just drive off somewhere else to where there is parking available. If not, go home.

bluebeck · 31/07/2021 17:27

I agree the CF hasn't been inconvenienced at all. He has parked for free all day on OP's land.

I wouldn't answer the door when he comes knocking.

MoonlightWanderer · 31/07/2021 17:29

i think the OP is digging a pond for her imaginary geese.
