What is the WORST pain you've ever had?

Personally, toothache (constant background throb with searing white hot stabs that made me feel like I was being electrocuted in my skull every few seconds) gets the award for absolute worst ever. Two frozen shoulders, and adenomyosis that used to regularly have me puking and fainting and almost hallucinating on the bathroom floor are strong contenders - but miles behind. There is just something about vicious toothache that makes it the worst.

Contemplating this as just back from the dentist, where at least for now, things were ok this time Grin

What about you?

Appendicitis. Almost 24 hours of unbearable pain and throwing up every time I moved from my specific curled up position on the sofa before ending up in A&E.

Childbirth was much less painful, by the time my waters broke and I was examined I was 9cm and baby was born within 3 hours!

GreatBigBeautifulTommorow · 29/07/2021 17:40

Shoulder dislocation for 12 hours waiting to go to theatre.
Despite morphine I wanted someone to shoot me to stop the pain!

Summersnake · 29/07/2021 17:44

Gallstones ,followed closely by tooth infection after leaving it 4 weeks thinking it was something else

bumptobean · 29/07/2021 17:44

Coccyx broke delivering my surprise 10.1lb baby. The pain was so bad I honestly wanted to off myself 2 or 3 times in the first few weeks.

waitingpatientlyforspring · 29/07/2021 17:44

Gall stones, worse than child birth easily. Next worse was a really bad IBS attack I had the other week. I thought at one point I might be in labour and had one of those hidden pregnancies 😬

CharlotteRose90 · 29/07/2021 17:46

Gallstones, colitis flare up and adenomyosis pain. All together at one point. I wanted to shoot myself

keeptheaspidistra · 29/07/2021 17:46

Having my heart broken.

Bit dramatic i know Blush

LouH1981 · 29/07/2021 17:46

Miscarriage. Physically, emotionally the lot.
It was the closest to fainting I’ve ever been. The cruel irony was that I used what I’d learned in ante natal yoga to get through it until the morphine hit.

SunSeaSurfGin · 29/07/2021 17:48

Kidney stone, a lot more painful than the gall stone.
Inflamed wisdom teeth and subsequent removal is a close 2nd

baldafrique · 29/07/2021 17:48

@LouH1981
Absolutely. Its horrendous. I vomited continuously throughout mine and it was one horrific long contraction without any break.

Bangolads · 29/07/2021 17:48

Giving birth to bits of a child that wouldn’t live.

baldafrique · 29/07/2021 17:49

@Bangolads
SadSadSad
Heartbreaking. I'm so sorry.

Cocomac2 · 29/07/2021 17:49

1, tooth abcess,was blacking out with pain
2, Being stitched for an hour after a forceps delivery.
3, Total knee replacement .
4, Thigh cramp.
5 , Migraine

SunSeaSurfGin · 29/07/2021 17:50

Trapped nerve in my back was bloody painful too but that was more a constant nagging ache as opposed to a stabbing pain

ConstanceGracy · 29/07/2021 17:50

I remember my contractions with dd were so bad I considered lobbing myself out of the hospital window for a split second.
Felt like my pelvis was going to split in half, the nurses were awful and even though I begged for pain relief they kept making excuses and ended up with nothing!
Contractions with my ds (first born) were not as bad though which is strange

Granville1 · 29/07/2021 17:50

Oh, and number 4 - having your blasted eyebrows threaded!

ItsSnowJokes · 29/07/2021 17:52

@Granville1

Oh, and number 4 - having your blasted eyebrows threaded!
I find threading relaxing. I love having it done.
LovelyIssues · 29/07/2021 17:52

Post csection pain and appendicitis

Mummadeze · 29/07/2021 17:53

Also tooth abscess although my stupid foot injury that I have at the moment (and feels like I am being stabbed every time I walk) is a close second.

Lovemusic33 · 29/07/2021 17:53

Child birth
Appendicitis
Salmonella (which was actually the worst).

SunSeaSurfGin · 29/07/2021 17:54

Everyone saying gallstones I had 5 as a teenager subsequently had gallbladder removed. I remember my mum just saying it's your body getting ready for periods when I had a tummy ache which happened pretty often. She just packed me off with paracetamol, I'm not so sure now. 🤔🤔🤔🤔

PennyDreadful66 · 29/07/2021 17:54

@PegasusReturns

Gall stones.
Came here to say this, not surprised it was one of the first comments.
Tessabelle74 · 29/07/2021 17:57

Getting my nipple pierced, about fell off the stool and my vision went white! I've have 3 vaginal births and a c section too but that"s definitely the worst! Longest lasting though is definitely an ear abscess and I'd probably get both nipples pierced over that again!

Monday26July · 29/07/2021 17:57

Unmedicated contractions. Four days into an induction. It terrifies me still that that happened. For thirteen hours. No pain relief allowed because I wasn’t dilating therefore wasn’t technically in labour. I was in a busy ward trying not to scream, suffocating myself with a pillow to try stay quiet once I realised there was absolutely no help coming despite being surrounded by midwives. I have PTSD. Nothing ever since or before has come close, including a spinal tap.

Peggyrose3 · 29/07/2021 17:58

Thunderclap headache after a seizure

Ended up hospitalised for a week
