Why do people put these stickers on their car?

I was just following a car that had two stickers on the back - one saying "kiss my arse" and a Betty Boop cartoon with her bum exposed, and the other saying "you've just been overtaken by a girl". (See attached pics if interested).

Is it just me, or is this incredibly tacky? I mean, the "baby on board" stuff doesn't bother me. But why oh why does anyone need to announce that they are female for the benefit of the car they have overtaken? Doesn't this just perpetuate silly gender stereotypes about women drivers? And why tell a random stranger behind you to "kiss your arse"? Is that really necessary?

Do you have such slogans on your car? If so, please could you explain why, so that I can put this issue to bed and move on with my day. Grin

(I've been disproportionately irritated by this today - can you tell...?)Grin

I drove behind a car today that had the sticker 'you think this car is dirty, just spend a night with the driver'! I obviously overtook them at this point to get a look at said driver. Ha ha!

I have car stickers, I also have tattoos and piercings. I like to decorate my body, my car my home my workspace. I like to be an individual and I like to express that in various forms. TBH I don't give a flying monkey if anyone else likes it as its not there car, body, home, workspace etc.

@Lovemusic33

Tacky but I’m not going to lose sleep over it.

Well I'm pleased to hear that! I'd be worried if you did. Smile

I was in traffic the other day and I saw one similar to this with a woman peering out as if she’d been abducted which I found really unnerving and unpalatable:

@3scape

I'm not a fan of stickers. If I was in charge the irritating habit some certain neighbour has of lining up a whole row of National Trust badges. We have one, we replace it. This guy appears to have committed a proper sin as he has moved them from at least one previous car that we've seen. You like days out. Well done.
This is probably our car. My DS when he was about 6 had an absolute fit about removing the previous ones. At that point in time I was in the "choose your battles" stage and couldn't be arsed to argue the point. He's 12 now. We can probably take them off.

@AngryWhompingWillow

'Powered by fairy dust' is so cringe Confused

I bet they have pictures in their home saying LIVE LOVE LAUGH... and BE CALM... AND GO SHOPPING...... etc etc etc...

But yeah @feelingmehtoday the stickers you have posted, are really naff.

I also dislike eyelashes on headlights, and 'little princess/little prince on board...' signs.

I don't hate ALL signs though. I saw one some 25 years ago, that still makes me chuckle today.......

'IF YOU CAN READ THIS...... I'VE LOST MY CARAVAN...' Grin

Oh this has just reminded me of a time I saw that someone had used their finger to "write" in the dirt on the back of a white van - "I wish my wife was as dirty as this van". Gross. 🤮

I once saw a Rolls Royce with a sticker in the back window which read: "My other car is a Porsche"

I’ve saw this sticker too but it was on a really old banger which made it better.

They’re meant to be funny and not taken seriously and most of the time they’re brought as birthday/xmas gifts as an inside joke like grandads taxi.
They’re not my cup of tea but they don’t affect my day in any way.

It's so you know that the wanker behind the wheel has a vagina.

No other reason.

YeokensYegg · 30/07/2021 17:21

I guess people enjoy them. I like stickers for my planner but not on cars.
My exH used to make them and made quite a lot of money.
He also made the type that people put on their walls.

Where can I get one of these cars powered by fairy-dust then? Sounds ecologically friendly and easier on the purse strings than my old diesel!
OP you’re not wrong! I hate all of these car signs. They’re so naff and cringey.

MissDollyMix · 30/07/2021 17:26

The caravan one is quite witty tho! Grin

The only car adornment that is in good taste apart from those at time of factory manufacture is the Automobile Club de Monaco for those that belong or have attended meetings preferably. The historical rally metallic badges are perfectly fine too eg those seen at Goodwood Revival and international classic car rallies etc www.classiccarpassion.com

Tacky and posh. Quite the combo.
Maggiesfarm · 30/07/2021 17:35

I've not seen them (though am unobservant by nature), they look stupid.

JumperooSue · 30/07/2021 17:35

I was driving behind an absolute banger yesterday with an ‘I love boobs’ bumper sticker, so simple and poetic😂

Oh that's an old one, a very old one. You usually get someone adding "She is, mate" underneath it.
